i'm guessing the nfl doesn't like the way records would be broken with college-style OT, dudes throwing an extra three touchdowns because they started on the 20, etc. but they could also just declare 'these stats don't count' and give the winning team one extra point

College OT makes stats wacky and for fantasy football, that would be kind of a thing.

The Pro OT as it is now seems reasonable, losing sudden death on a 50 yard FG seemed kinda cheap and this evens it out.

Atlanta could have gotten the ball, but it would not have mattered, that team was half dead tired and the other half had the deer in the head light look.
