Anyway, I feel like shite. Woke up several times in the night - to Dotun Adebayo on 5Live - with t-shirt absolutely drenched.

Forced self to come into work. Mainly to demonstrate to everyone how ill I really am so it's easier to have tomorrow off instead. Before christmas when everyone was taking days off I made some crack about how I hadn't been actually ill since freshers flu (many years ago) and that my immune system is solid as a rock. This was stupid.

I attribute being sick to the fact that I used to cycle everwhere, hence steering clear of infected feckas, and now i spend 2.5 hours on public transport each day. Sux

Leaving 5Live on all night would give me night sweats, too.

granted 5live is obscenely terrible in the day but at night it can be uhmazin - albeit quite trippy on occasion. and Dotun is quite dudish.

Seriously, this is EXACTLY like every single day was when I was pregs with Beepers but I dont think this is the case this time.

Jaq might be right. Im feeling pretty suspicious about the chimchangas I ate Wednesday night. Does food poisoning last this long with periods of okay though? (i should note the periods of ok come only after taking hydrocodone)

Does hydrocodone slow down your GI tract? Some kinds of food poisoning can take 2-3 days to really hit, others take just a few hours. Hope you feel better soon sunny, stay hydrated as much as you can.

Food poisoning and stomach flu (?) are very hard to distinguish apparently. Pregnancy is however much easier to establish: your belly tends to swell over time. Anyway good luck! Hope you recover soon. Being sick SUXORS. I was having a gigantic headache again today. Maybe also due to sugar withdrawel. Harumph.

Shivering can be due to stress/anxiety too, rabies, you said you're worked up, perhaps stress is getting to you? It can do darned bad things to one's health. My grey hair attests to this.

I've just had my first cold of Autumn and for some reason it really takes it out of you. Maybe because people's immune systems have been on holiday all summer.

I knew I was going to be sick on Friday and stocked up on all remedies and began to take them but, even after a weekend of drugs + healthy food + rest, I still didnt have the worst of it until yesterday. I still feel like a zombie today.

Y'know, feeling this way - nausea, headache, sinus acting up - is not a fun way to close the year. I have had trouble with my sinus since July. The last couple of days were so dreadful I started crying. This morning was slightly better, but now, after some woman was screaming in the shop, I have a fullblast headache again. this cold I've had since Friday *before* Thanksgiving refuses to go away.

I missed Thanksgiving due to illness. It's the second time in the space of a month that I've been sick. It's because of the immunosuppressant I take for rheumatoid arthritis, and I'm at the point where I'm not sure if the arthritis symptoms would be worse than fighting off near constant colds. It's depressing.

Oh, that sucks, Nicole. A friend of mine was in a similar boat due to some steroids she was on for an autoimmune thing. :/

Aw hey guys thanks. It's nothing super serious. I have IBS and so far of all the things I've tired nothing has helped. I often feel silly and as though my feeling so bad about it is not justified but it's impacting my life on a daily basis and hindering my activities and making me really upset. I am nauseous after 75% of my meals. I threw up my dinner 2x last week, and by about 2:00 pm on most days my stomach gets so swollen that I legitimately look about 6 months pregnant. It's horribly uncomfortable and nothing has given me relief. Last week I was in bed by 9 four nights because I felt so awful lying down and sleeping was the only way I could get comfortable. I'm exhausted all the time and clothes that I put on in the morning are too tight to the point of being uncomfortable by the time I go home. That's not exactly helping my pre-exisiting body image issues which in turns makes me anxious which in turn triggers the IBS. I'm seeing a therapist, a nutritionist and a GI doc. The later now has me on hardcore probiotics, metamucil and a laxative. We'll see if this helps. Sorry to go on. I'm just so fucking tired of feeling sick.

Yeah. I'm basically trying everything I can and hopefully one day something will work but right now I'm just so frustrated. I think I'm going to try acupuncture and maybe a super strict elimination diet next. I'll figure it out. Thanks for letting me vent.

ooooff. Anticipating feeling terrible after eating food has to be the worst. And feeling horrible at work is really, really demoralizing. Good luck with the meds combo. Is your therapist also offering any thoughts on meditation type things? Having had to deal with anxiety, maybe you explored that in the past already.

this may be tmi to ask but is stool transplant a possibility? Not sure if that is done for IBS but some GI docs I worked with at the hospital love it for ulcerative colitis and crohn's.

(not at all my intention to be all "oooooh you should try THIS it helped my best friend's cousin's daughter." That is soooo annoying to do to people who are ill! I guess I'm just into stool transplants? IDK I just hope you get some relief soon)

Yeah I'm trying that more too and if that doesn't work then when I go back to the GI doc in six weeks we're going to try a recently approved drug for my type of IBS. I almost feel silly because it doesn't seem like a big deal but i feel sick pretty much every day and it just sucks and, yeah IO, it's really depressing. Oh, you're all so nice.

x-post - isn't that so interesting? That they can even do that. I don't think I'm quite at that level or if they'd even do it for what I have since it's mostly stress related. I'm sure that eventually i'll figure out something that works but for now it kinda sucks. I even skipped an outdoor britpop dance night on Saturday because I felt too bad! O_O ;)

It is a huge deal! I'm trying to think of a deal that be huger than feeling awful all of the time? I dunno I think it part of how women are socialized, just trying to minimize our discomfort and downplaying how important it is.

Yeah from two minutes of education about stool transplants, my take-home message was that it is basically probiotic therapy administered from the other end! Which makes perfect sense, actually!

I've had a lot of respiratory issues in the last couple years: some kind of infection that developed into pneumonia last July, then a month-long bout of strep-ish in November, and now another five-week on/off throat infection. I've had some blood work and throat swabs done, and AFAIK no smoking gun. I guess I should go to an ENT now?

So this is a little bit better but my stupid weird occular immune thing is flaring up and I can't really see out of my left eye and it hurts and I am feeling very sick of feeling sick and also sorry for myself. Bah.

I have an appt with my eye doc tomorrow, a full physical on Monday, an appointment with the ocular immunologist on 8/13 and one with the gastro doc that same week. I'm going to get to the bottom of this if it fucking kills me.

Occular immune thing? That sounds like it sucks.

x-post - It does. I was diagnosed with it in around 2008-ish. It's recurrent and but I haven't had a flare up in a while and this one is particularly stubborn. My eye is really sore and photosensitive and I can't see right out of it.

Much luck. Presumably you're already on prednisone and Remicade/Humira. Some friends on other forums with autoimmune disorders swear by the anti-TNF-α biologics. Some of the usual dietary means of suppressing inflammatory response seem to have benefits in model organisms: supplemental fish oil/EPA (and presumably reducing the opposing, proinflammatory arachidonic acid), dark greens/lutein, purple cabbage/berries/anthocyanins, and resveratrol.

eye maladies are particularly upsetting :(

x-post - I am on prednisone drops but nothing oral. I went to my reg eye doc yesterday and they ran so many tests. Right now only my right eye is flaring but the decreased vision is concerning so they're trying to get me in to see the specialist I was supposed to see next month asap. I suspect he'll put me on some type of oral meds.
