The Heff is being linked with QPR. He's one paced, looks and runs like a lower league clogger, but he's bizarrely + deceptively quite an awesome CB, just what is needed for the long haul of a champo promotion campaign. The platonic ideal of a 90's football style 'legend' - good in the dressing room almost certain cult status with a majority of fans after a month!

Hey Aldo, any particular opinion on Dara O'Shea? It's our turn to have him on loan this year, apparently.
― Tim, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 18:20 (six years ago) link
Just woke up and saw that. Great player, no disrespect but too good for your league even never mind ours. Ball playing centre half, good with his head and feet. Full of confidence going forward and marshalls a defence well.
I had assumed after relegation he would waltz into the West Brom side.

Colin Quaner was a done deal to Preston North End, and then apparently the deal collapsed when he told Alex Neil that he disapproved of his training timetable, and would have to train separately at his preferred hours if he wanted him to sign! Lol! he barely even resembles a park footballer at times, bless him!

The prospect of Leeds Utd actually employing a good manager for the first time in their post 1960 history is causing me some serious angst.
― calzino, Tuesday, 14 August 2018 23:26 (six years ago) link
Still not back, don't leave till tomorrow.
According to mates at the game, Leamington started playing for time after about half an hour including the manager telling their #9 (who by all accounts was their best player) to "go down as if you're injured" on the hour mark. (Our seats are directly above the opposition benches otherwise I'd be sceptical.) Two blantant handballs in the lead up to our first which was given for a third handball in the same move although apparently this one was ball-to-man.
10 points from 4 games not a bad start. Still need someone else up front.

― calzino, Saturday, 18 August 2018 19:32 (six years ago) link
Injury time winner for Chorley during the 8 minutes added because the ref had to be replaced through injury. Then again we beat Leamington with an injury time winner during the week so we've got 3 points from the games instead of the two we would have had with the 'right' results.
Just signed Jordan Lam from Cardiff Met, apparently he's the best forward player in the Welsh Premier League whatever that's worth.
I doubt for Chester's viability. Lost 8-1 to Blyth a couple of weeks ago, the manager called the players out on it and a couple (including their real talents) have gone. The club then suffered some 'storm damage' which looked like just a couple of collapsed ceiling tiles but has somehow rendered their ground unable to play games ever since. They told us on Saturday the BH Monday fame probably isn't going ahead which will mean they gave cancelled more games than they've played. All the rumours are that insolvency is days away.

Whenever Leeds make a good start to the season the overheated hysteria and bollox talked on Radio Leeds/Look North/Calendar is easy to ignore or treat with the laughable contempt it deserves, normally. But this Bielsa seems like the real deal. What a troubling situation. I might even get the rosaries out and say a daily morning prayer for their season to go to shit and for Danny Mills and Noel Whelan to die in a M62 pile up.

I have so far managed to maintain my boycott of Franchise (we've played them a couple of times) but these are special circumstances and I really really want to go to this one.
I am working up a Franchise Ticket Fee Offset Scheme (FF-Offs I call it) where any of my mates who'd (a) ordinarily buy a beer or two at half time in the bar (I know who they are) and (b) choose not to buy any "refreshments" at the ground
can have an additional pint on me after the game.
I reckon if I can divert approx. £20 - £25 of bar spend to a pub rather than the club bar that will offset most of the benefit to the club of my ticket.

Nahki won't be the answer to QPR's woes, he's hardly played in the last year and his profligacy in front of goal makes him not much better than Conor Washington these days. And he is a bit of a needy fragile ego type, who doesn't knuckle down. Last type of player you need in a relegation scrap. Although maybe a bit early for the "r" word, but lets face it, Schteve is a fucking useless twat!

Yeah we are re-doing our away end and old grandstand. Particularly sorry to see the old main stand go but it was knocking on 100 years old and mostly made of wood and asbestos aiui, at severe risk of falling down. Am slightly sorry our new away end will have a roof, watching Argyle fans standing in the hammering rain and losing is unbeatable.
