ha, i don't know if you intentionally started a 45 of pills on 33 so it would segue more neatly out of the metal before it, but a++ transition either way
― mr. vertical (schlump), Thursday, 29 September 2011 21:01 (twelve years ago) link
this is dope btw; loved the number that might've been sampled on Upgrade U that played before the organ-bop you're talking over at this current moment. enjoy snock!!

A jazz show with rotating hosts precedes mine. Sometimes it's hilarious smooth jazz, sometimes it's really great early twentieth century pop stuff. I fucking love the radio so much. I saw this really remarkable Portuguese film this week called Our Beautiful Month of August. It's like half-documentary, half-narrative. There are some great shots in a community radio station in the coastal country town where the film is set during a program called "We the Women." "Every thursday from 15:00 to 17:00" (my old time slot!)(it really reminded me of KOPN's own "Women's Issues, Women's Voices)
― Trip Maker, Friday, 30 September 2011 15:41 (twelve years ago) link
aww (i can't wait to catch that flick btw)i am so bummed out, i really want a show around here & there is an interesting local community station, but it's run really ridiculously; i used to go produce for a pedestrian arts show (that i had to get up on saturday mornings to assist with), & still didn't earn enough kudos to get a spot.
am really into alla-y'alls shows tho

Movie is remarkable, definitely see it. See it in a theater. I loved it.
― Trip Maker, Friday, 30 September 2011 15:55 (twelve years ago) link
33 -> 45 transition should be your trademark segue, ian.& yeah it is one of those 'when that plays here' things but i'll try, i hear it's charming.

This is not up for download yet, only streaming. I'll post it soon. And it's not dance music. Just another somewhat eclectic post-punky type mix that will make it even more unlikely that anyone will ever book me for a night of hi-nrg, despite that being my true dream.

you can't pre-record or?
― Local Christian Blues (schlump), Monday, 31 October 2011 19:50 (twelve years ago) link
think maybe we can pre-record but frankly that makes it even more of a chore imo. maybe i am being a baby. but i do feel that after like 3 yrs or whatever it's become more of a burden than something that excites me. otoh, sometimes i have a blast. idk.

― one dis leads to another (ian), Monday, 31 October 2011 21:47 (twelve years ago) link
yeah i can imagine that. maybe if you think of it as taking a break it'll be better, then you can be thinking of slinking into another spot when you get the urge to inflict songs on people again.
i'd be kinda into pre-recording i think, & also could then luxuriate in listening to myself on the radio, but that might just be me
― Local Christian Blues (schlump), Monday, 31 October 2011 22:48 (twelve years ago) link
haha i never listen to my shows; i'm too self-conscious, i get embarrassed. i emailed them proposing i pre-tape the shows, preferably on friday nights, cuz that's the night my wife works late and our scheduled would sync up better and make me not feel so much like i was missing out on chillaxin time.
― one dis leads to another (ian), Monday, 31 October 2011 23:20 (twelve years ago) link
this might be a dumb q, but do you do this in the window, ian? idk anything about evr so don't know if there's another studio for pre-records/non-extroverted taping &c, but i always thought that was a pretty insane setup (maybe not nec in a bad way. i guess it's kinda like the one in northern exposure)

ha. yeah, i do it in the window. it's got it's pros & cons. the show is in a late spot in an area with a lot of bars so drunk ppl bothering you is a problem. Can imagine it would be even worse on a Saturday.OTOH, I am featured in the vacation photos of many european tourists.
