Hmmm, coffee. Associate it with habit, could be a placebo effect going on but the reason I believe it works is that sometimes it produces the exact opposite effect by which I mean if I have 10 cups in a row I immediately fall asleep. But then sometimes afterward I wake up and I feel wired out beyond belief. Actually that latter bit totally fucks up my theory though, well not really a theory more like proving an axiom in the general philosophical outline of what I was getting at, relies on a dialectic. As above so below rite? Alpha/Omega, Wilson/Dylan, Berry/Lewis type polarity. How that ties in with the coffee is that if sometimes it has a quantifiable effect on metabolism that's binary/essentialist (OK now we're getting toward Confucianism here) switching consciousness/unconsciousness (literalising it as well merging con. sig (ie 'actually being awake' [factoring in external con. complexifiers ie SuperCaffeinatedCon = 'Sleep'[dis. imp. validity of perceptions[+ extrapolations from same]('sleep'=morpheus[AmazingSpiderMan#101])('eff. stim. SITUATIONAL?')'rough equiv. altering situational aspects broadcaster via affecting parameters receiver' etc etc

Of course the movie was marketed toward women. My half-assed joke theory =

- Straight men like watching femme fake-lesbians get it on, because it involves women exhibiting what's perceived as the same lust for the female body straight men experience. This depends on pretending the lesbian desire is strictly sexual and supercedes emotional connection and vulnerability and such.

- Straight women like watching butch fake-gay men fall in love because it involves men exhibiting the kinds of emotional connections and vulnerabilities straight women crave from them. This depends on pretending the gay desire is curiously non-sexual and transcends the everday body-lust that straight women are the objects of.

-- nabisco (--...), January 23rd, 2006. (nabisco) (later)

Er, what's the punchline?

-- Dan ("It's Drivin' Me Nuts!") Perry (djpe...il.com),">rry@gmail.com), January 23rd, 2006. (Dan Perry) (later)

The joke part is just in the vast inaccurate generalizations there! But insofar as it's sometimes true, it amuses me just on the face of it. Because it's kinda based on pretending gay people are straight. Like straight guys want to imagine hot girls making out with each other because they're kinky (because girls fall in love with guys, see, so if they're making out it's just cause they nasty). And then straight guys want to imagine hot guys having relationships with each other because they're noble and loving (because guys want to fuck chicks, see, so if they love each other it's pure and beautiful). But then of course oops, wait: they're gay!

-- nabisco (--...), January 23rd, 2006. (nabisco) (later)

Sorry, that latter part should obviously be that straight girls want to imagine hot-guy relationships like that.

Eventually, the Blackass Soul Dude and the Whiteass Diva Bitch learn a little something about each another, and a shy, grudging respect is born.

And as they walk out of the studio on the final day of the recording sessions, Blackass Soul Dude calls out to her, "Next time you're in Memphis, gimme a ring. You've gotta eat my old lady's soul food!"

Smiling, Whiteass Bitch replies, "NOW who's being demanding?"

"You know," says Soul Dude, looking deeply into Whiteass Bitch's eyes and laughing, "you really are crazy."

Fade to black and we're out.
