yeah lost threads have been traditionally pretty nicely spoiler-free imo and roz is right, there was no real revelation here. also the spoiler-avoiders should just not use the internet for 3 months before the season premiere.

i think there should be a new thread regardless since this is already 600+ posts long and it's going to be a bitch opening it up if you want to re-read comments on previous episodes (which i do cause i'm a nerd). can't think of a decent title though.

just watched the finale again, i intended to watch the whole 5 seasons but then i realised i have a life.

few interesting bits, fake locke really lays it on thick with richard etc, acting like he doesn't know where jacob lives and stuff. some interesting stuff with bram and the shadow of the statue dudes at the start, they are talking about whether to trust lapidus and ilana says something like "he's a candidate". i assume a candidate for their stupid gang.

is it plausible that the reality that the shadow of the statue people are in is already the alternate-bomb-blew-up reality?

like, that reality was created as soon as jack and co decided to go back to the island, it being fated that they would blow up da bomb

and were Ilana, etc, in a similar situation to Jack, etc, at some other point in time?

my flatmate watched s5 finale with me tonight, and has never scene any of it. she asked what was going on and even as I admitted she'd have no idea what I was talking about and tried to give a brief synopsis I found myself thinking how stupid this show is when the spell is broken.

once you get back into the weekly groove of a series tho it seems easier to suspend belief and just sit back and enjoy.

Local Garda OTM. It's exactly the kind of show I should hate but I don't, and I think it's more than just the amount of time invested in it. I think the whole internet discussion thing is a large part of it, though.

That's a great idea, I was thinking beforehand that the alt-reality is actually the reality created by the successful intervention of the El Touchy/ShadowStatue crew against MIB. The 'present' narrative hasn't caught up to its creation yet.

for the sake of argument...i don't understand how the shadow people could be in some alternate reality when they're constantly interacting w/ people who aren't in that reality. obviously this show finds ways of making even the most far fetched premise work, but i don't see it.

I have a feeling that scene is important to the writers in some annoying philosophical way--like R & B were the only ones who didn't come to the island and fight and kill and corrupt, but found some Jacob-like zen attitude, thereby redeeming humanity. Of course they f'd up the scene by making it all about Who duz Sawyer luv?

I thought that scene was just another wink at the camera kinda thing, "LOL we really have nothing left to do with these characters but don't wanna kill them off, so we'll let them roll their damn eyes at the drama queens running around advancing the plot to poke fun at our own show a bit"

Yeah, personally I loved that scene! The show kinda needs some characters (usually Hurley) to pipe up once in a while to talk about how ridiculous it all is, to make the really dramatic stuff more easy to go with.
