Me and the mister went on a proper record-buying spree for the first time in ages today. The records are essentially shared but I'll split them up into what we each actually took to the counter...

I paid for:
R.D. Laing - Life Before Death
Betty Davis - They Say I'm Different
Dory Previn - Mythical Kings and Iguanas
La Dusseldorf - Individuellos
Magma - Udu Wudu

He paid for:
Kate Bush - The Kick Inside
Dave Burrell - Echo
Two Joni Mitchell albums, not sure which ones.

full listt:

m@tt, there's a RECORD STORE DAY LP reissue of Yellow Princess coming out which should retail around $20... an original shouldn't cost you much more, honestly. under $30 on ebay probably?

ian, Tuesday, 16 March 2010 01:05 (fourteen years ago) link

there's one ending in an hour currently under $10.

15 euro (bout $20?) - guy didn't have anything priced and went running for the book anytime i asked about something, but then priced it at about half. It's pretty damn perfect nick as well.

johnny dyani quartet (cherry/pukwana/ntshoko/dyani) -- song for biko
african head charge -- environmental studies
african head charge -- drastic season
ethnic folkways drums of the yoruba

^ curious about those african head charge records, i'm only familiar w/ 'my life in a hole in the ground' and 'off the beaten track', which i loooove. i love most sherwood i've heard, actually- that creation rebel & new age steppers album is one of my absolute faves

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Wednesday, 17 March 2010 21:09 (fourteen years ago) link

is that song for biko pretty heavy free? i forget if i've heard it. maybe i'm thinking of the peter brotzmann album "Fuck de Boere: Dedicated to Johnny Dyani". i've got the most beautiful modal chanty album w/dyani and abdullah ibrahim.

pete do you have the ibrahim and gato barbieri album? called both "Confluence" and "Hamba Khale". i think you'd dig it.

and speaking of African Head Charge, i have a Noah House of Dread album (by the main dude in AHC) in the sale pile if anyone wants.
