hmmm... when i have a boyfriend i am usually proud of my curves too since boys dig curves i find. i lose confidence in it when i'm solo though, and then my hips seem so much bigger than my waist and it all feels horribly out of proportion.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 05:53 (nineteen years ago) link

I hate my belleh, but it really is preggers-huge at the moment and out of all proportion with the rest of me, and I cant do up my pants :(

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 05:54 (nineteen years ago) link

we are all so different aren't we, even when i gave up smoking and got pudgy i still always had a flat belly. the weight goes straight to my bottom for me. maybe that's why i'm self-conscious about it.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 05:57 (nineteen years ago) link

seriously, hasn't Sir Mix-a-lot taught us anything?
xpost hips much bigger than waist? that's how it's supposed to be!

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 05:58 (nineteen years ago) link

Exactly! And my waist is bigger than everything :( I'm like a freakin biafran, Ive always had a pot. WHYYYEEE?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 06:08 (nineteen years ago) link

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 06:08 (nineteen years ago) link

oops whoever learned anything from sir mixalot it wasn't jeans and trousers manufacturers, i can never get ones that fit my hips that aren't miles too big around the waist.

ugg boots=white trash britney going to the 7-11 half asleep to buy marlboro reds

i like that look. i'm not going to adopt it myself, necessarily, but i do find it charming in its own way.

Ponchos with heels - classic or dud?

Ponchos with high heels - Welcome To London.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 11:53 (nineteen years ago) link

i'm confused by the hatred for straight-legged/tapered jeans. they might be the best kind.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 11:58 (nineteen years ago) link

Straight legs - good, tappered legs - bad. (The thighs the limit)

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 12:08 (nineteen years ago) link

Lauren, I finally got my ass in Sergio Valente jeans (when Loehmanns was carrying a shitload) and love love love. I never thought I would love tapered jeans so much, but due to the 2% lycra content they are comfortable and they seem to make my legs look much longer. This is why we love boys in tight jeans.

S!monB!rch (Carey), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 13:25 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeah, I can understand hating tapered jeans, because most brands make you look like a paunchy penguin because of the cut or the quality of the denim.

S!monB!rch (Carey), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 13:28 (nineteen years ago) link

yes! best jeans ever, right? i'm really worried... my only remaining pair are starting to wear out after like 3 years of near-constant use.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 13:30 (nineteen years ago) link

Yes, after trying them on I almost bought all the remaining ones in my size (only $40! Loehmanns luv luv luv) They had like 5 different styles too. I feel ashamed that the ones that I loved were the DIVA style. I can be your jean bitch and be on the lookout for when more pop up there. I think they also had Yanuk, Chip and Peppers and Earls for about $50. I can't seem to get those jeans over my ass though because of the lowrise.

S!monB!rch (Carey), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 13:36 (nineteen years ago) link

I have seen some women, who look damn good in crocheted ponchos. Not many though.

I like high heels, and wish I cd find a pair in size 11.

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 13:40 (nineteen years ago) link

there's one type of earl that goes over more voluptuous derrieres. i don't know the name, unfortunately, but they're almost as good as the sergios.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 13:42 (nineteen years ago) link

Argh. (thx stevem)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 13:43 (nineteen years ago) link

I hate shopping for jeans - it takes ages to find any that will go over my thighs and when I do, they're really baggy around the waist. I managed to get some in Warehouse a couple of weeks ago that were called LA Wide Leg. That's shopspeak for 1ucy 4lder Fat Thighs.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 14:10 (nineteen years ago) link

When I lived in the UK I could not find a single pair of trousers that fit me. Ever.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 14:52 (nineteen years ago) link

This thread is making me want to wear heels. I want to look like the Latina rockabilly chicks in L.A. It will be a big stretch for me, I think.

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 17:43 (nineteen years ago) link

I like the look of high heels.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 17:46 (nineteen years ago) link

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 18:30 (nineteen years ago) link

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 20:11 (nineteen years ago) link

can someone post pictures of these 'tapered jeans', they can't be what I imagine.

cºzen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 20:16 (nineteen years ago) link

do you just mean 'non-flared', like regular old 501s? cos they are good, much better than flared jeans. though you risk benig though to look silly, I think.

cºzen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 20:17 (nineteen years ago) link

a tapir + a pair of jeans.

cºzen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 20:20 (nineteen years ago) link

Was that what you imagined?

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 20:26 (nineteen years ago) link

I don't think most guys are into clothes that show off their legs and ass.

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 20:34 (nineteen years ago) link

I think they would if they thought it would give them any kind of sexual advantage.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 20:45 (nineteen years ago) link

And some do wear tight outfits, and I assume they think the laydeez dig it.

Rock n roll boys wear tiiight pants.

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 21:53 (nineteen years ago) link

seriously though, I'm not huge, yet if I wear pants that are even slightly tight, you could ascertain my religion. Wait, I don't have a religion. Okay, you can deduce the religion of my parents. At the time of my circumcision. Wait, I'll start over...

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 22:06 (nineteen years ago) link

I told Lauren that when I wear my tapered jeans I feel like I should be carrying a tambourine and shaking it like David Johansen.

S!monB!rch (Carey), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 22:32 (nineteen years ago) link

He thinks so too!

GOD BLESS boys in tight jeans (and girls too).

S!monB!rch (Carey), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 22:50 (nineteen years ago) link

It's probably a pain in the ass to wear boxers with those pants, maybe that is the real problem in today's modern era.

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 01:29 (nineteen years ago) link

Tight pants are a little hardon the boys.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 01:31 (nineteen years ago) link

Tight leather pants, male rock star style - they must have the leather specially stretched on one side or the other, and this eliminates the problem. Myself, I dress to the left.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 01:33 (nineteen years ago) link

Honestly I just think that a lot of the rock stars sporting these pants don't really have much of a package.

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 01:34 (nineteen years ago) link

OTOH I'd also say that about the boys in the subway sporting pants so huge they're falling off their asses, so maybe it's just that I assume the worst.
