I just want her to keep grinning that lopsided grin at me forever. In fact, I would probably start juggling things and turning somersaults if that would keep her attention.

I just discovered that you can get her complete show EVERY DAY as a podcast -- it means I'm always one day behind but I don't care, The Rachel Maddow show is changing my life.

She was rocking Adidas Sambas on the Colbert Report!

She is so freaking cuets. John and I would both marry her. You know, another wedding reception wherein Rachel marries both of us with the power of our Subgenius reverend best buddy who married both of us.

She's been sounding sick since her Monday broadcast! Even huskier than usual. I haven't seen the show in a couple of days, I was wondering just HOW sick you have to be to let someone else anchor your show.

It's not hard to pretend Rachel has nothing on under that suit jacket.

I prefer her bemusement to everyone else's explosive rooster-chested name-calling gambits. She's a smart, polite lady and I just think she's great.

Matt P, Wednesday, 8 July 2009 00:13 (fourteen years ago) link

She's not back yet. The substitute lady isn't too bad, tho.

kind-hearted, sensitive keytar player (Abbott), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 00:18 (fourteen years ago) link

i didn't watch last week, but i think the sub was alison stewart (who used to be on mtv news).

Visually-striking Cerebral Movies from the 1960s (get bent), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 00:20 (fourteen years ago) link

Alison Stewart's been kicking around MSNBC for years, and is married to Bill Wolff (the veep of news programming)...not saying that's the reason they keep her around, because she's awesome in her own right.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 8 July 2009 00:23 (fourteen years ago) link

oh i know, i just always think of her mtv days when i see her.

Visually-striking Cerebral Movies from the 1960s (get bent), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 00:24 (fourteen years ago) link

I think Maddow could cut out the mugging a little. (We already have a Daily Show.) And she could break from the blogpack a little more than she does.

I mean, she is great, obviously, but her show doesn't quite feel indispensable yet.

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 8 July 2009 01:09 (fourteen years ago) link

Visually-striking Cerebral Movies from the 1960s (get bent), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 01:17 (fourteen years ago) link

I like what a hard-ass she is about her mixing rules!

I don't know why I'm surprised that she dresses that way, but I am.

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 8 July 2009 01:31 (fourteen years ago) link

i like how insistent she is on wearing her glasses everywhere but in her msnbc gig. like, she's willing to cute it up for the day job, but that's it. she dresses way more butch in all other settings than on her show, which i'm guessing is just how she likes to dress.

Chris Hayes >>> Maddow. Maddow is still so damn awkward: those pauses and nervous chuckles, like she's looking for cue cards or punch lines.

I liked Up with Chris. He didn't seem a good fit for a nighttime show. I'd rather hear him do a podcast again.
