1. Coldplay 2. Jack Johnson 3. The Postal Service 4. DMB 5. The Beatles 6. Death Cab for Cutie 7. The Killers 8. Green Day 9. Radiohead 10. Modest Mouse
And fact: the worse the school, the lower the Beatles are. I am totally serious: based on extensive research.

In retrospect, I think the funniest thing about Facebook was getting a crush on some girl or another in one of my classes, then tracking said girl down on Facebook and being all excited, only to instantly lose interest at the sight of something like this:
------ Favorite Music: The Fray, Dave Barnes, Dierks Bentley, Snow Patrol, Michael Buble, Hellogoodbye, Honestly, Five For Fighting, John Mayer, Lifehouse, Matt Wertz, Damien Rice, Stephen Speaks, James Blunt, Keith Urban, Jason Mraz, Tim McGraw, Jack Johnson, Cold play, Switchfoot, Gavin Degraw, Maroon 5 ------
And I mean, that's just a generic example. This has probably happened to me dozens of times in my college years. I eventually gave up on girls I dated having good taste in music.

put the details and a link to the event in a status update of your page so it appears on all the fans feed.
make the event public so all the invited people who are attending have it show up on their news feed for their friends to see.
also allow others to invite friends.
much better promotion than you could ever ask for on myspace.

I think the life-death cycle for Facebook is finally kicking in (a la Friendster and MySpace)... Already know a half-dozen or so people who've cancelled their FB account. No reason other than they're just bored with it.

people were canceling their FB accounts two/three years ago two. I don't think FB is going the way of Myspace or Friendster any time soon - Friendster was run ridiculously as a business, Myspace didn't really ever get the grown-up-world presence that FB has. The real FB killer is Twitter, and the two have integrated pretty comfortably

While I kinda understand the above view, I also find some of it a tad amusing, at least in the context of the threads I post on and look at here, and my FB friends. Somehow, I do not think that me putting an ilx Chitlin Circuit Soul posting (that is currently read by 3 people maybe) or a Latin or Global Music one on my FB page is gonna cause me embarrassment or bring 'uncool' FB people here. Actually those ILX threads could use a few more people posting. Maybe the rap goons like having only 5 or 6 people posting on that rolling thread?

I don't know exactly why I'm enjoying this so much, but there may be a German word for it.

weird this is on ilm?
Oh its this weird thing where a guys blog cant be linked to on facebook without a captcha and other stuff
http://scriptonitedaily.wordpress.com/2013/04/25/facebook-censors-users-during-media-blackout-on-privatisation-of-the-nhs/
probably a thing like nortons does when wordpress gets marked as spam for one blog so the whole thing gets marked but still. Ive never been asked to do a captcha for posting a link before and it seems weird.

facebook used to be even weirder. the top tens. telling you when people stopped being friends or when someone stopped being a fan of something.

Facebook's algorithms remind me of a well-meaning but obnoxious co-worker who keeps butting into conversations.
"Hey, guys, you hear about what the Red Hot Chili Peppers did now?""Facebook, why do you think any of us care about what the Red Hot Chili Peppers did now?""Lots of people are talking about them.""Are we talking about them? Do we ever talk about them?""I mean. You guys like music, right?""That wasn't the question.""OK, I'll come clean. You seem to be talking about lighting Nazis on fire an awful lot lately, and I thought you could use something to take your mind off things.""So you're suggesting we light Chad Smith on fire? I mean. It's not the stupidest thing you've ever suggested.""Oh, no, I didn't mean..." (face turns beet red, runs away)

I found a credit card in the street the other day and within 48 hours had located the owner (two towns over) on Facebook, ascertained that she wanted it destroyed, sent her a picture of me cutting it up and received a message of profuse thanks. It was like a window into a bizarre universe where the site had some kind of useful purpose.

Facebook is pushing that "share a memory" junk where they make custom videos out of your old photos to boost engagement and I just literally got shown a bunch of happy cartoon characters dancing on my mom's grave. 🤦♂️ pic.twitter.com/6NKIXqqq9I— Patrick Gerard (@PatrickGerard01) August 21, 2018

Not to victim-blame; but images of loved ones’ graves are perhaps better suited for Tumblr.
