I see what this is (Local Garda), Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:06 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah wasn't it some kind of mix of cash register/typewriter noise or something?

Nhex, Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:15 (fourteen years ago) link

lol even Smokey found them irritating and useless

there's some rumor going around where all the characters are animorphs in season 6 or something

-what happened to annie (ben's ladyfriend)

I guess Annie was evacuated from the Island when all the other Dharma women and children were. It'd make sense.

-who was eko's wife (remember he said he had been married, but that she wasn't on the plane)

Yeah alright they probably won't bother with this.

-how/why widmore was banished from the island

They are totally going to address this, surely?

-where the fuck are the children that the others took

Richard or Ben said there was another group of Others hanging out at the Temple, I suspect they'll get to this as well.

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:21 (fourteen years ago) link

I'd like to see how the Temple cured Ben...

Ooh, here's a theory (from http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/discussion/2010/01/13/DI2010011304368.html) - Lost Hour Q&A with fans & Lostpedia admins.

Regina, SK: Where do you think the character of Aaron will lead to in Season 6? Will he still be important, perhaps as much as he was thought to be in seasons 1 and 2? -Alex, Regina Saskatchewan

Jen Chaney: I think Aaron will be significant, for sure. Actually, I thought he was fairly significant in season five. Kate's decision to leave him with his grandmother was one of the more emotionally wrenching (and memorable) moments of S5, I thought.

Kevin Croy: I think he will be significant too. I suspect that we'll find out we've known Aaron the whole time as someone else.

Sam McPherson: That would be interesting. Could he be Jacob? Both are blondies.

Liz Kelly: Okay, now my head hurts.

Not the real Village People, Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:32 (fourteen years ago) link

OK I don't actually believe that.

Not the real Village People, Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:33 (fourteen years ago) link

he could be jacob. but why, if his name is aaron.

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:34 (fourteen years ago) link

wasn't Widmore sug-banned from the island just because Ben found out he'd fathered Penny off it?

mdskltr (blueski), Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:34 (fourteen years ago) link

I think Claire and Christian are significant but somehow i just don't feel like there's anything really important going on w/ Aaron. was there any indication that he was important early on beyond just that the others wanted him, which it turned out was because they couldn't have babies?

some dude, Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:35 (fourteen years ago) link

-how/why widmore was banished from the island

They are totally going to address this, surely?

They already did!

Some time after the Purge, Ben had Widmore exiled from the Island and supplanted him as leader of the Others. As Widmore was led to the submarine by armed guards, Ben came to say farewell. Widmore, however, felt Ben had come to "gloat" about his victory in having him exiled. Widmore had been exiled for "breaking the rules": namely, for regularly leaving the Island, and for having a family off the Island (specifically, a "daughter with an outsider"). Widmore scornfully told Ben that one day he would have to choose between Alex and the Island. He was then led to the submarine and exiled. ("Dead Is Dead")

I think we'll find out aaron has been a dumb stupid part of the show all along.

would love to see walt's weird bird flinging powers get explained...but don't expect to.

hey if nothing else it led to the secret Hurt Locker crossover

Paolo?

I regret choosing this bland user name (peter in montreal), Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:40 (fourteen years ago) link

i feel like now that they've established a reality where lots of people are apparently born w/ different supernatural powers (Miles, Desmond, etc.) it doesn't seem nearly as likely that Walt is as central as he once seemed. which maybe they're doing on purpose.

some dude, Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:41 (fourteen years ago) link

Breathlessly awaiting the "Aaron = Charlie" reveal

Vajazzle My Nazzle (HI DERE), Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:42 (fourteen years ago) link

really thought Jack would've come face to face with Christian on the island by now, no longer giving a shit about this (or anything about Jack tbh...altho it will be nice when he is re-united with Claire i guess)

mdskltr (blueski), Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:43 (fourteen years ago) link

that would be especially lame considering that another character now has a baby NAMED CHARLIE

some dude, Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:46 (fourteen years ago) link

Don't forget that the Others rejected Walt for whatever purpose they wanted him for (though tbh this development could've just been written into the show due to the actor's growth spurt), and that was as far back as season 2. They can easily write this off - Walt was just another kid of many that they did kidnap in the aftermath of the crash. Odd that pretty much all the kids were in the tail section, though. I'm sure there will be some kind of explanation - maybe unsatisfying - for why all the kids in 2004 were important.

Also, Claire is probably dead, right? Well... OK I'd say that if I didn't think she was coming back as a regular.

(and please no that baby is his own grandpa shenanigans, i beg)

Nhex, Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:47 (fourteen years ago) link

Of the chopper people who were selected and sent to the Island by Widmore/Abbadon we know that both Miles and Charlotte were born on the Island, Daniel was at least conceived on the Island and possibly born there as well, so I'd assume that means Lapidus was also an island baby? Actually I really want to know what Frank's deal is all round seeing as the Island clearly wants him for something.

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Thursday, 21 January 2010 21:49 (fourteen years ago) link

reckon claire might come back as possessed by smokey...

xpost frank is just a drifter...ain't no island wants him

Still watching season 5, and Jack still keeps on saying "that doesn't matter" to every question. And isn't even remotely curious about how or why he's landed in 1977. He really is the worst TV character ever written.

I want to know Cindy the Flight Attendant's story. How did she end up an Other? What happened to her between her going missing and turning up as nanny to (presumably) the taken children?

ma-cheese-mo (onimo), Friday, 22 January 2010 16:36 (fourteen years ago) link

would guess that they brainwashed her in the DnB room and it worked (unlike with Carl or indeed Waaaaaalt). that's very silly tho.

mdskltr (blueski), Friday, 22 January 2010 16:38 (fourteen years ago) link

Her hotness might be a factor in my curiosity. They could surely devote 20 minutes to wrapping that story up just for the hotness.

ma-cheese-mo (onimo), Friday, 22 January 2010 16:41 (fourteen years ago) link

Um have you seen the women on the show? There is plenty of hotness to go around, they don't need that much more otherwise we'll all "explode".

Vajazzle My Nazzle (HI DERE), Friday, 22 January 2010 16:44 (fourteen years ago) link

We need to explode to fix the timelines.

That "new footage" is like a single frame of Claire holding a gun.

President Keyes, Monday, 25 January 2010 14:47 (fourteen years ago) link

woah good spot. can't remember that happening before but seems stupid to include only one new shot if any.

mdskltr (blueski), Monday, 25 January 2010 14:49 (fourteen years ago) link

Actually I really want to know what Frank's deal is all round seeing as the Island clearly wants him for something.

Maybe Jacob will be reborn into his body.

President Keyes, Monday, 25 January 2010 14:54 (fourteen years ago) link

i think it's pretty fuckin' clever personally to include one new shot and make fans figure out what it is. also they've made noises about the promos including more and more new footage in the week or two leading up to the episode, so i assume that's just a first tentative step.

some dude, Monday, 25 January 2010 15:09 (fourteen years ago) link

if you pause that youtube clip on 17 seconds...omg kate's mouth is enormous

mdskltr (blueski), Monday, 25 January 2010 15:15 (fourteen years ago) link

With all the bomb resetting things and the premier happening on Feb 2nd, I'm hoping the new season will be a big homage to Bill Murray's "Groundhog Day".

Jack
1. Gather ingredients
2. Point gun at ingredients and shout “HOW DO I MAKE A SANDWICH OUT OF YOU?!?!?”
3. Breathe heavily through your nose as though you were about to hit ingredients
4. Give up and make the sandwich yourself, and eat it bitterly

ahhh ha ha hah, so true, they're leaving out

5. Writhe despondently and cry that the sandwich is gone
