April's unnamed sister with no lines = biggest LOL of the episode.

I believe April's sister is Natalie? She's mentioned her somewhere before.
Leslie tied to the gate was hilarious, I think they could've milked it even more.

Give a man a fish, you’ll feed him for a day. Don’t teach a man to fish and feed yourself. He’s a grown man, fishing’s not that hard.

the only person who doesn't thrill me on this show is mark. i know that they need some straight men/women, but he just seems like he should be on the office. all his reaction shots are so office-y.

still cannot deal with aziz

Mark will be leaving the show soon, so Scott's in luck.

aziz's tom haverford is the only character on the show that doesn't feel like a real person, and that really sticks out like a sore thumb.
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 10 May 2010 21:55 (fourteen years ago) link
He reminds me of a couple guys I know.

i was walking around my neighborhood earlier today and saw a film l.a. notice on a door that said "parks and rec" used that building for filming a couple days ago. i was so happy!

a lot of gushing, but i can't help but largely agree - the show has been so consistently great and the character development so well-handled, it's probably my favorite sitcom on right now (even if Community is coming really close to knocking it off that top spot with a string of great eps recently) in a time where we're suddenly basking in many new well-executed sitcoms
i like adam scott already - hope natalie morales stays on for a while
― Nhex, Friday, 14 May 2010 10:35 (fourteen years ago) link
Isn't Adam Scott's character pretty much the same character he plays on Party Down? He even has an embarassing catchphrase he's trying to live down.
― ô_o (Nicole), Friday, 14 May 2010 10:48 (fourteen years ago) link
yeah was just about to say, lol at adam scott typecasting
― cozen, Friday, 14 May 2010 11:03 (fourteen years ago) link
His name on Party Down - Henry. His name on Parks & Rec - Ben. The writers must like Lost.
― ô_o (Nicole), Friday, 14 May 2010 14:31 (fourteen years ago) link
this episode was pretty much all just about secretive smiles and knowing looks.
― s.clover, Friday, 14 May 2010 15:03 (fourteen years ago) link
yeah i still fuckin h8 any scene that ends with a character quietly looking at the camera. but i could like FEEL the show instantly improving and maybe becoming something i could wholeheartedly enjoy the moment Lowe & Scott showed up.

rob taking over like alec in glengarry. what a hoot!
― scott seward, Friday, 14 May 2010 18:50 (fourteen years ago) link
the av club recap is really weird in that the guy is some kind of over-the-top superfan of the show but doesn't seem to have any idea about the announcement weeks ago that Lowe & Scott are new cast members, not guest stars, or that Schneider is leaving etc.
― itt tech (some dude), Friday, 14 May 2010 18:52 (fourteen years ago) link
lowe doing double duty on P&R and B&S? maybe B&S isn't coming back. i don't read the news anymore.

Amazing ep -- was that an Archer reference during drunk karaoke?
― Mordy, Saturday, 15 May 2010 01:28 (fourteen years ago) link
maybe my favorite Jerry moment ever with Anne there.
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 15 May 2010 02:23 (fourteen years ago) link
xp i think it's merely the universal cheesiness of "highway to the danger zone" being referenced. that sure was a great running gag in Archer

i just saw this show for the first time on an airplane. it was amusing and kind of charming. i love amy poehler. that aziz fellow wasn't funny, but i viewed him as less of an attempt at making a "zany" character and more of a set-up fellow for the head of the office, who i thought was pretty funny. i realize their roles are supposed to be the other way around.
i've never seen the office. is parks & recreation a carbon-copy of it?

No, P&R is much more amiable and less zany.

Ron Swanson/mustache guy/the head of the office is quite often the funniest person in any given episode, fwiw.
