Surely that can't be under copyright

Today is payday, and I have just received my payslip. At the bottom of said slip it says:

PLEASE KEEP THIS PAY ADVICE IN A SAFE PLACE. IT MAY BE REQUIRED FOR THE PURPOSE OF SELF-ASSESSMENT. ©

How can that sentence be copyright? Or is it merely the the idea of self assessment which is subject to the © ? Someone explain this baizarreness to me, and show me more strange copyrights.

Um, yes but unfortunately due to a massive admin cock-up I haven't actually been paid today. Ahem.

(Does a Roger The Dodger style wink whilst say out of the box "Do you think he'll fall for that readers?")

"Ha ha readers with the money I've saved on not buying rounds I've made TEN POUNDS!"

"Oh, it's Pete The Dodger! Pete with your so-called pub quiz you persuaded Alan to take a night bus through the heart of the sun. It's damaged beyond repair! You'll have to pay ten pounds!"

"Bah!"
