Now all that chat and preamble is out of the way, let's look at some numbers!

Non-self-explanatory stats:
Enthusiasm: Average points per ballot, divided by the max it could have (50).
Popularity: The Spotify Popularity score for the track, if it's on Spotify.
Hotttnesss: This is an EchoNest thing. Not really sure what it means.

Aggregated Artist Results

Some basic stats combining all tracks by a single artist (not counting featured artists, sorry Young Thug). If a voter voted for more than one track by an artist, only the top track is counted (sorry taytayfan).

Genre Top 10s

For every genre in Glenn's big map of the universe that had at least 10 tracks with at least one vote, I compiled a top 10 list. Not all the genre assignments make sense, but hey.

Voter Statistics

All your old favourites, some new ones too:
Hivemind score: this is the average points total for the tracks on your ballot; how your ballot was ordered doesn't change the score.
Fuxxor Quotient: the proportion of tracks on your ballot that were in Pitchfork's top 100.
Antifuxxor Ratio: Hivemind divided by Fuxxor Quotient. A high ratio means your taste is much closer to that of ILM than to that of Pitchfork. A score of infinity means you're awesome.

for years, most people here have favored bolding things that didn't place in the poll, i.e. highlighting what was unique or unheralded from their list. doing it the other way around seems like a more recent development and frankly i don't even see the point in bothering in bolding the stuff that placed. and afaict there's no rule that it has to be done that way.

haw cool, this is one of my true true songs of the year but i swapped it out last minute because gr80 asked me to vote for stitches and i figured i'd be the only vote. maybe the album will place?

In the woods, there is a saying, "we have no neighbours", I never say it aloud because it disturbs the serenity of the valley, which even now is out of earshot of the autotuning that has devastated much of the landscape on the other side of the gorge.

Doesn't your Acid Techno disturb the serenity then?

Reflecting on my ballot -
I say I'm usually highly attuned to preppy BBC bunting'n'bake-off guff, so it comes as a surprise that Clean Bandit should be lumped in with this. Outside of 'Rather Be' as a song, I hadn't really been exposed to Clean Bandit as an outfit, believing for a long time that it was the work of a single producer. It doesn't surprise me that the album was cobblers. This song is too much of a one-off to be repeated again. Despite normally being allergic to this kind of music, I find the sentiment and the 'musicality' of the song totally charming. The way the motif gets passed on from instrument to instrument; the bouncy bassline on the verse; the slightly messy way the organ sounds after she sings 'switch off the battery'; the way the pianos burst in - 'DUN-DUN' just as the chorus comes through. It's joyous and it makes me happy and my partner and I have danced to it so many times this year we can't count. So if this jolly fat joint makes me a Nick Clegg loving, Olympic banner waving, blood sausage eating, G2 reading corny twatbag then I'm all for it.

The System - This is definitely the best thing I've heard from Popcaan. I think the reason it only received one other vote was because it was originally released in 2012, but I discovered it through the album so it's a 2014 release for me. Love the overblown, ever-rising, almost shephard-toney trance synths and especially the lyrics 'system - designed to set me up'

Seasons - Future Islands are a performance art group disguised as an indie synth band. They inhabit a similar 'super-normal' uncanny valley as bands like Talking Heads in my mind. For a long time indie and rock bands have come to shroud themselves in impressionistic soundwashes and half-formed vocals, shying away from bold statements or flamboyance of any sort. It's really refreshing to see a frontman for an alternative band who is so unabashed about dancing and singing like his life depends on it.

How do I request my ballot btw? I can't remember exactly what I voted for.

Popcaan suffered quite heavily from vote splitting by the looks of things, if everyone who'd voted for The System, Everything Nice and Waiting So Long had voted for the same track he'd probably have placed.

Nothing else on the album moved me half as much as The System.

My new year's listening resolution is to check out the Afrobeats thread more. It's fast becoming my favourite type of music.

Surprised to see I was the only one to vote for Neneh Cherry's "Everything"! Folks here seemed to have loved The Blank Project, and I thought that was the clear standout track on it. Still hoping the album will do well in the albums poll...

Also, I came across Good Girl by Nao by sheer chance when skimming through the nominations, thought it was a really good piece of housey pop, and gave it high points... And turns out not even the person who nominated it voted for it, just me. :)

I also liked 'Blank Project' but thought 'Cynical' was probably the standout track.

Ha! That was me. It was a late nomination, added to the ist probably 5 minutes after I'd heard it for the first time. Simply couldn't make room for it on my ballot, but if Nao releases more in 2015 I'll definitely be trying to hear it all.

I was delighted that it won. It was very surprising as well, considering that it was released around the time of the previous years poll and never became a massive inescapable hit, I figured therefore that it would of faded from a lot of people's memory when compiling their ballot.

Lex it was great to see someone else voting for Cam & China and Tamar Braxton. Although I was expecting 'Gettin to It' to have at least 2 votes.

Very pleased to see Rob voting for 'Restraining Order'. That's a great number one as well.

At first I felt bad for not submitting a ballot. I felt better when I saw it wouldn't have made any difference as none of my tracks would have made the 77. But then I saw all the cool stats and features and went back to feeling bad because I'll never know which publication I'm most likely to read.

I occasionally spend evenings watching amazing Kavkaz wedding dance videos on YouTube and this was the soundtrack to one of the best compilations. I've tracked down a few more of her songs and they're all excellent - a similar combination of pop hooks and intricate folk instrumentation. just finally got around to reading this thread, but I voted for it (well, before I lost my password and had to get a new account!) I think maybe you posted it on the rolling albums + tracks thread? I don't recall exactly where I found it, but it was a great recommendation, love the oy-oy's (not sure if they are actually saying something at that point, or just vocalizing?
