I get to ask him a question!
― kclu, Monday, 3 May 2010 20:28 (fourteen years ago) link
Ask him why Johnny + Lisa weren't horrified when Denny said he likes to watch them. Isn't someone voyeuring on your sex-life ridic creepy?
― Mordy, Monday, 3 May 2010 20:30 (fourteen years ago) link
I tried to watch this by myself at home on DVD and got about 30 seconds into the second love scene before turning it off.I guess you have to see it with a group.

Just make sure it isn't PCP because that might be weird.

I have always wanted to see this and I found the perfect occasion: the star will be coming to see it with me. I'm glad I never went ahead and saw this with one of my friend's that doesn't appreciate corny humor

Oh I see that the link that kclu posted last week was for the same event. Dang, I'm gonna have to preorder tix aren't I
― CaptainLorax, Tuesday, 4 May 2010 21:15 (fourteen years ago) link
yep, definitely. i don't know, though, you might still want to try to watch it beforehand if possible - from what i was told, it's not the best way to see it for the first time, since you won't hear half the dialogue over the drunken hooting and hollering
― Nhex, Tuesday, 4 May 2010 21:17 (fourteen years ago) link
Ohhh
― CaptainLorax, Tuesday, 4 May 2010 21:18 (fourteen years ago) link
I can attest to that, I missed a great deal of the dialog due to the noise. Didnt matter, really. But still.

This was on in London recently but I couldn't find anyone who wanted to go so I didn't go and now I've read this thread I am SAD about that.

― Mordy, Sunday, 16 May 2010 17:29 (fourteen years ago) link
i was worried this was going to be just boring, but it wasn't at all. the audience participation stuff probably helped smooth things over, but damn, such an intense level of sustained shittiness.
― taylory dayne (goole), Sunday, 16 May 2010 17:32 (fourteen years ago) link
I was thinking about this film the other day (as I often do) and I think it appeals to me for the same reason that TVtropes appeals to me. It deconstructs narrative to bare bones that, left as is, are totally meaningless. It's like some kind of unconscious dreaming id of human narrative -- like dreaming.

What's this look that Denny + Mark are giving each other at 2:34 in that clip? Are they co-conspirators in something we're never shown? Does Denny distrust Mark because he suspects he's having an affair with Lisa? Is Mark secretly Denny's father? Are they just having eye-sex?

lol @ how many "I dont want to talk about it"s Lisa has. I noticed that when I watched the movie, by the end I was yelling "you never do you bitch!" at the screen.

really glad i saw this for the first time (like a week or two ago) with someone else, but not in a theater full of people I don't know. You definitely want to share the experience but I liked being able to rewind and not have people who know the film shouting over it. Really does live up to the hype whether you're someone who doesn't really do ironic films or does them all the time.

has no bearing at all on the lines before or after, or the rest of the scene, or anything that happens in the rest of the movie. but the sound editing and cuts put it right in the scene, so effort went into putting it where it is, it's not a mistake.
xp

He's too busy to play cards because he expects Lisa at any minute, yet he subjects his buds to a rambling story then asks them if they want to eat something?
― lpz, Wednesday, 19 May 2010 21:06 (fourteen years ago) link
Holy hell, I had a DREAM about this movie last night. At first it was just me and some friends going to a showing, at which Wiseau was appearing. I remember walking around looking for a seat. and then the next thing I know I'm actually *in* the film, as a minor character. Lisa kept taking beers out of a large, commercial fridge and laughing very insincerely at everything.
wtf.

Saw this last night. LOL @ Q&A with Tommy Wiseau beforehand.
― dud rock (crüt), Sunday, 23 May 2010 14:07 (fourteen years ago) link
his responses were 1/3 incomprehensible gibberish, 1/3 cryptic hints ("the most famous person who has ever been to a screening of the room, is a woman and name starts with C. Ha ha!"), and 1/3 "that is a very boring question"

LOL I was gonna ask you for an update on this. How was the audience during the film? I'm actually curious if each city/country has developed its own diferent memes/jokes for shouting and whatnot.

Hmm i guess, like I've seen the roof scene, the flowershop scene and lots of reviews, doubt that will detract massively though.
My main worry, if one film could call it that: I don't know if you've seen/heard of the Troll 2 cult fandom, but I worry that the film just won't be entertaining and worth sitting through apart from the odd lol/wtf moment. Maybe sitting in a big cinema after a few drinks with a good crowd could alter things though.
Have any of you seen it in London?
― Davek (davek_00), Sunday, 23 May 2010 22:07 (fourteen years ago) link
The Room is nothing like Troll 2. Troll 2 is really just a really bad, poorly acted film. The Room is transcendentally so - like really you won't be bored at all.
― Mordy, Sunday, 23 May 2010 22:11 (fourteen years ago) link
Yeah, Troll 2 is way more boring, although it has a few transcendent moments.
