nearly tweeted back requesting a Lost/Olympics tie-in
― mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 27 January 2010 13:18 (fourteen years ago) link
First scene is going to involve all of them on flight 815, including people like Charlie, shannon and boone. Then they hit some turbulence. But then everything straightens out and they land safely at LA X.
I think this will be a swerve though, like someone's dream or something, and they ultimately won't go with the reset. I think they will tease it though.
― Mister Jim, Wednesday, 27 January 2010 18:59 (fourteen years ago) link
I dunno, the fact that the episode is titled "LA X" (and the airport is usually abbreviated as "LAX," no space) makes me think it's a red herring and there'll be no airport at all in it.
― some dude, Wednesday, 27 January 2010 19:03 (fourteen years ago) link
i'm thinking first scene jacob or jacob's enemy

holy shit how is it not lunch yet
― super sexy psycho fantasy world (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Wednesday, 27 January 2010 19:12 (fourteen years ago) link
first scene:
we open in the flight crew annex of the 747. the stewardess from the back of the plane and another flight attendant are talking about something while preparing lunch. the stewardess brings the cart up the aisle, and we pass by and linger on BOONE, CHARLIE, SHANNON, etc. stewardess gives food to various passengers, ends up at front of plane. knocks on door:
STEWARDESS: Captain, do you want some food?
CAPTAIN (through door): Yes, I'll have the carrots.
STEWARDESS OPENS DOOR
CAMERA PANS PAST STEWARDESS, UP THROUGH COCKPIT, TURNS AROUND TO FACE CAPTAIN.
CAPTAIN is HORSE.
CAPTAIN: Neiiigh.
― max, Wednesday, 27 January 2010 19:21 (fourteen years ago) link
Not just any horse. Kate's horse.
― Mister Jim, Wednesday, 27 January 2010 19:22 (fourteen years ago) link
and they're actually in kate's toy plane
― Freddy 'The Wonder Chicken' (Gukbe), Wednesday, 27 January 2010 19:23 (fourteen years ago) link
which is in aaron's room. and they're all tiny.
Seriously, if I were writing the show, I would tease like the whole first episode as a reset. Then have the final scene be something that would show them all back on the island as if a reset didn't happen at all, for the wtf cliffhanger.
We'll see what they actually do though.
x-post: LOL
― Mister Jim, Wednesday, 27 January 2010 19:25 (fourteen years ago) link
I can see how someone might see that as a stupid waste of time as well. But I kinda see it as a Last Temptation of Christ sort of thing. Like a vision that shows Jack why things would have been even worse if the plane didn't crash. That the world needs them to crash on that island.

It's like the opposite of "It's A Wonderful Life."
― what of the fuck you talkie bout (Pancakes Hackman), Wednesday, 27 January 2010 19:40 (fourteen years ago) link
Cuse/Lindelof have made comments to the effect that they're not going to just hit the reset button, that they don't want to make it so all the dramatic moments you already saw didn't happen or don't matter anymore, but I could definitely see them teasing it in a way that it seems that's what they're doing.
― some dude, Wednesday, 27 January 2010 19:45 (fourteen years ago) link
what about having the returned characters actually acting like they're back from the dead, or aware of the moment they faced death and unable to recall anything since leaving to much freaking out/confusion...leading Jack and co to think 'oh shiiiii, Jacob if you fix this we promise to never leave"
― mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 27 January 2010 20:16 (fourteen years ago) link
If they made the dead characters into stealth zombies and the entire season was an extended chase/siege story I would lol heartily
― struck through in my prime (HI DERE), Wednesday, 27 January 2010 20:18 (fourteen years ago) link
just like the star trek movie didn't technically hit the reset button amirite

OK I know someone who's started watching ALL OF IT for the first time... this week. With the aim of going straight into s6 on Tues. I think they're halfway thru season 1 already. And they are blogging it!

my brother gave me seasons 1-4 on DVD two Xmases ago and I binged on those in the space of the month or two before season 5 started. it's a good way to consume the show, the episodes where nothing 'happens' go down a lot easier when you don't have to wait a week in between.

So Tuesday night is three hours? I've looked and looked but haven't found confirmation that hour 1 will be a re-cap. Please tell me that's the case. I can't get to TV until like 8:45. Thxbye.
― tobo73, Friday, 29 January 2010 00:20 (fourteen years ago) link
According to the TitanTV listing, 8pm is a recap, 9pm is a 2-part premiere (LA X pts 1 and 2)
― Nhex, Friday, 29 January 2010 00:23 (fourteen years ago) link
I have my parents visiting so will need an excuse to watch it in peace, preferably not too long after it's on as I won't be able to stand the suspense.

and it was so totally expected... the whole 'lol-it-never-happened' thing (which is obv not the case, otherwise it wouldn't be in the first 5mins)

Apparently it was some sort of competition where the winners got this footage? Obviously it's pretty inconsequential and they knew it would get out though.

Here's a comparison someone did with the pilot episode.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoaRzEMpya0
Seems like Jack is maybe experiencing deja vu right? Would be interesting if these were like the flashes Desmond had after the Hatch exploded, where some of the characters have the consciousness of what happened during the first five seasons.

haha i thought about avoiding it but just1n3 and Mister Jim's posts were spoilery enough that i went ahead and bit the bullet, and really it's nothing worth regretting. doesn't change or detract from my anticipation of the other 115 minutes of the episode at all.
