£1.24 sez it's Doom-e.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 23 June 2003 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

nope, it's too ilx oriented.

doom-e, Monday, 23 June 2003 11:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 23 June 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

gareth (gareth), Monday, 23 June 2003 12:07 (twenty-two years ago)

First one has Hefner, Gold Chains, Springsteen and two question marks
in the first line. So Dom it hurts.

Second one - not a clue.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 23 June 2003 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I immediately thought Doom-E too. He's the only ILXer I know who likes the Siobhan Donaghy single.

Wild stabs in the dark - #3 Miccio, #4 Dan Perry.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 23 June 2003 12:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Surely the real Miccio would have edited off Good Charlotte as being too obvious. It's too dancey for jel. I think doom-e might be right and it's Blount.

#4 could be Jess but I'm not sure he's awake yet. Tim F surely isn't awake.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 23 June 2003 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

besides prob not being awake, remember how jess hated on "so much love"? i think its... stevem? nah... i dunno.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Monday, 23 June 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

The real Miccio would have put Good Charlotte much higher (I'm still high from flipping by MTV to find "Boys And Girls at #1 on TRL).

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 23 June 2003 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Plus the real Miccio has only heard GC and "In Da CLub" off that top ten.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 23 June 2003 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 23 June 2003 22:24 (twenty-two years ago)

xcept for jody

some of the choices are very much me although i hate "dance commander"

"so much love 2 give" has grown on me, but i still find it unbearable in 75% of circumstances

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 23 June 2003 22:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha! Y'all think I'm Jess! That is awesome.

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Monday, 23 June 2003 22:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Except for the Monarques track*, which I heard on college radio yesterday, all the songs were on either of the two mix CDs I brought to work today.

*think 12 Rods with a cooler vocalist

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Monday, 23 June 2003 22:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I almost said Nate!

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 23 June 2003 22:46 (twenty-two years ago)

The Can and Beyonce tracks made me think it might be Jess, but I wasn't positive because I figured he would hate the Electric Six track.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 23 June 2003 22:47 (twenty-two years ago)

i have been listening to nothing but 2003 music lately so mine would be a dead giveaway

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 23 June 2003 22:48 (twenty-two years ago)

ok who's foofer and whudat?

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 23 June 2003 22:52 (twenty-two years ago)

the one with "not gonna get us" AND deerhoof is so nabisco.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 03:35 (twenty-two years ago)

(And I only just realized, that too is on Peek-a-Boo, home of the cutest wittle underachiever bands ever.)

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm guessing Whudat is Yancey, who knows why. (whoever it is, great pick on Slim Gaillard, one of my favorites!)

The Jovanotti. You once reffed in a thread; I remember him and his brief MTV foray, too!

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

am i allowed to guess witchdoktor's identity?

zebedee (zebedee), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

M Matos (M Matos), Thursday, 26 June 2003 00:47 (twenty-two years ago)

prolly so. you should hear the king creosote disc. i should totally hate it, but it's great: the midpoint between early jethro tull, donovan and the byrds. does that make them fairport convention?

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Thursday, 26 June 2003 00:49 (twenty-two years ago)

indeed it does

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 27 June 2003 04:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Jody--it was the Shoes. I saw you mention Pezband on the "What Are You Been Listening to Today" thread and thought, "Aha! She's on a 70s Midwestern power pop jag." Also, I think maybe you got the Francois de Roubaix from the same place/person I did.

Arthur (Arthur), Friday, 27 June 2003 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

different Shoes -- this band was from Holland.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 27 June 2003 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought jbr got the francois de roubaix from this cdr?

gareth (gareth), Friday, 27 June 2003 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I got it from you, Gareth. You know, at that place. I thought maybe she got it there, too.

What are the Dutch Shoes like, Jody?

That's a million times better than the Midwestern Shoes.

Arthur (Arthur), Friday, 27 June 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

What are the Dutch Shoes like, Jody?

Also powerpoppish ('60s Nuggets-model); think Beatles with a bit of Neil Diamond and blue-eyed soul.

Heh, I don't think there are that many Blues Traveller fans on ILM. (No dis intended - I don't think I've ever heard them.) Modern US lite-rock list + too girly and rootsy for Sterling + not luna (actually probably too modern and rock for luna, who doesn't post to this board that much anyway) = doesn't leave too many options

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 3 July 2003 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

is the evanescence/aguilera/GnR one anthony miccio perhaps?

duane (24 hour troubleshooter), Thursday, 3 July 2003 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Also, Luna would be too old for high school circa 1995.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 3 July 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I figured I'd go with one type of music I hadn't mentioned I'd liked ever before in the past and just go with it, naming ten of the songs I liked most in this arena. I loved many different types of things and this is just one kind of thing I liked. I guess it was a bit soft and "girly" and "adult alternative", but hey, it was the period when I was drooling over this album (which came from a show I watched on a regular basis):

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002J9H.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

In fact, I remember watching this, then "Alternative Nation", on a nightly basis during vacation days, and I always made room for "120 Minutes" and "Headbangers' Ball", and I loved to watch MTV late at night so that I could view videos of the kinds of bands I was interested in at the time (I really should've invested some serious interest in Sunny Day Real Estate back then), and I recorded "The Big '80s" while I was at school so I could at least take quick glances at some videos from the '80s. Then, around 1998 or so, I just lost interest in anything and everything new or video. It took VH1 Classic for me to start watching videos again.

(Note: Music videos have pretty much for the last 12 years been the only good non-online means for me to discover artists that are new to me or new music from artists I already like. Our local radio stations have always been crap and have always played the same thing over and over again. So thank God for digital cable and its "audio channel" options and VH1 Classic, and thank God for the Internet.)

Innocent Dreamer (Dee the Lurker), Thursday, 3 July 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

"The Cowboy Song," Thin Lizzy

sundar subramanian (sundar), Friday, 4 July 2003 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)
