Lindsay Lohan is back on a magazine cover!

The starlet appears on the cover of the January issue of Muse magazine in a racy Kate Moss/Johnny Depp inspired photo shoot, and Fox 411 has exclusive photos.

The photo feature, titled "Lindsay Lohan Exposed" was shot by photographer Yu Tsai.

“She was playing the role of Kate Moss -- you're at a party and you are with a guy you really love and another girl," Tsai told Fox411.com. But he said the risque "plot" had nothing to do with titillation. "There was never a discussion about pushing the boundaries. She was totally comfortable with the nudity as long as it had artistic integrity. When you see her nipple, it just happened in the moment."

Lohan, 23, did the shoot in one day in mid-November with a male model and one of Madonna’s backup dancers. The trio posed at Lindsay’s favorite hotel, the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

“The three of them were very sensual and provocative, but Lindsay understands this piece was created not for any sensational value other than art," said Tsai. "She is stunning and radiates in the pictures. Lindsay is incredibly focused. It's raw, it's exposed, this is her at her best. She told me: 'I want to make this iconic.'”

One Lindsay pal tells Fox411 that the shoot is part of her long-range plan to earn back her credibility.

“Lindsay loves the artistic, Hollywood stylized shots. She is willing to work hard to earn respect again so that she can go back to doing music and movies," says the source. "She hopes that this shoot and her role in [the upcoming film] 'Machete' can be the rebuilding blocks of her career.”
