Blackpool 1 Barnsley 0 match report: Injury time own goal from Scott Wiseman sees Blackpool take late win
Defender was unlucky to deflect a last minute long throw into his own net and give Paul Ince two wins out of two

^^^this happened in August. pretty much sounds like the most savage end to a match you could hope to experience

had to think for a minute. looked a decent left back iirc

Davies, who won the Kent League with Erith & Belvedere last season, became Stones manager Jay Saunders’ fourth summer signing in June. And life in the Ryman League Premier Division hasn’t fazed him.

He said: “It’s been going really well, up until Saturday.

"It’s been a little bit different and it took a little while to adjust to the different quality of players. But it didn’t take too long, though."

Wellfed Brony (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Monday, 7 October 2013 00:59 (ten years ago) link

I was at Colchester vs Wolves on Saturday...still not sure if Colchester were just abysmal or if Wolves were alright. That's my match report.

the Shearer of simulated snowsex etc. (Dwight Yorke), Monday, 7 October 2013 10:27 (ten years ago) link

That's the problem when trying to describe 90% of lower league football innit. Basically just a slightly fitter version of Sunday league, with no real tactical nous or technical ability.

oppet, Monday, 7 October 2013 10:59 (ten years ago) link

reports i've read say we were pretty good, and this is after 3 or 4 stinky performances so i'm inclined to believe them

Bap & Ounge (Noodle Vague), Monday, 7 October 2013 11:26 (ten years ago) link

you had that touch of class at times, I'll grant you that, just a bit pacier, a bit more confident on the ball. I had dreadful seats (pretty much behind the goal) so I struggled to get a decent overview (LOL) of the game. Good fans though.

the Shearer of simulated snowsex etc. (Dwight Yorke), Monday, 7 October 2013 11:54 (ten years ago) link

you a Colchester fan?

check yr poptimism (imago), Monday, 7 October 2013 11:55 (ten years ago) link

i have literally no idea if our squad as is wd compete in the Champo - kinda suspect not at the moment, but some of our kids ought to be men come the end of this season

Bap & Ounge (Noodle Vague), Monday, 7 October 2013 12:01 (ten years ago) link

Norwich fan at heart but from Colchester and have been going to games sporadically since '03. Lost proper interest in them when they moved to the new stadium.

the Shearer of simulated snowsex etc. (Dwight Yorke), Monday, 7 October 2013 14:04 (ten years ago) link

but it's in the middle of a field! gotta love a stadium in the middle of a field

check yr poptimism (imago), Monday, 7 October 2013 14:06 (ten years ago) link

i'd have more faith in the Football League Show if they could correctly identify players getting fouled in the box. pretty sure they have a few hours to get these minor details right before broadcast.

Bap & Ounge (Noodle Vague), Monday, 7 October 2013 16:48 (ten years ago) link

keep telling myself the Paintpot doesn't deserve its own thread

fun tho!

Bap & Ounge (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 8 October 2013 16:56 (ten years ago) link

JPT doesn't even get live score coverage on the BBC website tonight ffs. Probably a good thing, as Brentford's season is messageboard hyperbole falling apart.

"Left-wing" poptimism: An infantile disorder (oppet), Tuesday, 8 October 2013 19:34 (ten years ago) link

poor first half from the Wolves, again.

i'd be more pissed off with the state TV station's attitude to lower league football but i'm used to them being cunts by now.

Bap & Ounge (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 8 October 2013 19:37 (ten years ago) link

I don't expect much from the BBC's coverage but their reports for all tonight's games are still in blank template form which is just inept.

1-0 down Rosler out somebody in.

messageboard hyperbole falling apart

I commend this valuable and necessary addition to the lexicon.

The 'Griffin Park Grapevine' is not too bad as these things go tbf. No animated gif avatars of naked women, only a vague sheen of right-wing dickery. But it is going through a difficult time right now. I think the Doncaster game last season might have caused deep emotional trauma.

"Left-wing" poptimism: An infantile disorder (oppet), Tuesday, 8 October 2013 19:50 (ten years ago) link

shd've conceded right from kick off there, weirdly listless for 3 quarters of the "first team"

Bap & Ounge (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 8 October 2013 19:52 (ten years ago) link

ffs don't really care who scores now just don't wanna sit thru penalties

I should by now be in Kings Lynn to see my first match since 2008. It wasn't really that thrilling a prospect in the first place, but my day is unravelling. Got to Kings Cross to discover my train was cancelled. Then realised ALL trains out of KX were cancelled. Headed over to Liverpool Street to try to get a slower service changing at Cambridge. Hundreds of people had had the same idea - the train was rammed to bursting point and dozens were left on the platform. Decided to try a fiendishly complex alternative route. Eventually got on a train that went within a couple of miles of my house some two hours after I'd left it. Currently watching my weekend disappear at Stansted Airport.

a) from bitter personal experience, much can go wrong on the British rail network

b) pub time
