Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 17:20 (twenty years ago)

While GTA: Vice City was basically making Scarface into a game, the actual upcoming Scarface game based on the premise that T Montana turns round and notices the hitman with the shotgun, kills him and all the other guys in his mansion, recovers from his several hundred bullet wounds and the death of his best friend and sister and then KEEPS GOING, well, that seems like a bit of a bad idea. Also the Godfather one, if that's still going ahead.

Also, y'know, Doom. And Crash. Either of them.

Laura H. (laurah), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 18:10 (twenty years ago)

my point re: James Bond movies, well, what the fuck do the videogames actually have to do with 007? Much less the famed multiplayer mode? Why the hell pay for the license? And if you did pay for the license and actually make a game based on the James Bond franchise, where the gameplay tried to really resemble the action in the films, well, that game would suck. Walking around talking to crazy rich women followed by deus ex machina escape from exploding secret base at the end. Come on.

RJM got Godfather for himself when he was at Bestbuy getting my presents. Replaying the basic scenes of a movie + unlocking clips of said movie + FPS = not at all interesting to me. But he says it's okay, violent, lots of cussing, lacking in sex (even though there is apparently a romance angle).

I don't know though, I'd really like to see Kung Fu Hustle as a game, or maybe Shaolin Soccer.

TOMBOT (TOMBOT), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:33 (twenty years ago)

Smartest Guys In The Room would be a great game. "SimScam"

TOMBOT (TOMBOT), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:34 (twenty years ago)

The Godfather game is actually pretty fun. It's a bit like GTA3 in that there's an impressively big city but not that much to do in it beyond the (few) missions and the three or four set ways to make money. But the actual fighting is better than any of the GTA games.

The whole "you've got to take over everything until you're the DON" thing and saying "get out of the car motherfucker" do seem a bit anvil-fisted though.

Michael A Neuman (Ferg), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:48 (twenty years ago)

He did say it seemed to be using an actual map of NYC, so getting to Jersey or someplace took FOREVER. But, that all the butcher shops were exactly the same. EA people not be working hard enough on diversity in those 85 hour weeks!

Jaq (Jaq), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:53 (twenty years ago)

I'd play a game based on The Decline of Western Civilization but not one based on Jandek On Corwood.

adam (adam), Friday, 5 May 2006 17:27 (twenty years ago)

you have to drive for WAY too much time in godfather.

also it makes no sense that if you're like, almost don, you're still robbing banks and storming compounds BY YOURSELF.

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 5 May 2006 17:43 (twenty years ago)

Cube. I suppose in theory it could be fun if you used different puzzles to the prime number thing or whatever it was, but I'm already visualising throwing the controller at the screen out of frustration.

Different cube.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 5 May 2006 20:41 (twenty years ago)

was it "Gleaming The Cube"?

polyphonic (polyphonic), Friday, 5 May 2006 20:53 (twenty years ago)

Kingfish, are you talking about a sort of sci-fi Smash Bros fighting game, where you were able to run up and down the walls of a cube, and every now and then the cube would rotate? Possibly called something like Blast Chamber? If so, I've wanted this game since it came out. Played it twice and it was soooo good.

melton mowbray's APOCALYPTO! (adr), Saturday, 6 May 2006 02:19 (twenty years ago)

People need to go back to comedy video game movie tie ins.

I'm still laughing at the idea of AMISTAD PS3, take control of a young lawyer as he seeks to win a legal battle over the ownership rights for a group of slaves.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 6 May 2006 11:37 (twenty years ago)

to run up and down the walls of a cube, and every now and then the cube would rotate?

yeah. some sorta puzzle room by puzzle room thing.

kingfish doesn't live here anymore (kingfish 2.0), Saturday, 6 May 2006 15:35 (twenty years ago)

ah christ.

Reservoir Dogs

Based on the Quentin Tarantino flick, game remains faithful to the original movie, with gamers able to play all the key characters, including the infamous Mr Blonde. Staying true to the original plot, this intense, third person shooter follows the progress and planning of the famed diamond heist while filling in some of the cliffhanger questions from the film: What happened to Mr. Blue and Mr. Brown? Where did Mr. Pink hide the diamonds? What actually happened at the heist? These questions and more will be answered as the game unfolds and according to the player’s tactics. The game also features the full and original soundtrack from the movie – those super sounds of the seventies

Uncle Muncle (Michael White), Tuesday, 18 November 2008 21:25 (seventeen years ago)

Under the console name? When Arsenal were sponsored by Sega they had to have special Champions League shirts that replaced "Sega" with "Dreamcast", to avoid the inevitable hilarity when they visited Italy.
