In return, here's a nice pic of Archie...

Lovely Archie!

A trip to see their nana up on Merseyside - the highlight of which is always the ice-cream rest-stop 50 miles from the end in rural Cheshire. In the last pic, Ava wanders through my childhood park. They've landscaped the tennis courts, y'know.

His mother won't cut his hair and doesn't understand why people keep asking how old her daughter is.

I love how different your kids are! Mine are so similar. I was looking at pics at my parents' place in Tokyo. I was sure I had it right... until I noticed that "Ophelia" had a pacifier and Elisabeth didn't. I got it wrong. hah!

Nathalie (stevienixed), Wednesday, 29 July 2009 07:36 (seven years ago) Permalink

We're finding it harder to tell them apart vocally - esp when they call downstairs at night. Takes us a second or two to be really sure who is being the nuisance. (Last night it was "Daddy! Daddy! My covers!" Lulu's duvet was bunched up at the foot of her bed and it was obviously too much effort for her to drag it back up over herself. But who doesn't like being tucked in, eh?)

congratulations on the newbie!

Is it wrong that that pic makes me feel broody when I've got a 15-week-old?

makes me a little nostalgic with our youngest already being 16 months. it's such a short time ago that i could literally tuck him into the crook of one arm. he's still a baby, other people still call him a baby when they see him, but he's not a baby baby.

Nate, sooo sooooo cute! Can we borrow your baby for like... a year or so? Miss babies so much.

Tipsy, you have a gorgeous kid. Such beautiful eyes!

Goodness, these kids have done some growin'!

David Moore, sometimes of this parish (if not this, er, neighbourhood - though he's knows more about parenting than most), gave me his old Olympus film SLR last weekend - so I of course took it out the next day with the girls...

Michael Jones, Thursday, 13 August 2009 15:59 (seven years ago) Permalink

I can't use a camera without Howie shouting "Howie do it! Howie DO IT!!!!!" and grabbing it off me. So it's snatched pics with the iPhone for now. Anyway, how quickly they go from newborns to this:

Meg (Meg Busset), Thursday, 13 August 2009 19:58 (seven years ago) Permalink

I want someone to give me an old Olympus SLR.

The (relatively) good weather has meant a lot of goofing about in the street. Which is good when they have 7 weeks summer holiday to fill.

Ned Trifle II, Thursday, 13 August 2009 20:20 (seven years ago) Permalink

Perhaps we should celebrate and capture the extraordinary phenomenon of these kids just getting bigger all the time with some collages. Picasa (which is free) makes this pretty easy. I don't think I could manage it tonight - too much work to do - but it might be fun to see a snap per month (or every other month) for some of the ILP near-toddlers/toddlers/pre-schoolers. For the moody a year?

Michael Jones, Thursday, 13 August 2009 20:37 (seven years ago) Permalink

Sounds good.
Here's another one of the boy in his attic hideout playing my old bass upside down.

This is what happens if you're 2 and you slip off a low stool while brushing your teeth and plunge the width of the bathroom into the corner of the opposite wall:

schwantz, is that ben on the right? is he taller? also, how did the first day go?

Hillary had Everest in his veins (sunny successor), Wednesday, 26 August 2009 02:30 (seven years ago) Permalink

having a kid that eats is a huge relief, considering that his older brother who will be 5 in a week still only eats about 6 things. (we're trying to figure out how he's going to survive at school. for the moment we're planning on packing a thermos of macaroni and cheese for him, since that is what he has for lunch every day.) but rex, the younger one, is much wider ranging. you can put almost anything in front of him and he'll take at least a bite. and a lot of things he'll just chow right through. (especially fresh fruits and veggies. very gratifying.)

Always with the sticks!

Ok, that looks like a good one.

how's life, Monday, 23 May 2016 13:47 (one year ago) Permalink

We used to have basically an entire umbrella stand full of big sticks. My oldest kid would find a special stick every time we went hiking in the state park, and there was no way that I was allowed to chuck them out the back door or use them for kindling or whatever. Eventually he got into whittling though so it all worked itself out.

My little kid brings home smaller treasures, like the one in your saxophone. She doesn't care about them as much as her brother did though, so I usually just end up finding them when I clean under the couch or whatever.

how's life, Monday, 23 May 2016 13:52 (one year ago) Permalink

Stick Man is *amazing, tbh - the animated version is pretty cool too. My daughter treats every stick she finds like a Stick Man action figure, and starts saying stuff like "I'm taking you home to my stick children three..." She found one the other week and I swear she recited almost the entire book on the walk home, she was so excited.

I fired up the bbq this weekend and was v tempted to throw a couple of 'em on to keep it burning, tbh.

kinder, Monday, 6 June 2016 20:22 (one year ago) Permalink

Like so?

Bubbles are the best until you buy a gallon container of them thinking that'll be enough for the summer and then the kids next door come over and splosh them all over the yard.

That's a prime reading spot!

Lulu is obsessed with Pokemon - she sets her schoolmates Pokemon homework, talks of little else, plays Brick Bronze on Roblox, commandeers my phone to play "Go" (it's my fault for getting that app last summer)...

Ava has fallen in with a good bunch of new pals at secondary school - budding musicians, kind of nerd-cool. This is the point at which friends because more the focus, not parents.
