Wait a minute - Arthur - are you talking about Pavement's first bass player or 2nd? Cause in the Famous People thread I just mentioned that their 2nd one works at Jones Diner. He has a mean jukebox technique.

Hmmm, I don't know Tracer. Mark Ibold, was he the first one or the second one? I was wondering what he'd been up to since Pavement split. Actually, last time I saw him was about 8 years ago. I was DJing and he came up to me and gushed about some semi-obscure Pat Smear song I played, sweet as ever. I guess being an indie kingpin and hanging out those lovely, lovely gals in Free Kitten hadn't gone to his head.

When I worked at a record store I had a little goth girl who had a crush on me. She was very sweet: she used to come into the store and bring me drawings of myself and stuff, and she always wanted my opinion on Joy Division, Marilyn Manson and the like. I even persuaded her to buy a Belle and Sebastian CD once. Anyway, when I left the store, on my last day she brought me a little silver ankh symbol, like the one Death wears in those Neil Gaiman comics, to remind me of her.

I thought she was very sweet, but it did get a bit out of hand eventually and I had to stop her. Ah well.

Used to get weird DJ groupies when I was DJing too. But I've never personally had a crush on a record store employee. Maybe because I've been one...

You never have time for DJ groupies, cause you're always too busy trying to pull the *bands*! mwah hah hah!

I don't know... I always find the bands are trying to pull the promoter... ;)

There's this gal I've fancied for quite some time and when I found out she used to work in a record store I nearly creamed my jeans...

one month passes...
His name was Robert. He was short and sweet and had good taste. He worked at a bookstore in the mornings and a record store in the evenings. He was my sainted knigt at 17.

I used to have a BIG crush on a girl who worked in my local record store. But since I knew her before she worked there, and had a big crush on her from the minute I first met her, this may not count.

God, I only DJ'd ONCE, and I had DJ groupies. Hooray! What a racket this is, why did I ever bother to learn how to play guitar? Playing guitar is difficult, ANYONE can be a DJ.

Answer is YES!!!! But NOT because she worked at a record store - not at all. Because of Other Things.

Because she had eyes that could drown a man's soul, yes?

hello, i think this is my turf, for once. to answer the question: yes yes yes. but strangely, not in the locale of the article. although everyone around here knows that thing. the guy who owns low yo-yo (record store, duh) said when that onion came out he got more emails in one hour than he ever had in a week, and that some other guy who worked at another record store was trying to find out if the store in the article existed. question: why is the girl in the picture, um, not cute? the girl i had a crush on was way prettier.

Okay, when I click on the link to check (cos I forget what she looked like but I do remember her being distinctly not nearly as cute as anyone I know), it just brought me to the Onion main page. So apropos of nothing I'd like to point out that the Hitler Anne Geddes in the sidebar is the funniest thing I've seen in ages.

A friend of mine had such a crush. He introduced me to her, and praised my taste. I proceeded to expound on the virtures of the Mel. C solo album. Poor guy.
