Sinister 10th anniversary celebrations. Obviously they are having a picnic on a hill somewhere during the day but the evening part of it appears to have been opened up to friends of Sinister/friends of Carsmile as well. It's at the Harrison anyway.

because it is shit. (top tip: at Paddington always go for the Hammersmith and City line; top tip 2: the Piccadilly line is almost as quick to kings cross as the heathrow express/tube combo and often more reliable)

Ed, I can see the point you're making, re: the unreliability of circle/district/h&c from paddington to kingsX, but come on, we're talking:
15 minutes to Pad on the HEx+tube to King's X
vs
1h to King's X on the tube, if all goes perfect

15 minutes on paddington plus 15 minutes on the bus to kings cross is still way quicker than piccadilly line.

plus the wait for the HEx and the wait for the C/H&C. The wait for the P is shorter. HEx is faster, but not three times faster.

Also it depends on terminal, various factors at 1 and 4 make getting to the P quicker than the HEx and in the other direction the P stops at 4 first.

TFL journey planner says 41 minutes using H&C and HEx, 51 on P

the HEx only runs twice an hour! it can be very easy to wait for 25 minutes or so before you even get on the thing. and then once you arrive you are in f*cking PADDINGTON etc etc

That picture on the Harrison website is one of the most dishonest brochure photos I have ever seen. It is a tarted up rough pub next to a King's Cross council estate, not a country hotel in Scotland.

the one time i went to The Harrison there was a group of about 15 lads by the basketball court bit. and i always see more like 5-10 by that off licence.

unless it's changed since i was last on it - heathrow express runs 4 times an hour.

heathrow express is nice because you get a seat there, and watch silly programs on the little TV and it may even be air conditioned.

Dealing with airport hassle is HORRIFIC so it has to be Heathrow Express for me. Paddington also much improved.

i've never been on the HEx. last time we had to go to Heathrow we went from Waterloo to Feltham and then bus - not as convoluted as it may sound.

i'm out in soho too. and then supposedly going to bowling. but if i'm late for bowling i'll come to pub instead.

The Owl and the Pussycat is a great pub - used to be my work local when I worked round there (which is why in my head it will always be The Owl and The Pussyflaps - not my juvenille humour, but it does stick.) It's a bit scutty, but is basically a decent old man boozer - except they do decent wine. (Did interview Ladytron in the garden once, but don't hold that against it.)

I am no longer going out in Soho, might make this after all.

Right then, I have to go home quickly after work but will probably be in the Owl & Pussycat around 8ish. I'm sure Dan will appreciate that we've picked a pub with a euphemism for 'vagina' in the name.

Any sense of whether anyone will be there earlier than habitual lateboy MDC? I have the chance of getting there earlyish doors for a swifty before I fly South for the winter, or at tleast the weekend. South to Peckham, that is.
