― nxd, Friday, 18 May 2018 20:50 (five years ago) link
Likewise. When we were booking our holiday I checked the playoff dates and made sure we wouldn’t be away for the playoff final. However I am a dumbass and now I hope to be watching the game from my mother-in-Law’s front room in Illinois.

How are you feeling about Monday's fun, nxd? It's weird for us, there's definitely less excitement around this Wembley trip than there has been for previous ones - that's partly because I think we're still smarting from last year (when I - and plenty of other City fans - think we had a team who were better than Blackpool's and froze on the day), partly because we've done a lot of unconvincing winning this year rather than looking awesome. Also partly because of the odd position with our manager (which I'll talk about if anyone's interested). Also also it seems likely that we'll be outnumbered four to one in terms of fans!
― Tim, Wednesday, 23 May 2018 09:48 (five years ago) link
haha - i'm excited! hope the game's fun, coventry at least play well, tisdale wears a hat and if we do falter, we at least can keep hold of mcnulty and jodi jones for next year
it's really my main gripe, promotion meaning we lose three or four of the best we have, i'd throw bayliss and grimmer in thereotherwise, i've much more enjoyed this season to the previous five or six, so if we exeter do go up, pls pls cov have a similar or better year next season
can't make it to wembley unfortunately, but three of my best friends are brackley fans who went last weekend and had a great time, told them to leave some luck behind for us
think exeter are the better team, but we've been so inconsistent this season between amazing and awful it could easily be 4-0 to either ha

So Sunderland end up with the guy Rangers should have gone for - if only he'd been a big enough name for them - put your money on Sunderland winning League One in a cakewalk...

Bruce was saying he'd have respectfully let JT take a day off against Chelsea next season in the EPL, it'll be a bitter blow for him to now have to play extra games!

somewhat glad shrewsbury didn't go up. looking forward to righting a few wrongs next season
― imago, Sunday, 27 May 2018 21:10 (five years ago) link
I don’t suppose there’s anyone in the world who’s remotely invested in “the best team” winning tomorrow! Appreciated anyway. Obv I want very badly for us to win but all best wishes etc NXD.
― Tim, Sunday, 27 May 2018 21:19 (five years ago) link
Shrewsbury’s goal today was an absolute wonder, really well-worked free kick from the edge of the box, best I’ve seen for ages.
― Tim, Sunday, 27 May 2018 21:22 (five years ago) link
shrewsbury's goal today was reminiscent of one scored by iirc bristol city in the playoffs a few years ago

the second pass was better this time around maybe
― imago, Sunday, 27 May 2018 21:24 (five years ago) link
I liked this one better because the angles were tighter and it seemed to be designed to exploit the big space in the area left by an advancing wall. Have a bloke on the far end of the wall who just sits and makes sure he doesn’t get caught offside. V clever I thought.
― Tim, Sunday, 27 May 2018 21:37 (five years ago) link
Both the Shrewsbury chairman and manager look like complete fucking Tory jerkoffs, not that I'm particularly fond of Millers either!
― calzino, Sunday, 27 May 2018 22:10 (five years ago) link
gl tim! no idea what formation youre playing ha, seems you've changed a striker for a left back from yr last game
― nxd, Monday, 28 May 2018 13:11 (five years ago) link
tbf we dont really use a formation especially in midfield, i think this one has goals in
― nxd, Monday, 28 May 2018 13:14 (five years ago) link
I’m guessing he’s going 5-4-1 to try to keep it tight for an hour but that seems v risky on a hot day. If it’s 0-0 after an hour keep an eye out for Kane Wilson. I don’t think it will be 0-0 after an hour. Anyway I am in a bedroom in an already-roasting Illinois (it’ll get to 100 degrees today most likely). I have my legal ESPN+ feed sorted but the stream doesn’t start until 5 minutes before kickoff so no tv build up. It feels weird. I’m going to have a bagel and try not to think about it for a few minutes.
― Tim, Monday, 28 May 2018 13:20 (five years ago) link
Xp agree about the goals but we’ve very little pace in midfield so we’ll have trouble hitting you in the break unless Jayden Stockley does his solo act thing.
― Tim, Monday, 28 May 2018 13:22 (five years ago) link
I really wanted to watch this, but I've got be at the swimming baths for 3. Another non-partisan gl lads! Although I still think Robins is a total bottling cunt after he walked out on Town after an opening day arsekicking from Bournemouth!

Yeah I’m super-gutted obv but Coventry have obviously deserved it on the day. Well done nxd. The approach of keeping the game quiet and winning the last half hour has been effective for Tisdale on the whole. The problem is that it’s miserable when it doesn’t work. Haha we just scored.
― Tim, Monday, 28 May 2018 15:48 (five years ago) link
4 great goals! commiserations tim, hope you guys can keep the team together and smash it next yearsat in the pub next to a 45 yr old cov fan who has never seen us promoted before, p weird feeling

Which reminds me, we were one Coventry goal away from GARETH AINSWORTH topping this list https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_Premier_League_and_English_Football_League_managers
could still happen if Morecambe fancy a change
