maybe "generally favor" is too far, but really lots of dudes just prefer brunettes or blondes or w/e across the board, and if it's the latter it doesn't occur to me that it has anything to do with "revenge for high school" or something

I've gotta wonder about skanky women who a) get involved with a married man and b) expect him to 'take care of them' when by being with them he's already proved he's not worth trusting to take care of a damned thing.

I just find it weird that they all seemed shocked to find out that Tiger other mistresses.

this story has me thinking once again that the prizes women win for being beautiful and/or hot range from being not that great to downright dismal.

estela, Tuesday, 15 December 2009 01:02 (fourteen years ago) link

to be fair, i imagine for many / any with sense / careers to watch out for are probably keeping quiet about it -- the ones who have been revealed thus far might not exactly be a perfect sampling

i don't really wonder about them. if they had enough self-worth and good sense to avoid these situations they wouldn't be very good skanks.

xpost LOL Nicole, I especially liked how the shock was served with a steaming side-order of 'righteous indignation' also who was it (a woman) that said 'when a mistress marries her man she creates an opening'.

i was just thinking about how much work it must have taken to not only be sleeping with all of these women (and how many more?), but also to have made many of them feel like they were "the (other) one". anyway:

and ok, there's nothing new or shocking about rich people being pigs. but we don't really hear enough about it, i don't think. every individual case of excess is treated as an individual case of excess, not as a symptom of some fundamental rot in a society that has spent the last several decades transferring more and more of our wealth to a small number of people at the top.

um yes, it's only in the last several decades where wealth is distributed to a small number of people at the top.

get a fucking grip?

yeah that to me is kinda crazy -- on some level i can at least understand a guy having a lot of one night stands, or one or two girls on the side, but the sheer impracticality of having a bunch of girlfriends, even casual ones, in addition to a wife is insane.

some dude, Tuesday, 15 December 2009 01:53 (fourteen years ago) link

honestly in order to pull that off he'd have to spend every waking minute in which he wasn't playing golf on juggling all of them, and this is only accounting for the ones we know about.

First of, these women are not ugly. I mean, wtf, what are your standards? A bit too high maybe. They are also girls he picked up at bars (and the media is going to only portray them as party girls of course). On top of that I find it wrong to connect this philandering with his money. Fuck, I know plenty of "poor" guys who fuck around like him.

I think his people should have gone with the (semi) reality. Instead of going for a cleancut image, they should have made him like this sex god. semi-lol

As bad as he is for playing out, I've gotta wonder about skanky women who a) get involved with a married man and b) expect him to 'take care of them' when by being with them he's already proved he's not worth trusting to take care of a damned thing.

Skanky? How do you come to that conclusion? They were wrong to jump in bed with him. But maybe some of them were just plain naive. On top of that, maybe they didn't know he was married. I was only vaguely aware of his wife.

I think it's wrong to assume that if you fuck outside of your marriage, this implies you are a cheat all the way. Friend of course cheated on his wife. He ultimately divorced his wife and married the other. THey are still married after all these years (plus two decades btw). Another friend of ours same thing.

Balding golf geeks are renowned for their success with women

Sonny Uplands (Tom D.), Tuesday, 15 December 2009 12:42 (fourteen years ago) link

Nath, Tiger Woods' marriage and family life has been relentlessly placed in our media. I don't know how anyone interested enough to meet him could fail to note he was married, with kids - you'd have to be the kind of person who didn't give a shit about another woman to proceed in any case, and I just have a problem with women like that (and no problem laughing at them when they get hypocritically upset about their arrangement not being exclusive).

BTW I know of quite a few celebrities who seem to have open relationships their wives don't know about, and the lack of self-respect in the women involved is staggering - quite happy to sneak around, quite happy to be blanked in public, quite happy to use the servant's/tradesman's entrance (NO KEN) and generally quite happy to accept third-class treatment for what probably isn't even first-class sex. Oh, to be a Happy Hookup.

special vixens unit (suzy), Tuesday, 15 December 2009 12:57 (fourteen years ago) link

On top of that I find it wrong to connect this philandering with his money.

You're not serious?

I am. Some are connecting the fact he has money to his addiction to sex. I am convinced that without the money, he probably would have fucked around just as much. It is a factor of course, no question about it, but I am sure it isn't as important as people like to think it is.

Nath, Tiger Woods' marriage and family life has been relentlessly placed in our media.

Suzy, you are in and interested in the media, you are wrong to assume that all people are aware o f his marriage. He picked up these women in bars, restaurants,... They didn't really seek him out, it's more the other way around, he approached them. That's the impression I have anyway.

I agree with you about women who are aware. It's just wrong. But I do not want to see all of his conquests like that.

Nathalie (stevienixed), Tuesday, 15 December 2009 15:54 (fourteen years ago) link

Uh nathalie, his wedding was like national news, and I don't even WATCH the news. They knew. For sure.

WHY DON'T YOU JUST LICK THE BUS DIRECTLY (Laurel), Tuesday, 15 December 2009 15:55 (fourteen years ago) link

Also I think you're ignoring the fact that these women were probably handpicked to be sexually available -- or, equally, they self-selected by placing themselves among a group of women who made themselves available to men with enough money/power. These were not chance encounters where someone might not be up-to-date with a strangers personal life, their meetings were manufactured for the express purpose of meeting every desire of a rich celebrity.

WHY DON'T YOU JUST LICK THE BUS DIRECTLY (Laurel), Tuesday, 15 December 2009 15:59 (fourteen years ago) link

Some are connecting the fact he has money to his addiction to sex.

Funny how it's invariably rich people who are described as "addicted to sex". I'm connecting the fact that he has money to the fact that he persuaded so many blonde airheads to sleep with him, I really don't see him having similar success if he was a penniless balding golf geek

Sonny Uplands (Tom D.), Tuesday, 15 December 2009 16:08 (fourteen years ago) link

... a penniless balding golf geek with neither charisma or charm, to boot

Sonny Uplands (Tom D.), Tuesday, 15 December 2009 16:10 (fourteen years ago) link

Let's not forget that he's rich because he is very talented and hence (was) hugely celebrated for that. I'm sure his fame is as attractive to these women as is his money.

l'homme moderne: il forniquait et lisait des journaux (Michael White), Tuesday, 15 December 2009 16:10 (fourteen years ago) link

I'll return the question: are you serious? You seriously think only rich people get plenty of sex?
I'm not saying money didn't play a factor, I'm saying it is not as big as people like to think it is. It's not the factor. I mean, now they gain something but were they financially rewarded fucking him? (I think money is a bigger factor for, say, the wife.) Fame however was probably a bigger factor.

Laurel, I agree, you're right about them being sexually available. Reluctantly. I say reluctantly for various reasons. (One of which is: reading guys commenting it's their fault. Shoving the blame on the woman yet again.)
