Looks like we'll make it to August before we all get knocked out of Europe this year!

I didn't realise the keeper that's been letting in all the goals is on Liverpool's books and went out on loan to try and work his way up their pecking order.

You could say Hearts played a bit dirty (I'd contend most of them were "good yellows") or blame it on the grass length, but with the ball we were playing great football. Uche has been a find and a half.

Minister of the Pillow (fionnland), Saturday, 11 August 2018 13:55 (five years ago) link

Hearts competed better for every ball. Worthy winners.

Naismith is a rat bastard sad excuse for a hard man. He's also stupid - Hayes being injured improves Celtic.

I'd like to be able to support Celtic in Europe - not just for the sake of the coefficient but because I actually like to see Scottish clubs doing well - but the money gap it creates is so bloody ridiculous.

So it seems that the brief tenure of Lafferty being "our c**t" is over and he is now back to "a c**t".

Ideally we reinvest the funds in a defender pronto since Berra is crocked for most of the season. Someone the right side of 30 would be ideal.

Gareth McAuley would work short term but hmm, longer term? Don't want another Hughes.

Alternatively, if the Ross Callaghan plus cash rumour is to be believed, on the attacking front I am really interested in how Shankland would fare in the Premiership.

Minister of the Pillow (fionnland), Wednesday, 22 August 2018 11:03 (five years ago) link

oh hello new thread!

I reckon Berra's a much bigger loss than Lafferty. I fear Shankland would be yet another Gavin Reilly / Dennis Wyness figure.

Bright new dawn at Ibrox - park the bus, pin your hopes on Allan McGregor and occasionally hoof the ball upfield... to Kyle Lafferty. Are you Walter Smith in disguise?

Scottish Country Twerking (Tom D.), Sunday, 2 September 2018 17:13 (five years ago) link

Talking of Kyle Lafferty, I somehow missed this little nugget from his time with Palermo:

He scored 11 goals in 34 matches to help the club ascend to Serie A as champions in his only season, and won the Fans Player of the Season award. However, club president Maurizio Zamparini called him an "out-of-control womaniser" and claimed that this lifestyle resulted in him being sold.[26]

Scottish Country Twerking (Tom D.), Sunday, 2 September 2018 17:49 (five years ago) link

He told Italian radio in 2014: "He is an out-of-control womaniser, an Irishman without rules. He is someone who disappears for a week and goes on the hunt for women in Milan.

"He has two families with six children, he never trains, and he's completely off the rails. On the field he's a great player, because he gave us everything he had and more.

"In terms of his behaviour, however, he is uncontrollable. My coach told me he cannot sort this player out, so he has to go."

Kept Paolo Dybala out of the side too haha.

Brown hit in three separate off the ball incidents (one of them off the game) and he's named by Andy Walker at the end as someone who could face action afterwards. For smiling and celebrating presumably.

Rangers are garbage. We were almost as bad for 20 minutes.

Treble treble!

That was a nervy final, Hearts played really well - bossed midfield for most of the game quite comfortably.

French Eddy seems completely lacking in nerves. His goals since Lennie arrived have been huge - no Eddie no treble.

I'm not convinced by our football since Lennie came back and I'm worried he's been employed as a cheap option - not just in wages but in summer transfers. Any of the other names linked with us would have wanted commitment in terms of investment but imo Lennie would take the job no matter what.
