WOW these Can Tapes

Played them non-stop in the car since I got them. Live "Spoon" - raaaaaaaaah.
Yesterday my car broke down though, the loan car has a cassette player! Maybe I have some Can in my old tape box..

willem, Sunday, 24 June 2012 09:04 (twelve years ago) link

i really appreciate hearing the early 'process' recordings; fascinating. and you know, Jaki is jaw-dropping throughout. i like the box/packaging too. going to create some storage conundrums though.

No Can tapes in the attic. Dug out and played a copied Lonesome Crowded West tape this morning. Nice.

i reserve the right to talk relentless shit about elvis c til the day i die, and still occasionally to sneak a listen to TYM and "welcome to the working week" every couple years. on an official tip, though, that dude is the goddamn worst.

I haven't touched a drink in weeks and haven't been drunk in a quite a while but I feel hungover listening to TJSA this morning and I don't think I want it any other way.

Trip Maker, Thursday, 2 August 2012 14:32 (eleven years ago) link

Listening to Bill Fox on Spotify. Sorta surprised I've never heard this before.

Trip Maker, Monday, 20 August 2012 16:05 (eleven years ago) link

Now I'm listening to this Keiji Haino/Loren Connors collab called Vol. 2. Nice and mellow.

bill fox is nice, imo. so is connors/haino. weird how haino feels a bit subservient to connors' style but so nice to jam.

gettin my Four Tet on

nerve_pylon, Friday, 24 August 2012 21:07 (eleven years ago) link

^The comp (Pink)? Downloaded it yesterday. It's great. "Pyramid" and "Locked" also featured on his Fabric mix - worth checking out if you haven't already imo.

This morning in the car, sun trying to come through the fog, occasionally succeeding (syncing with Carsten Jost's "You don't need a weatherman" (Superpitcher remix), of course)

So I've just discovered that there are tons of Ian Matthews records filed under IAIN Matthews on Spotify and I'm having a field day.
This guy has become my favorite singer, I think. Just a joy and a comfort to listen to.

Trip Maker, Thursday, 13 September 2012 18:26 (eleven years ago) link

And I know he changed the spelling of his name and he is now known as IAIN but a lot of the stuff listed under that artist is from the IAN period.
