one month passes...

head-scratching lol-worthy reply from a japanese seller (i asked about an lp's condition):

"OK!!Although condition is very good, it does not become precocious. The check of the noise is not carried out, either. However, LP gas in Japan thinks that condition is good comparatively. I am looking forward to being able to deal with you in the future. I would appreciate your favor. Thank you."

i was relieved to hear it doesn't become precocious (as you can imagine), so i placed a low bid, and won.

his end-of auction email:

"Hello,
Thank you for buying it!!
Please select it from a delivery method here.
Please pay by the delivery method of hope."

one month passes...

can't figure out ebay sometimes. recently 3 electrelane records (the power out, axes, no shouts no calls) each sold (from the same seller) for in the $230 range, but those same records since (and before, and around the same time, and always in the same condition) have sold for anywhere between $25 to $80. seems suspicious.

so, i don't sell to brazil. nothing against brazil. but i've sold a handful of records to brazil over the years and in every case i either didn't get paid or the record never got there. so i've got these brazil people CRYING to bid on stuff i have up and NONE of them have ANY feedback! one guy crying was telling me what a great ebayer he was and he started his account two weeks ago!

scott seward, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 00:59 (twelve years ago) link

sorry, brazil. buy some other stuff and we'll talk...

one dis leads to another (ian), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 01:00 (twelve years ago) link

i blocked italy too. just for the hell of it.

scott seward, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 01:01 (twelve years ago) link

and when i sell reggae i block the u.k. and tell real people in the u.k. that they can message me if they are real and i will put them on my fancy I AM A REAL BRITISHER REGGAE FAN list and they can bid.

scott seward, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 01:02 (twelve years ago) link

cuz the fake u.k. reggae bidders are a pox on the universe. BLOODCLOT! I KILL YOUR WHOLE FAMILY YOU SCURVY DOG!

scott seward, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 01:02 (twelve years ago) link

god, fake reggae bidders are the worst!! there is a website dedicated to stopping that guy/those guys.. forget what it's called.

one dis leads to another (ian), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 01:03 (twelve years ago) link

my system works good. i don't sell much reggae to the u.k. anyway. mostly japan/france/california.

scott seward, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 01:05 (twelve years ago) link

i mean nobody is offended or anything. they understand.

has anyone had bad dealings with cdandlp.com? I just bought a record from france that is usually a very pricey one that was marked down. I asked if it was a repress and dealer said no. I also read somewhere online that france sometimes has problems with their postage system?

JacobSanders, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 02:09 (twelve years ago) link

italy has problems with their postage system. french bidders apparently have a bad rep for paypal chargebacks

fitzroy institution (electricsound), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 02:12 (twelve years ago) link

at least according to waxidermy

fitzroy institution (electricsound), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 02:12 (twelve years ago) link

Why do the fake bidders focus on reggae?? Is there some sort of scam going on, or are they just dicks?

Evan, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 05:07 (twelve years ago) link

jah told them to.

scott seward, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 05:20 (twelve years ago) link

I think it's some sort of artificial boost to Reggae prices.

Mark G, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 09:38 (twelve years ago) link

explain the "fake reggae bidders" phenomenon to me. are they an organized group? do they have a political party?

flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 09:47 (twelve years ago) link

They have changed the lyrics of "punky reggae party" for their own use.

Mark G, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 10:00 (twelve years ago) link

yeah i don't think it has anything to do with boosting prices. they just really want to annoy reggae buyers and sellers for some reason. maybe they think the music should be free like the three little birds on their doorstep.

scott seward, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 14:12 (twelve years ago) link

My Andwellas Dream LP is at £400 with 7 hours to go...! That's actually not that high for this record but still what a score - thanks again for the heads up Scott!

The Eyeball Of Hull (Colonel Poo), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 15:27 (twelve years ago) link

you might be surprised by what happens at the end. and no problem. just stop fake bidding on reggae records. i know it's you!

scott seward, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 15:29 (twelve years ago) link

muhahahaha

The Eyeball Of Hull (Colonel Poo), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 15:54 (twelve years ago) link

Talking of which, I tried to look at the FakeBidderList.org.uk and it's locked down with user and password, so you can't even see the list of fake bidders. Which seems a bit counter-productive.

The Eyeball Of Hull (Colonel Poo), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 16:04 (twelve years ago) link

i think they change their accounts all the time anyway. they would have to.

scott seward, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 16:42 (twelve years ago) link
