What an amazing record! This record is like the best indie feelings combined with the best electrohouse ones.
YSI on the way for anyone who missed the first one.

Ronan did you ever hear the Thomas Brinkmann remix of Depeche Mode's "I Feel Loved" from a few years ago? It sort of anticipated Trentemoller's remix sound (also probably the most populist think Brinkmann's ever done).

― Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 13:50 (twenty years ago)
He has released some pretty high-profile singles over the last 12 months - "Beta Boy", "Physical Fraction", "Polar Shift", "Sunstroke", a few others - each one usually weirder and more psychedelic but less anthemic than the last. The remixes are a bit more peak time.

Oh man, you do not have a clue ... have you heard "Le Champagne" or "In Progress"?
"Beta Boy" is pretty fuckin' massive" and "weird trippy electro (ketamine) house"
And "In Progress" is "plush deep house".
I am sorry but I am fed up with this snobbery. Both tracks are pure Trentemoller, both are amazing, BUT ... one is on a hip label Danish label, and the other one on a untrendy big American one.
― ifeelspace, Tuesday, 25 October 2005 14:18 (twenty years ago)
I don't mean "plush" as an insult. I love "Le Champagne"! I haven't heard "In Progress" i don't think.

― Omar (Omar), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 15:08 (twenty years ago)
Tim, do you mean both on big deep house labels, now making electrohouse?
The Unai remix is great too as people have said, though I am almost as much a fan of the Breitbarth remix of the same.
― Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)
Yes, plus both used to make big plush deep house records (e.g. Freeform Five's classic remix of "Beau Mot Plage"), both specialise in awesome massive maximalist remixes with more stuff going on than you can poke a stick at.
I wonder what Trentemoller's like as a DJ?!?

he played in glasgow recently and all reports were that he was fab. apparently he scratches a lot. i really like a lot of his stuff but find i have to edit out a few bits before i can play them. well, on the unai and royksopp anyway. the fred everything is great too but my fave is the sharon phillips. rock the bells!

The Mathias Schafhauser is the one I've played the most I'd say. It is crazy.
Which parts do you edit out stirmonster?

hee - all the vocals which is kind of odd as i usually play lots of songs, but her out of the knife does my nut in. with the unai, i just use the last third of it. i might like the sharon phillips so much because i love 'rock the bells' / the 'mardi gras break' and also because it samples an old and much loved danish rave classic called 'kaos' by dr. baker.
ps - ronan, if you see jon, tell him i'll email him imminently about backlash. i've been away for a week and have an email backlog i should be attending to rather than posting on here.

yeah sure, he gets very touchy about unreturned emails, he will eventually use the all caps, especially if he's asked you to bring a clipboard with you or something, haha!
should be a great night, we've really hit another level lately, in terms of numbers and also enthusiasm. I couldn't sleep with exceitement after the last time I played it was so crazy.

But then I tend to like any house music which sounds like Siouxsie/Depeche Mode ("micro-goth" etc.). Did anyone else ever check out that Vredus remix of Blumfeld's "Neuer Morgen" that I used to big up round these parts? Still great.

I myself am not much a fan of this genre.

anyway I'm listening to 'the forest' right now and sounds like some perfect mid-point between schneiderTM's "the light 2000", auch's "remix tomorrow goodbye (farben rmx)" and some fanfare from heaven's lobby in hell

Lex the JLC remix is a bit like his production work for Madonna, it's been designed for radio, kinda moody and trancey if I recall.
The Thin White Duke mix meanwhile is halcyonic psychedelic filter-disco, like Linus Loves' "The Terrace" or Space Cowboy's "I Would Die 4 U", but with a strong dose of The Chemical Brothers circa their third or fourth album e.g. the second half of "The State We're In".
