So.
my company has decided at the last minute that I need to spend the end of this week and the beginning of next at our office in Cambridge. This means there will be opportunities for transatlantic drinking in Cambridge during the work week and London over the weekend. I have heard rumors about a so-called indie disco party on Saturday; these rumors intrigue me. Tell me more.
― HI DERE, Monday, 20 August 2007 12:38 (eighteen years ago)
FOOD SCIENCE DAY
― mark s, Monday, 20 August 2007 12:39 (eighteen years ago)
OMG omg omg omg.
Yes! Indie disco is at the Harrison {http://www.harrisonbar.co.uk/) on Saturday night from 7ish I think (I am playing records! GIVE ME REQUESTS NOM NOM)! And Mark has something to say about Sunday I believe :)
― Sarah, Monday, 20 August 2007 12:42 (eighteen years ago)
Now I am even sadder that my original plan to be in London for indie drinking fun has been ruined by ill health and house moving :-(
― ailsa, Monday, 20 August 2007 12:44 (eighteen years ago)
dang email me -- as it's my HOUSE i shall not give the address out here /cliquey trigger i kno but the floor will not stand ALL ILX IN ONE GO
― mark s, Monday, 20 August 2007 12:47 (eighteen years ago)
Hooray! Despite being an avowed B&S hata I will definitely be attending the Sinister indie disco now.
― Matt DC, Monday, 20 August 2007 12:49 (eighteen years ago)
Open to any Friday plans as well.
― Matt DC, Monday, 20 August 2007 12:50 (eighteen years ago)
Sorry, I'm stalking dirty dronerock boys going to the Dream Machine Festival in Essex this weekend!
Repeat after me, I will *NOT* make a fool over myself over teh Early Yares. I will NOT.
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 20 August 2007 12:52 (eighteen years ago)
Dagnambit, I am in chicago this weekend.
― Ed, Monday, 20 August 2007 12:54 (eighteen years ago)
(Also, why are your company sending you to the UK over a BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND?!?!? Do they not know that no work will take place at all?)
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 20 August 2007 12:55 (eighteen years ago)
they're not just sending you to Cambridge, Mass. are they?
DAN, i look forward to finally meeting you, i think that will just about complete my set of "everyone i've ever wanted to meet off of the internet" :)
― CarsmileSteve, Monday, 20 August 2007 12:59 (eighteen years ago)
*gale deslongschamps weeps*
― mark s, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:00 (eighteen years ago)
Damn, Dan, why couldn't they have given you a bit more notice?
― Pashmina, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:03 (eighteen years ago)
Damn, this reminds me of a couple of years ago - around six years - when you and I were in England and we missed eachother. BUGGAH!
― nathalie, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:05 (eighteen years ago)
corr! and that.
― Alan, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:15 (eighteen years ago)
is there a thread where you announce that you will be in the uk but don't particularly want to meet anyone? :-)
― darraghmac, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:23 (eighteen years ago)
the harrison is open on a saturday?
the harrison is a suitable venue for an indie-disco?
― Filey Camp, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:25 (eighteen years ago)
Depends if you want to be hunted down or not, we're very persistent.
― Ed, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:26 (eighteen years ago)
beartraps
― Ed, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:27 (eighteen years ago)
The harrison is open every day I think.
― Ed, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:28 (eighteen years ago)
baerfaps
― mark s, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:29 (eighteen years ago)
Actually, I spoke too soon I think. I remember it not being open on saturdays.
― Ed, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:29 (eighteen years ago)
It is open, and it will be GRATE for indie discos, shurrup about your BEAR TRAPS or whatever you're on about :)
― Sarah, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:31 (eighteen years ago)
that is good, it didn't used to be. They had to open it specially so I could fall asleep in it on the saturday of tracer hand wedding carnage day 4. The times they are a changing.
― Ed, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:32 (eighteen years ago)
It has been rented specifically for indie-disco shenanigans, no?
― ailsa, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:33 (eighteen years ago)
exactly. it's only open on a saturday if you book it.
it's officially a private party, but y'know, it's my deposit cheque behind the bar so i can invite whoever i want innit ;)
― CarsmileSteve, Monday, 20 August 2007 13:38 (eighteen years ago)
Also Dan, Green Velvet is playing in London on Sunday night. Admittedly this is as part of a rather large and utterly ruinous dance festival that isn't really suitable for casually dropping in on.
― Matt DC, Monday, 20 August 2007 14:14 (eighteen years ago)
omg nice
All of this awesomeness is completely distracting me from the utter hell that is attempting to emergency renew my passport because my company can't give anyone lead time on international business travel.
― HI DERE, Monday, 20 August 2007 14:18 (eighteen years ago)
you must take revenge on them by expensing a $1000 bar tab. (two lager shandies at current prices)
― Ed, Monday, 20 August 2007 14:19 (eighteen years ago)
What's all this? Drinking? In Cambridge?
― tissp, Monday, 20 August 2007 14:52 (eighteen years ago)
IN CAMBRIDGE!
Also who has a floor/couch I can sleep on over the weekend?
― HI DERE, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 00:48 (eighteen years ago)
Lou1s J@gger.
― John Justen, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 00:51 (eighteen years ago)
IN LONDON I MEAN
― HI DERE, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 00:52 (eighteen years ago)
Also, free roofies.
xpost
― John Justen, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 00:52 (eighteen years ago)
in edinburgh til tuesday :/
― Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 00:58 (eighteen years ago)
OKAY I WILL COME TO MN IF IT MEANS YOU WILL STOP TELLING LOUIS TO RAPE ME
― HI DERE, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 01:06 (eighteen years ago)
ITS A DEAL!
― John Justen, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 01:07 (eighteen years ago)
I too, think that Louis should not rape Dan.
― Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 01:13 (eighteen years ago)
I admire John's way of getting things accomplished, however.
― Sara R-C, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 01:15 (eighteen years ago)
dan if you are ever tempted to seek out byron's pond, near cambridge, my advice is not to do that

― John Justen, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 01:19 (eighteen years ago)
Threats, efficiency... and even PIE! Impressive, young man, very impresive.
― Sara R-C, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 01:29 (eighteen years ago)
Dan, if I were here you would be welcome to my infamous sofa and less celebrated futon.
― Ed, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 06:11 (eighteen years ago)
I would wager that more ilxors have slept on my sofa than on any other such piece if furniture. I should get a blue plaque.
― Ed, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 06:13 (eighteen years ago)
But what is more infamous: your sofa, or Gears!? :D
― Trayce, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 06:43 (eighteen years ago)
I had completely forgotten about that, I withdraw my claim.
― Ed, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 06:51 (eighteen years ago)
We demand a full photo record be made of the event, and presented properly to the usual ILX Assemblage
― kingfish, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 07:07 (eighteen years ago)
I should have sofa space if required.
― Pete, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 07:34 (eighteen years ago)
I'm gonna be in London the whole time, except Sunday, which I may well spend in Cambridge. If our paths converge at any point within the next few days, I would be most delighted to make Mr. Perry's acquaintance. Furthermore, I promise to keep my rougher passions in check, so fret not, good sirs!
― Just got offed, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 09:07 (eighteen years ago)
Wow, DP and LJ together, I may have to go and lie down for a while
― Tom D., Tuesday, 21 August 2007 09:11 (eighteen years ago)
Yayyyyyyyy! This makes missing MN trip that bit more bearable.
― suzy, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 09:27 (eighteen years ago)
hey wait, Hi Dere is Dan? Slow on the fuckin' uptake, me.
― CharlieNo4, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 10:27 (eighteen years ago)
What's this thing on Saturday?
― Anna, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 12:18 (eighteen years ago)
Sinister 10th anniversary celebrations. Obviously they are having a picnic on a hill somewhere during the day but the evening part of it appears to have been opened up to friends of Sinister/friends of Carsmile as well. It's at the Harrison anyway.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 12:23 (eighteen years ago)
hey wait, Hi Dere is Dan?
^_^
I know it was probably dickish of me to not participate in the "THIS IS MY NEW PERMANENT SCREEN NAME OOPS" threads but I'd be lying if I said I didn't still treasure these responses. (I was only planning on being HI DERE for about 5 minutes!)
― HI DERE, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 13:44 (eighteen years ago)
5 mins is how long it took me to discover your true identity but don't worry it will remain safe with me.
― blueski, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 13:46 (eighteen years ago)
Hahaha!
PS: When is this so-called "bank holiday"? I knew nothing about this when I was booking the trip!
― HI DERE, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 13:48 (eighteen years ago)
Took me a while to work out who HI DERE was
― Tom D., Tuesday, 21 August 2007 13:49 (eighteen years ago)
Monday Dan, we're all off work - not the best time for a business trip.
― Anna, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 14:00 (eighteen years ago)
or a great time for a business trip, if you're a lazy sod like me who hates working.
― ken c, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 14:03 (eighteen years ago)
lol @ British people not telling their American counterparts when they are on vacation; THIS IS NO SKIN OFF OF MY NOSE, FOLKS
― HI DERE, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 14:18 (eighteen years ago)
Dan, we should get drinks during the week at some point! Do you know where you'll be staying yet?
― tissp, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 14:34 (eighteen years ago)
I am staying at a best western on church road.
Ps: wtf circle line, why you no show for 30 min?
― HI DERE, Thursday, 23 August 2007 08:56 (eighteen years ago)
because it is shit. (top tip: at Paddington always go for the Hammersmith and City line; top tip 2: the Piccadilly line is almost as quick to kings cross as the heathrow express/tube combo and often more reliable)
― Ed, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:02 (eighteen years ago)
Does your bed look like this
http://www.bestwestern.co.uk/hotelpics2/83/83673/BW083673_B02_LR.jpg
― Ed, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:03 (eighteen years ago)
Circle/Met/H&C lines are fvcked up at the moment - welcome to the crapital!
― robster, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:07 (eighteen years ago)
dan i emailed you! sorry for delay, the email to been filtered as JUNK
― mark s, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:19 (eighteen years ago)
Incidentally they do not tell you this anywhere on your route from arrivals to the HEx, I wonder why?
― Ed, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:21 (eighteen years ago)
Ed, I can see the point you're making, re: the unreliability of circle/district/h&c from paddington to kingsX, but come on, we're talking: 15 minutes to Pad on the HEx+tube to King's X vs 1h to King's X on the tube, if all goes perfect
― G00blar, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:27 (eighteen years ago)
Isn't Dan worried he might get shot when he's in the UK?
― Tom D., Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:29 (eighteen years ago)
15 minutes on paddington plus 15 minutes on the bus to kings cross is still way quicker than piccadilly line.
― ken c, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:43 (eighteen years ago)
plus the wait for the HEx and the wait for the C/H&C. The wait for the P is shorter. HEx is faster, but not three times faster.
― Ed, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:46 (eighteen years ago)
Also it depends on terminal, various factors at 1 and 4 make getting to the P quicker than the HEx and in the other direction the P stops at 4 first.
― Ed, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:47 (eighteen years ago)
TFL journey planner says 41 minutes using H&C and HEx, 51 on P
― Ed, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:54 (eighteen years ago)
HI DAN, welcome to the transport geek CAPITAL OF THE WORLD :)
― CarsmileSteve, Thursday, 23 August 2007 14:14 (eighteen years ago)
Very true, that.
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 23 August 2007 14:16 (eighteen years ago)
the HEx only runs twice an hour! it can be very easy to wait for 25 minutes or so before you even get on the thing. and then once you arrive you are in f*cking PADDINGTON etc etc
― Tracer Hand, Thursday, 23 August 2007 17:24 (eighteen years ago)
Someone please take a pic of Dan with one of these on his noggin:

― Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Friday, 24 August 2007 03:43 (eighteen years ago)
Hahaha
Where in King's Cross is this place, BTW?
― HI DERE, Friday, 24 August 2007 08:17 (eighteen years ago)
Harrison Street, just off Gray's Inn Road.
That picture on the Harrison website is one of the most dishonest brochure photos I have ever seen. It is a tarted up rough pub next to a King's Cross council estate, not a country hotel in Scotland.
― Matt DC, Friday, 24 August 2007 08:50 (eighteen years ago)
Cockfarmage. This is the pub.

― Matt DC, Friday, 24 August 2007 08:51 (eighteen years ago)
The surrounding estate is full of old punks and buddhists who do the whole Oirishy music thing now. Food can come from the wonderful Norfolk Arms.
― suzy, Friday, 24 August 2007 09:39 (eighteen years ago)
surrounding estate also full of scary hooded teens, but i'm sure they too can be won over by Saturday's playlist.
― blueski, Friday, 24 August 2007 09:59 (eighteen years ago)
ive never seen anyone scary round there. unless you mean those 3 kids that hang around outside the off licence on grays inn road
― Filey Camp, Friday, 24 August 2007 10:20 (eighteen years ago)
Ah. There are about 10 of them and they're all more scared of their mums than the Special Needs officer who patrols that corner.
― suzy, Friday, 24 August 2007 10:24 (eighteen years ago)
That estate is not very scary at all wtf?
― Matt DC, Friday, 24 August 2007 10:25 (eighteen years ago)
the one time i went to The Harrison there was a group of about 15 lads by the basketball court bit. and i always see more like 5-10 by that off licence.
now don't give me any more grief about this or i'll set Jeremy Vine on you capiche?
― blueski, Friday, 24 August 2007 10:46 (eighteen years ago)
I've lived thereabouts for years and the number of hoodies has remained pretty constant.
Although was sitting on friend's balcony on Regent Square the other night, watching some pretty 'impressive' TWOCing of shite cars and mopeds with special appearance by van full of BACON.
― suzy, Friday, 24 August 2007 10:51 (eighteen years ago)
one of the 3 kids outside that offlicence smoked a cigarette once and got grounded by his mum
― Filey Camp, Friday, 24 August 2007 11:12 (eighteen years ago)
unless it's changed since i was last on it - heathrow express runs 4 times an hour.
heathrow express is nice because you get a seat there, and watch silly programs on the little TV and it may even be air conditioned.
― ken c, Friday, 24 August 2007 11:16 (eighteen years ago)
Dealing with airport hassle is HORRIFIC so it has to be Heathrow Express for me. Paddington also much improved.
― suzy, Friday, 24 August 2007 11:42 (eighteen years ago)
i've never been on the HEx. last time we had to go to Heathrow we went from Waterloo to Feltham and then bus - not as convoluted as it may sound.
― blueski, Friday, 24 August 2007 12:45 (eighteen years ago)
darn ken and his facts
― Tracer Hand, Friday, 24 August 2007 12:46 (eighteen years ago)
p.s. grey's inn road is about as rough as WWE Heat
― ken c, Friday, 24 August 2007 13:22 (eighteen years ago)
yes, hurrah for The Harrison aka Gumdrop House on Lollipop Lane.
― blueski, Friday, 24 August 2007 13:29 (eighteen years ago)
the harrison has three small bedrooms upstairs that are let on a nightly basis, usually to bankers. i have often fantasized about a "weekend away", at the harrison.
― Tracer Hand, Friday, 24 August 2007 13:57 (eighteen years ago)
little-known fact: burgers at the harrison not so good
There goes trained journalist Tracer Hand again, with *his* "facts".
I bet he works for a highly-trusted organisation.
― Tim, Friday, 24 August 2007 14:22 (eighteen years ago)
NB: NO FOOD at the harrison tomorrow, as it's a "private" do, so have yr tea before you come ;)
― CarsmileSteve, Friday, 24 August 2007 16:14 (eighteen years ago)
I hope I can make it tomorrow night!
― Tom D., Friday, 24 August 2007 16:15 (eighteen years ago)
Norfolk Arms anyone? Dan, I will message you with digits etc.
― suzy, Friday, 24 August 2007 16:16 (eighteen years ago)
Fly home via Dublin. I would like to meet the inventor of Bootyflakes but not stand to close to him just in case he has samples...
― kv_nol, Friday, 24 August 2007 16:18 (eighteen years ago)
Lots of mild bickering about subjects peripheral to the FAP, *this* is a proper FAP thread.
I will be in the Harrison this evening as well. Maybe I should get myself one of those rooms.
― Matt DC, Friday, 24 August 2007 16:31 (eighteen years ago)
So FOOD DINNER DINNER from 6ish?
― suzy, Friday, 24 August 2007 16:33 (eighteen years ago)
Sorry to miss all the fun, someone kidnap dan perry and bring him to the slaughtered lamb on thursday kthxbye
― Ed, Friday, 24 August 2007 16:35 (eighteen years ago)
I'm sure you're having plenty of fun where you are.
― suzy, Friday, 24 August 2007 16:46 (eighteen years ago)
I'm broke but I might pop along to this for a bit! I believe this is a twee indie disco party so if requests are still being taken I would like Nothing To Be Done by the Pastels plz ta.
― Colonel Poo, Friday, 24 August 2007 21:51 (eighteen years ago)
I can now confirm that Faker Hand is talking nonsense about the Harrison burgers, they are fine.
― Matt DC, Friday, 24 August 2007 23:55 (eighteen years ago)
i rest my case
― Tracer Hand, Saturday, 25 August 2007 02:39 (eighteen years ago)
Lolz
Suzy I sent you my digits in return; I hope I can find this place as my phone is complete bullshit as far as displaying useful maps is concerned!
― HI DERE, Saturday, 25 August 2007 12:08 (eighteen years ago)
Colonel, you might be able to solve your "emergency" in this 'hood, just sayin'.
People who want to eat LOVELY food please come to Norfolk Arms, Leigh Street WC1 from 6 pm.
― suzy, Saturday, 25 August 2007 13:19 (eighteen years ago)
I don't think I'm gonna be able to make this tonight :(
phd work to do + packing + no money = ;_;
― G00blar, Saturday, 25 August 2007 15:07 (eighteen years ago)
haha the lure of the FAP had the final say, though!
― Just got offed, Sunday, 26 August 2007 01:29 (eighteen years ago)
make with the information, people
― Tracer Hand, Sunday, 26 August 2007 02:23 (eighteen years ago)
The information is that me, Rob and HI DERE rocked the music V channels in a sober pro Aguileira way and therefore win in so many ways.
The bottles of Rhum and Jimmy Be-AM heleped.
― Pete, Sunday, 26 August 2007 03:56 (eighteen years ago)
btw there was no number 17 bus, i had to get my dad to drive up from lewisham to new cross at 1 in the morning :(
― Just got offed, Sunday, 26 August 2007 10:24 (eighteen years ago)
Sorry, I was sure it was all night. We had to get a cab too, transport seemed a bit fucked last night.
― Pete, Sunday, 26 August 2007 10:52 (eighteen years ago)
can't believe we went to O Neills - and it closed at 12
― blueski, Sunday, 26 August 2007 11:03 (eighteen years ago)
Should have been old-skool and gone to the proper Irish bar, I told you. I had much fun.
― Matt DC, Sunday, 26 August 2007 11:31 (eighteen years ago)
we had a look at the Irish pub but it looked too packed.
― blueski, Sunday, 26 August 2007 11:46 (eighteen years ago)
Pakenham was nice and quiet, table and the end of Match Of The Day. Stick with what you know.
― Pete, Sunday, 26 August 2007 12:25 (eighteen years ago)
Hahahaha.
Dan's awesome. of course, but you probably already figured that one out. THUNDERCATS ARE GO.
― suzy, Sunday, 26 August 2007 13:22 (eighteen years ago)
ya, everyone b mega awesome, and even the belle & sebastian fans weren't the nuisance i'd expected ;-)
― Just got offed, Sunday, 26 August 2007 13:29 (eighteen years ago)
on the other hand the belle and sebastian fans thought you were lame :( sorry *hugs*
― ken c, Sunday, 26 August 2007 13:41 (eighteen years ago)
Lol lol lol wow.
I had an excellent weekend! Thanks everyone, especially Pete, Suzy and Mark! You are all awesome and wonderful.
PS for those curious I missed the King's Cross train but found one leaving from Liverpool Street. There's a guy in the car behind me who lost his eye today! WAU
― HI DERE, Sunday, 26 August 2007 21:08 (eighteen years ago)
Also I just ate a real Mars bar and it was very much like the reconstituted one Tim made.
So, since I'm up in Cambridge all of this upcoming week, who wants to go out drinking?
― HI DERE, Sunday, 26 August 2007 21:13 (eighteen years ago)
Why then you're near Stansted with it's hourly Ryanair flights to Dublin...
― kv_nol, Sunday, 26 August 2007 21:42 (eighteen years ago)
Follow kv_nol's advice.
― Ned Raggett, Sunday, 26 August 2007 21:48 (eighteen years ago)
I don't think I can expense a flight to Dublin...
― HI DERE, Sunday, 26 August 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)
you won't need to, it costs like 99p
― Tracer Hand, Monday, 27 August 2007 00:10 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, trust me. It's a treat.
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 27 August 2007 00:11 (eighteen years ago)
Go on...
― kv_nol, Monday, 27 August 2007 08:30 (eighteen years ago)
There's a guy in the car behind me who lost his eye today! WAU
wait - waht?
― StanM, Monday, 27 August 2007 08:36 (eighteen years ago)
There was a guy on the train car behind me who had gauze wrapped all around his head and BLOOD RUNNING DOWN HIS RIGHT CHEEK FROM HIS EYE.
He didn't seem very happy abut it.
― HI DERE, Monday, 27 August 2007 15:51 (eighteen years ago)
Brits are such whingers, tis true...
― kv_nol, Monday, 27 August 2007 15:58 (eighteen years ago)
perhaps he just hadn't seen the funny side of it yet
― ken c, Monday, 27 August 2007 20:11 (eighteen years ago)
Dan! Do you want to go drinking tonight?
― tissp, Thursday, 30 August 2007 13:10 (eighteen years ago)
Bumping in case he doesn't see this by tonight. I sent him a mail too but i don't know if he's checking his mail...
― tissp, Thursday, 30 August 2007 16:29 (eighteen years ago)
PICKTCHURES PLEEZ
― nabisco, Thursday, 30 August 2007 16:34 (eighteen years ago)
I have a few at home but have yet to actually look at them. Will check and upload.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 30 August 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)
Yes, I was just about to post this rather silly plea: POST PIX NOW. :-)
― stevienixed, Thursday, 30 August 2007 18:04 (eighteen years ago)
Basically any time anyone meets anywhere in the world, I would like to look at pictures, and have conversations with the people around me about the clothes.
― nabisco, Thursday, 30 August 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)
Dude I was totally intending on going out but the past... eight? days of going out are taking their toll on me. HOWEVER, I might be back next week!
― HI DERE, Thursday, 30 August 2007 21:07 (eighteen years ago)
You'll be naturalised at this rate!
― Just got offed, Thursday, 30 August 2007 21:10 (eighteen years ago)
I'm trying to imagine Dan as a cockney now, and it's not really working.

― Just got offed, Thursday, 30 August 2007 21:17 (eighteen years ago)
I've just taken a look and all I have is a picture of Ken C sticking his head in a bag, presumably taken so I could photoshop a pair of eyes, a mouth and the words OM NOM NOM NOM NOM over the top.
I must have been too busy drinking to take anything else. Sorry.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 30 August 2007 22:13 (eighteen years ago)
Dan, it sounds like you're going out a lot, and I'm here to encourage you to go out more. You can sleep on the plane home. If and when they let you return.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 30 August 2007 22:17 (eighteen years ago)
wasn't it mark h, not ken c?
― blueski, Thursday, 30 August 2007 22:49 (eighteen years ago)
Don't ask me, their head's in a bag.
― Matt DC, Friday, 31 August 2007 08:19 (eighteen years ago)
I missed that.
Every picture I tried to take with my camera phone could be titled "Blurry Person Sinking Into The Nameless Void" so I deleted all of them. I think the Food Science videos the next day came out much better.
― HI DERE, Friday, 31 August 2007 08:59 (eighteen years ago)
Hai where are pix of shenanihgans pls thx.
― Trayce, Friday, 31 August 2007 09:06 (eighteen years ago)
step 1: put your head in a bag
― Tracer Hand, Friday, 31 August 2007 09:35 (eighteen years ago)
was mark H with head in bag. bag looked very OM NOM NOM NOM NOM to start with, hence head insertion.
― koogs, Friday, 31 August 2007 10:09 (eighteen years ago)
Step 2: Take a picture of that bag
― HI DERE, Friday, 31 August 2007 10:11 (eighteen years ago)
No autoerotic asphyxiation going on, one hopes... I mean each to his own and all that but...

Roffle. What phone do you have again? IPHONE? I refuse your excuse, so PIX NOW. :-)
― stevienixed, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:40 (eighteen years ago)
I can confirm that it was my head in the bag.
― Grandpont Genie, Monday, 3 September 2007 08:50 (eighteen years ago)
HI DERE!
where are pics and vids (ketchup race in partic) pls?
― CarsmileSteve, Monday, 10 September 2007 16:16 (eighteen years ago)
SORRY
I am really, really, really bad about sharing pics/videos, largely because I don't have dedicated hosting space. I will try to rectify that this week.
― HI DERE, Monday, 10 September 2007 16:17 (eighteen years ago)
Get one Flickr.

― Ed, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 16:21 (seventeen years ago)
ask upt0eleven, he had an idea for a place near my hotel (Shoreditch High St) that he hasn't yet told me about
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 17:54 (seventeen years ago)
ahahah...let battle commence
― blueski, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 17:59 (seventeen years ago)
The Water Poet on Folgate Street was where I was thinking (at least as a rendezvous) since Dan's staying in a hotel on Shoreditch High Street. I'm sure others know the area better than I though, so if yez have any alternate preferences do pipe 'em up.
― Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 18:10 (seventeen years ago)
You should go to the Old Blue Last.
― Raw Patrick, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 18:20 (seventeen years ago)
I walked past a place called the Owl and Pussycat that looked cool. Suzy also mentioned it to me; anyone else know it? It's on Old Nichol Street.
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 20:29 (seventeen years ago)
I've never been to the Water Poet and by the looks of Fancyapint it looks great. Actually I haven't been to the Owl and Pussycat either.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 20:36 (seventeen years ago)
Promise, no lame ILX acronyms this time if I turn up!
― Just got offed, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 20:40 (seventeen years ago)

― Tom D., Thursday, 31 July 2008 12:26 (seventeen years ago)
If no one makes a decision out of these two pubs this afternoon, I'm going to flip a coin.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 31 July 2008 13:03 (seventeen years ago)
I would say Owl and Pussycat by a nose (they are both nice pubs and both have gardens).

Which one is less likely to be full of cunts?
― Matt DC, Thursday, 31 July 2008 13:22 (seventeen years ago)
This is shoreditch on a friday night you are talking about.
― Ed, Thursday, 31 July 2008 13:23 (seventeen years ago)
which one has a pool table, is what should be asked tbh
― ken c, Thursday, 31 July 2008 13:29 (seventeen years ago)
O&P has bar billiards IIRC.
― Ed, Thursday, 31 July 2008 13:30 (seventeen years ago)
KEN CHU, IT'S ON
― Just got offed, Thursday, 31 July 2008 13:31 (seventeen years ago)
Right, Owl & Pussycat IT IS.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 31 July 2008 13:37 (seventeen years ago)
Oh Christ it's next to the T-Bar. Ruin awaits.

― and what, Thursday, 31 July 2008 13:54 (seventeen years ago)
Damn, I missed the last DanFAP and I'm gonna miss this one too by looks of things, I'm out in Soho tomorrow. Unless I can somehow convince people to relocate to Shoreditch but since one of my friends is going back to Southall afterwards it's unlikely.
― Colonel Poo, Thursday, 31 July 2008 15:13 (seventeen years ago)
woot
― HI DERE, Thursday, 31 July 2008 15:40 (seventeen years ago)
There's a joke to be made about Colonel Poo's last sentence, far be it for me to be the one who makes it.
― Just got offed, Thursday, 31 July 2008 15:42 (seventeen years ago)
Go on, the suspense is killing me.
― Colonel Poo, Thursday, 31 July 2008 15:54 (seventeen years ago)
Would have been about some Exeter Uni library kitten cult but the moment's kinda lost now.
― Just got offed, Thursday, 31 July 2008 15:55 (seventeen years ago)
Oh
― Colonel Poo, Thursday, 31 July 2008 15:56 (seventeen years ago)
*silence*
O&P has a marginally better rating on BeerInTheEvening (by point three) so I support the move. Louis, I promise I will pwn you at pool.
― Upt0eleven, Thursday, 31 July 2008 15:58 (seventeen years ago)
I'm here all week!
― Just got offed, Thursday, 31 July 2008 16:00 (seventeen years ago)
And like buggery you will.
There's a joke to be made about that last sentence surely?
― Tom D., Thursday, 31 July 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)
Especially as they only have bar billiards.
― Ed, Thursday, 31 July 2008 16:02 (seventeen years ago)
I think public school boys play rather different rules.
― Upt0eleven, Thursday, 31 July 2008 16:03 (seventeen years ago)
OMG no pool table? They have TWO in The Water Poet, both with good nap. And I am undefeated on 'em.
― Upt0eleven, Thursday, 31 July 2008 16:06 (seventeen years ago)
like i say there is no need to limit ourselves to one pub
― Just got offed, Thursday, 31 July 2008 16:07 (seventeen years ago)
i'm out in soho too. and then supposedly going to bowling. but if i'm late for bowling i'll come to pub instead.
― ken c, Thursday, 31 July 2008 16:13 (seventeen years ago)
The Owl and the Pussycat is a great pub - used to be my work local when I worked round there (which is why in my head it will always be The Owl and The Pussyflaps - not my juvenille humour, but it does stick.) It's a bit scutty, but is basically a decent old man boozer - except they do decent wine. (Did interview Ladytron in the garden once, but don't hold that against it.)
― Anna, Thursday, 31 July 2008 16:54 (seventeen years ago)
I am no longer going out in Soho, might make this after all.
― Colonel Poo, Friday, 1 August 2008 08:43 (seventeen years ago)
Right then, I have to go home quickly after work but will probably be in the Owl & Pussycat around 8ish. I'm sure Dan will appreciate that we've picked a pub with a euphemism for 'vagina' in the name.
― Matt DC, Friday, 1 August 2008 08:55 (seventeen years ago)
Any sense of whether anyone will be there earlier than habitual lateboy MDC? I have the chance of getting there earlyish doors for a swifty before I fly South for the winter, or at tleast the weekend. South to Peckham, that is.
― Tim, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:10 (seventeen years ago)
I'll be there early as poss, but given I have to escape the black hole of mitcham this will probably be 7.
― Ed, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:13 (seventeen years ago)
riiiiiight i have nothing to do so i might head eastwards shortly. this will be might first fap-type event so pls be nice.

― Just got offed, Friday, 1 August 2008 16:56 (seventeen years ago)
i'll have a glastonbury band on my wrist and most likely bud-less AKG headphones round my neck. and stripy slip-on Vans adorning my plates.
― Upt0eleven, Friday, 1 August 2008 16:58 (seventeen years ago)
