agree with elmo here. old navy is crap but whenever i go to n. america i always buy about 10 trile packs of underwear. it's the only place that does a nice but of tighty whitey that doesn't break the bank

& really, who cares about a&f's clothes?! or how horrible their ceo is (horrible) cuz they consistently feature amazingly hot guys so i think it's a fair trade off

I'd gladly chop at least two inches out of my shins. It would make shopping for pants way easier.

I'll go to Mattachine if I'm not tired, and assuming I stick around after work to go to The Prowler at Film Forum @ 7:40 that night.
32w, I hate youse.

oh yeah, totally woulda pegged you as a boxer briefs guy, i was a little surprised
i actually think plain old boxers are reallllllly hot too, but with the wrong pair of pants it's too much fabric

i have two pairs of levis that i wear (one blue, one black) and maroon corduroys that i wear when the mood strikes
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 23 March 2010 18:56 (fourteen years ago) link
Sad that Levis cords seem to top out at 32" inseams these days.

levis trouser jeans are a really good investment, too, if you're looking for something a little less casual than jeans, but not dressy

I need new jeans, but today I'm wearing interview pants. So I can earn more and buy any clothes whatsoever.

i love a boy in boxers. it's so guy-y
― big (surm), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 19:07 (fourteen years ago) link
also they're just so old school and cute !
I think you have to have thighs the size of Cheyenne Jackson's for them to really look flattering, but that's just me.
― queen frostine (Eric H.), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 19:10 (fourteen years ago) link
ramzi is partly correct, but a guy's guy in boxer briefs is actually hotter because of the expectations it defies, so boxers are kind of a lose-lose all around

Trouser jeans--I think that is what mine are. They're jean-ish with a hint of strech but don't feel like denim, exactly. I wonder what kind of guy I seem like (briefs, boxbriefs, boxers, nothing?)

Haha. Go figure that no one here figured out why McBride hates A&F. He's not necessarily against branding. Only mentions the CEO in the capacity of him having turned a struggling company into a very successful one. Doesn't complain about the fit of their clothes, although he does accuse their clothes of being very ordinary, fashionable logo aside. He doesn't really complain about fagz who wear A&F, although he does have some interesting, somewhat damning insight about them.
The problem with A&F, and this is something I've felt since high school, but could never quite articulate, is that they are selling whiteness. McBride specifically contrasts this Ralph Lauren, who, yes, are selling an upper middle class lifestyle, but one attainable to anyone who can afford it. A&F regularly discriminates against non-white employees, with store managers forced to fire them if higher-ups discover them working at their stores, and usually only able to hire them to begin with if they fit a very rigid look that avoids any ethnic cultural signifiers, as articulated by their highly race-coded company policy. They were subject to a class-action lawsuit over this.
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 04:27 (fourteen years ago) link
The insight about (white) A&F fagz is that, one step removed from the Old Boys' Club, their purchase of whiteness subconsciously allows them to feel included in the Old Boys' Club which might otherwise deny them because of their sexuality. He contrasts them with gay Republicans, who are more cognizant of their one-step-away status and decide to claim the benefits of the Good Ol' Boys for themselves. As for non-white A&F fagz, they just have their shit even more twisted.
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 24 March 2010 04:35 (fourteen years ago) link
i went to an A&F store for the first time a couple of weeks ago (looking for a tie), and it blew my mind. it was like walking into a nightclub... a nightclub full of clothes! the lighting was so, so dim and the music was so, so loud. and there was this fucking awful smell, like cheap cologne, being pumped out of the aircon. i could actually smell it on my clothes after i walked out.
