Strange Days wasn't bad.

i think i remember strange days but i think i am conflating it with the television miniseries "wild palms" for some reason

i actually just have a vague blur memory of liam neeson and halle berry running around in times square and some kind of video helmet

Man, looking back at it The Matrix really seems like the culmination of a decade's worth of failed attempts by Hollywood to profitably exploit the 90's internet/virtual reality/video game/Silicon Valley/Doom/cyberpunk/hacker zeitgeist.

I appreciated what it was trying to do, but after the first hour seeing bad actor-models torn apart by insects just loses its novelty. But I did like the scene where Casper von Dien gets whipped.

I saw Strange Days for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It is too long. Fiennes is pretty great in it though.

honestly i haven't re-watched either dark city OR the 13th floor, and i bet they would both suck. dark city was "atmospheric."

i watched it on dvd and i was into it. although some parts crossover from noir into goth, i think.

isn't johnny mnemonic mostly set in NEWARK? I'm from Newark. Don't make any ponderous, horribly written dystopic movies about Newark.

Dark City: great set-up, shite final act. Gets points for trying though. It tosses very similar ideas about that the Matrix would a few years later.
