yeah, afaic the best thing to do in NYC on NYE is stay home (as long as your neighbors aren't louder than you are) or go to a friend's place (as long as it isn't midtown). i suppose it helps that i can see fireworks from home and don't find doing nothing too depressing. i am going to be in California, anyway.

i was at a nye party in tribeca a few years ago and we were trying to get to one in the village but there were no cab so we started walking and deiced to go to every party we could see from the street and we end up going to like five lol hueg loft parties and it was sort of ridiculous and fun

My three best friends are in NYC. They are each from a different crowd, so this is a total coincidence. They're each the kind of person on whom the rest of us depend to organize something good in London or Bristol. This sucks for me, but they will have a magical time in NYC and so will you.

I used to hate new years because I never had anyone to kiss. Now I hate new years because I always get too drunk and usually vomit in someone's yard. No more new year's parties for me -- unless someone is around to make sure I stick to only one type of alcoholic beverage.

I hate New Year's because it is depressing and I end up around a bunch of people I don't care for, in the past.

I always spent my New Year's Eve at some house party with friends, that way I don't have to mingle with strangers or try to get into some overcrowded clubs. I've mostly had lots of fun on NYE, though last year was kinda bad, since I had a food poisoning, and this girl I'd just started to date a few weeks earlier had to take care of me, while I was trembling in her bed and running to her bathroom to throw up once an hour.

it's important to remember that if you do sleep through it, you won't be sad about it the next day. NYE is a very temporary high in my experience. then again i'm old and rarely drink any more let alone hang out with people who do.

Yet, sleep and I shall be woken by FIRECRACKERS, and thus feel even worse for attempting to cheat both time and convention.

Last year the magic kept on going and going for the half-hour duration of the London Eye pyrotechnics display, before promptly ending when I was forced to battle through body-jammed streets for nearly two hours in order to get to an operational underground stop.

How crazy is that? Naturally I shall keep all interested parties au fait with developments on this front.

Party sucked, terrible music, got stuck in freezing cold nowhere near trains and with no cabs stopping and bus not coming. Finally blew $25 on a car service to go, what, 2 miles?

Kept it local and old-skool this year, it was fun. A few drinks in the pub with friends, then made it to another old school friend's party just before midnight. We fucked up the countdown but apart from that it was a good one, even if I did drink too much of some ridiculous punch and pass out in a ball on the sofa at about 3am. My last memory is putting 'I Like To Move It Move It' on.

Left house for the first time after my surgery (yay); wife drove into a snowbank on the way out of the driveway and had to rely on massive pissed-off neighbor to extricate van (boo); went to party with lots of good food and a couple of good friends (yay); couldn't drink because of Vicodin intake (boo); Vicodin intake (yay); home and doing nothing all day (yay).

Went to friends' place out of town, had good time, left around 3.30am, found some more people who were still up and about, went to their house, stayed up another few hours, had good time, drank a pretty hueg amount and am now more or less incapable of doing anything save for posting to this thread

We kind of fucked up the countdown, but then later we counted down from 10 like 15 more times so that was fun. We found some tunnels in back of the warehouse and shouted down them and then followed them out into a biiiig yard where we looked at the stars for awhile. About 4 or 5 am or so we hung out and played some kind of ridiculous card game we made up as we played in the little carpeted area in the middle of tent village. It was weird to be hungover and breaking down camp indoors this morning. But fun!

i fell asleep watching me some planet earth. 'fresh water' indeed

patrons at the bar across the street kept waking up my daughter, most disgusting savages etc.
