Recommend a good cartridge for about US$120

I've read favorable reviews of the Audio-Technica AT120E/T, but am soliciting any recommendations....

Also considering Shure M97XE. Like the brush/damper thingie.

I had an awesome V15 5 cart but the stylus broke off and new ones aren't available, except at ridiculous prices.

TIA

Well I see this isn't going anywhere.....

So what do you have on the end of your tonearm? I would have thought at the very least that vinyl fanatics look for low tracking weight, as not to wear out their records quickly. Between the tiny needle, the low tracking weight, and the brush, my old Shure V15 seemed barely to wear out records at all, even ones I listened to frequently. And it sounded great. Or is record longevity & sound quality not really all that important?

I just use whatever's on my shitty old Akai at the moment. Probably gonna switch to a Shure or Ortofon low-end cartridge soon (I'm poor, but these are only a little more than the replacement styles for my current cartridge). I keep my weight at 1.5 grams and it doesn't seem to wear things noticeably.

You can get a replacement stylus for the V-15 for like $15 btw.

Oh wait, the little brush thingie. Forgot about that, that definitely runs pricier.

There are third-party replacement styluses for the V15 that don't seem to be well reputed (although the audiophiles doing these ratings can be a flaky bunch). This is the last-generation V15 type 5x, styluses for the type 3 and earlier ones seem easier to find and cheaper, but these aren't nearly as good as the 5 or 5x. The 5 and 5x were as good as $500 audiophile-grade cartridges but sold for only $180 in their day (I bought one in the late '90s). It was the bargain high-end cartridge, coaxing great sound out of ordinary turntables (which in my case, cost less than the cartridge).

I have a kinda standard DJ type setup. Technics tables and headshell, Shure M44G cartridge. Not as nice as the Ortofon I used to have but when I went to two turntables vs. one and had to replace stuff I didn't want to spring for two of em.
