Their clothes only fit a certain body type well and I am not that body type. All Sm/Med shirts I've ever tried to wear from them are too short on the torso. Constantly pulling down on them like a fat girl tugging on a sweater.
― queen frostine (Eric H.), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 16:05 (fourteen years ago) link
they do cut it short on the torso, but sometimes that boxy thing they do with their sweaters works for me. if i want to feel like i'm about to go the diner after my lacross game, that is.

dunno, a&f / american eagle / hollister apparel is useful for identifying fags to avoid imo
― elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 16:08 (fourteen years ago) link
also let's not forget that the a&f magalog was some serious spank material in its day
― elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 16:09 (fourteen years ago) link
lol. well obv im not totin a&f / american eagle labels all over town. i don't even own anything from there but look, i grew up in a waspy village on long island so i gotta rep

So you grew up with real, old-school A&F like the hippo balanced upon by this young lady?

yeah ditto! giant-ass logos can fuck off as well. this makes buying clothes more difficult than it should be. small eg lacoste logo is about as far as i'll go.
a&f obv codes differently in the US but the boys in their adverts are 99% total ws

OK, any label that wasn't "rebranded" since my birth is fine.

Are there really adults who wear A&F? Though the guy I'm dating wears GAP of all things... Maybe we'll go on a trip together to Old Navy and pick out matching fleece garbage bags, or whatever their clothing is supposed to be.
― Spectrum, Tuesday, 23 March 2010 16:46 (fourteen years ago) link
i'v been levis crazy lately
― big (surm), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 16:46 (fourteen years ago) link
can't buy anything from gap anymore. i've been scarred from jr high.
― big (surm), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 16:47 (fourteen years ago) link
Ugh, Old Navy. The worst.
― queen frostine (Eric H.), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 16:55 (fourteen years ago) link
instead of receiving underwear and sock, i now receive old navy gift cards from parents every christmas. so i use then to restock underwear and socks. plus ca change...

I won't wear Converse: college classmate scion of that family was a douchenozzle and I decided then I would not subsidize. Nor any of the Ralph Lauren family or any rebooted brand that makes the logo bigger in relaunch. I am going to be having a crisis moment with Fred Perry when they do this.
Lacoste, yes; Brooks Brothers, yes; Orvis, yes. Would be fun if Londoners discovered Orvis snakeproof boots, the shop is opposite APC and DSM so it could be only a matter of time.

Though the guy I'm dating wears GAP of all things.
I wear lots of solid V-neck tees from Gap. Also: cargo shorts.
― APPLAUD YOU CORPSES (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 17:31 (fourteen years ago) link
Ramz I'm going to BARF. Solids are fine, but I've been avoiding branded anything for quite some time (maybe 8 years?). I went in American Eagle once with my friend a few years ago and tried to find one single item that didn't have rips/tears or AMERICAN EAGLE all over it, and I found nothing. Old Navy is OK but their stuff is cut like a trashbag; even the Smalls don't fit me.
Also, I bought a pair of black Levi's in the beginning of Sept and have worn them almost every single day since then.
Morbs are you going to Mattachine?
― gabourey voltaire (Stevie D), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 18:16 (fourteen years ago) link
omg i've been getting so much mileage out of my black levis
― big (surm), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 18:26 (fourteen years ago) link
Want list: pair of Levis 511 32x36 in jet black. Making do with gray for the time being.
― queen frostine (Eric H.), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 18:29 (fourteen years ago) link
yea that's exactly what i have! in a shorter length. v utilitarian
― big (surm), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 18:30 (fourteen years ago) link
I am actually wearing Levi 511 32(?)x30 (i think) in jet black. But after wearing them so much they have faded a bit. Planning to re-dye though.
also wtf, 32x36?? am gonna start calling you Lara Stone
― gabourey voltaire (Stevie D), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 18:31 (fourteen years ago) link
No I think they're 30x30 or 30x32. I forget. It all depends on the brand, or even style. I bought them after I tried on another pair of more denim-y 30x30 511s that were waaaay too small.

agree with elmo here. old navy is crap but whenever i go to n. america i always buy about 10 trile packs of underwear. it's the only place that does a nice but of tighty whitey that doesn't break the bank
― jed_, Tuesday, 23 March 2010 18:48 (fourteen years ago) link
triple*
& really, who cares about a&f's clothes?! or how horrible their ceo is (horrible) cuz they consistently feature amazingly hot guys so i think it's a fair trade off

i buy hanes briefs from target

― queen frostine (Eric H.), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 18:49 (fourteen years ago) link
I'll go to Mattachine if I'm not tired, and assuming I stick around after work to go to The Prowler at Film Forum @ 7:40 that night.
32w, I hate youse.

i have two pairs of levis that i wear (one blue, one black) and maroon corduroys that i wear when the mood strikes
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 23 March 2010 18:56 (fourteen years ago) link
Sad that Levis cords seem to top out at 32" inseams these days.

levis trouser jeans are a really good investment, too, if you're looking for something a little less casual than jeans, but not dressy

I need new jeans, but today I'm wearing interview pants. So I can earn more and buy any clothes whatsoever.
