the home includes 6,527 square feet of living space, including 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. In addition to the recording studio space, the home features nine fireplaces, two master suites, library, solarium, media and rec center

and a huge sandbox

I always wonder what semi popular indie musicians in particular do for money when so much of their years are taken up by touring across great distances to play at venues that cannot possibly cover expenses. Ties in here since it would be interesting to see the kind of homes they can afford too.

The stove in the Louis Armstrong's kitchen long postdates his lifetime - looks like circa 2005.

Rest of kitchen is awesome though. I want those radio-dial cabinet pulls! And the 1972 microwave oven and the NuTone thingie built into the countertop

Lee626, Thursday, 17 May 2012 18:16 (eleven years ago) link

That kitchen is excellent. Represent!

Louis Armstrong's kitchen looks a bit like (but I'm sure it isn't) a Lustron prefab; they had metal built-ins.

I remember when Neil was on Leno in 1992 after one or two predictable questions from Jay, Neil said, "You know, I'd much rather play with this train you've got back here." For some reason, an electric train was part of the Tonight Show set. Neil jumped up and began moving things around (plants and such) to get to the train, to the surprise of Leno.

Media room is nice, yeah. Sort of like the study too but I wouldn't want walls that busy *as a study*. Kitchen is just a kitchen - the only thing that I'm like "yes" to is the sheer amount of room they have, y'know. If someone gave me that house I wouldn't be anything other than made up about it, but the decor is yawwwwwwwwn for the most part.

Hard to really get a sense of the homes because the pictures are so tight on the musicians. From what I can see, I don't think I'd like to live in any of them.
