that gleeful little squint and headroll is hilariously reminiscent of a good friend of mine

good luck with that.

i wasn't there for the birth of ws but i thought it was always supposed to go with how creepy and dommy p the thread intention was? keysy fits right in with whoever it was this morning going "oh noes! her skin has a slight mark! ew!"

Keys on TalkSport in a few minutes apparently.

oh crap that means i have to stop listening to the elgar viloin sonata on r3

henri grenouille (Frogman Henry), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 13:31 (thirteen years ago) link

I wonder if the "smash it"/"hanging out the back of it" thing will come up, guessing not.

onimo, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 13:31 (thirteen years ago) link

Keys is the oldest person i've ever heard say 'smash it' - picked it up from the runner?

idgi fridays (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 13:37 (thirteen years ago) link

this is great

henri grenouille (Frogman Henry), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 13:40 (thirteen years ago) link

he actually tried to twist it around to blaming brady for not taking his calls

henri grenouille (Frogman Henry), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 13:41 (thirteen years ago) link

hawksbee and jacobs oozing subtle disdain for him

henri grenouille (Frogman Henry), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 13:42 (thirteen years ago) link

also apparently it's not the time to have the discussion about the appropriateness of sexist banter, even thoughe he says he's apologised for it several times

henri grenouille (Frogman Henry), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 13:44 (thirteen years ago) link

"political correctness gone maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!"

The referee was perfect (Chris), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 13:48 (thirteen years ago) link

i pray hawksbee does not think that himself, though i distrust him since harry hill's i wanna baby single

henri grenouille (Frogman Henry), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 13:49 (thirteen years ago) link

"dark forces" lol

The referee was perfect (Chris), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 13:50 (thirteen years ago) link

"it's for others to say whether we were the best at our job, we like to think we were"

henri grenouille (Frogman Henry), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 13:53 (thirteen years ago) link

"leave sian massey alone, get off her case"

classic tactics being employed here

henri grenouille (Frogman Henry), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 13:57 (thirteen years ago) link

this is getting very awkward isn't it.

The referee was perfect (Chris), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 14:33 (thirteen years ago) link

he's very very defensive, and not mortified about what he said at all.

henri grenouille (Frogman Henry), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 14:36 (thirteen years ago) link

what a curious interview

zvookster, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 14:39 (thirteen years ago) link

he's mortified about what's been made about it and that he was caught. the repeated 'im very sorry, not for myself, but for others' is absolutely head achign in its insincerity.

henri grenouille (Frogman Henry), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 14:39 (thirteen years ago) link

i feel like he kind of turned it around by the end, the stuff about behavior that needs reconstructing and stuff like that. i don't feel like he's insincere because i kind of believe he wants to resign in protest at andy grey being sacked, & is too conceited want to keep his job at all cost

zvookster, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 14:42 (thirteen years ago) link

Keys granting his interview to the official radio voice of white van man is a clever move on his part, he knows he's talking to an audiencce of people who basically agree with him.

Inspector Anthony Slade, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 14:45 (thirteen years ago) link

Did they really run an erectile dysfunction ad straight after the interview?

Matt DC, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 14:48 (thirteen years ago) link

is it plausible that it took a media firestorm for keys to consider the ramifications of this shit? it hardly seems it.

"that's for others to decide" abt stuff that he obv agreed with, and brady not taking his calls, and "you hear more complaints than support when something like this happens" and his "she got the call right, thank god" and charlotte "SHE CAN HANDLE HERSELF" and oh so many things, absolutely infuriating

zvookster, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 14:50 (thirteen years ago) link

who exactly is "on sian massey's case"...he's the dickhead who called her entire career into question. also "just banter" etc...fuck off. "just banter" is the new standard defence of racism/sexism etc.

major lols in my office at the bit about brady "i don't know why she didn't take the call". hmmm i can think of a reason!!

bog standard 'mea culpa i need to go pray with my pastor' stuff, no?

What are these DARK FORCES that are massing against him?

Matt DC, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 14:55 (thirteen years ago) link

dark, hairy forces

henri grenouille (Frogman Henry), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 15:02 (thirteen years ago) link

if he wasn't such a repulsive fella i'd have some sympathy for him. if you're 50-odd and going around talking about smashing and banging and the other stuff he's on about at every opportunity, in the way he's on about it, then you're a sad sad man with some significant issues to work out.

yeah maybe, maybe i was just dying for some shit that was clearly not coded stuff for his supporters

OTM (except I wouldn't feel sympathy). He comes across as someone who actually *hates* women. And in the 'smash it' clip, he just comes across as desperately trying to ingratiate himself with Redknapp etc.

Death and Taxis (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 15:19 (thirteen years ago) link

i feel disappointed he's been allowed to try and apologise for this. nothing he says alters the hateful tone. like if there was an element of wit in what he said you could call it banter, even if it was offensive. but that "do us a favour love" and worse, his "HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH" in all these emerging clips just damns the guy. what a rodent.

So basically, everyone who has ever worked on Soccer Sunday hates them and will be partying in the streets like Thatcher's just died.

Also enjoyed his lofty "my information is it does" with reference to Rio Ferdinand and whether 'this sort of thing' goes on in Utd dressing room. His information?? Has he got some network of spies or something?

xp my default football drawing is the 1970 World Cup ball, even though I wasn't born for another 15 years.

Plus: Andy Grey is sacked for sexist jibes. But are his comments really any worse than Loose Women's constant digs at men?
