I have lots of these, but the one I've just been listening to is:

"Hero" by Chad Kroeger and some other hairy bloke.

It's nonsensical, Big Rock Ballad guff of the first order, but I find it genuinely stirring. That quiet midlle-eight bit gives me the shivers.

America, "A Horse With No Name": Idiotic lyrics ("The heat was hot", worthy of Ed Wood), simplistic music (non-guitarists can learn it in 20 minutes), lazy singing (a sub-Neil Young whine of barely more than two seesawing notes), and just a general air of ridiculous pseudo-profundity that supposedly inspired the witty Randy Newman to describe it as "a song about a kid who thinks he's taken acid." By no means is this a great song, probably not even a good one. Yet I never shut it off, and I'm old enough to remember hearing it for the first time as a preschooler, when it was first released. (My dad liked it.) Just little things make me love it. The gentle swing of the congas and loping bass. The cluster of harmonized guitars during the break. And a neat bit of vocal arranging by the trio: The lead singer sings the first refrain solo, then he's joined by one bandmember for the second chorus, then after the third and final verse all three of 'em harmonize. And their harmony singing is kinda nice.

I don't see what's stopping you. It's pretty easy to find on CD these days. I think there is a neat two-fer pack that includes both albums on one CD, though they have to edit a few songs for length. I realize you must think there is like a 5% chance of the album actually being good, all I can say is hey, I like it... :)
