all of them do, he's just the only Monkee to deploy them
(actually it's a pic from an ep of the show where he falls in love with the girl whose birthday party they're playing and it pains me greatly that I know this just by looking at the pic)

David Yow told me on the phone last week that he hates the sound of Down and that it was the muddy production that made them go to another producer.

but then they come back to albini for the remasters?
― let the glory boy mr. henry have it on rye (jdchurchill), Friday, 9 October 2009 21:18 (fourteen years ago) link
I thought Albini just provided the notes. Didn't Weston do the remasters?
― Alex in SF, Friday, 9 October 2009 21:21 (fourteen years ago) link
"The remastering—led by Bob Weston and aided by Albini" it sayeth

this means albini just handed the tapes to weston?

Does Albini actually own the master tapes? It sounds like he just provided notes.

Haha, OK, my wife is a major Monkees stan, having more than once taken long trips to see their reunion shows, and having met all sans Mike in person on several occasions, and I think she will back me up on the fact that Davy Jones is a paranoid, insecure jerkass. I've met Tork in her company, and he struck me as a super nice guy and talented beyond what the average person who turns up "Daydream Believer" on the radio can imagine.
(Just recently, during his bout with cancer, Tork emailed my wife out of the blue because he discovered she had a cassette tape of a small show he and his brother did about a decade ago, and asked if she would make a copy of it for him.)

I expected all kinds of handbags at dawn type histrionics from Lizard Vs. Albini but it was slightly disappointing :-(

lol @ this thread turning into a thread about the monkees

second that - laser eyes picture has made my day though. Will have to dig out the ol' VHS of Head at this rate.

Hey, "Head" woulda made a decent Jesus Lizard album title! One word, four letters, no more/less.

That's why it was the title of their first album

Touch & Go had these albums remastered. The band just approved them.

'upper right pic - "leave me alone u psycho!"'
Davey Jones looks like he could be John Oliver's dad in that picture.
I've got to side with Mr. Sims in that Down isn't as big sounding as the previous two Jesus Lizard albums.
― earlnash, Friday, 16 October 2009 02:44 (fourteen years ago) link
Lol at this thread. My favorite amusing irrelevant detail is that Davy Jones's young bride was on a Telemundo show with the is-it-English-or-Spanish title of Dame Chocolate.
