uh, wow, food. this guy i am having a thing with (three nights in a row, i'm kind of exhausted) cooked SILKWORM PUPAE last night at this barbecue. actually not bad— like a nutty fake chicken taste?

anyway, yeah, he's pretty wild. commercial diver, underwater welder, film-maker, sex-worker, punk rock.

now to search for jobs and get on food stamps.

i watched "snapped" yesterday, about an ex male stripper who got killed. he was very hot. now he's dead.

that was my sunday afternoon.

The last guy I was seeing was such a fussy eater, he was lovely but it's such a relief that I no longer have to worry about showing him menus to veto - now I can just sit at home with soup for one.

I do want to hear Dr Morbius' food story now though

My roommates keep leaving their dishes in the sink unwashed for days at a time and I'm wondering how to get them to stop without being a dick and yelling at them, or being a martyr and doing them myself.

that's disgusting.

tell them to do their fucking dishes or u'll hire a cleaning lady and charge them.

it's undeniably gross, but it's also how i've lived for like the past 3 years, also i hate doing dishes so idk

i got into it recently. i got like immersed in the bubbles, and i got this feeling like "i am taking care of something"

like, my house became my battleship, and i was the captain. all in that one moment.

Hahaha. I recently went on a sort of cleaning frenzy and asserted myself in the scheme of the decorating/organization of the place and hopefully implanted some guilt about being a fucking slob, but that's probably unlikely.

I'm trying to see if leaving their dishes neatly stacked (yet unwashed) outside of the sink so that I can still use it, and to make apparent the dirty/clean contrast will work. We'll see.

i like doing dishes and do them fairly frequently (i get annoyed when they pile up). i do sometimes let the caked-on tough-to-get-off stuff sit for days in soapy water out of absentmindedness

if nothing else it's an excellent way to procrastinate

I do them every few days or so. If I get really lazy I might go a week.

i try to and INTEND to do them regularly, but the fact of the matter is I cook food and then eat it and then leave my house, and I come home and maybe go online and then sleep and leave my house again and forget that the sink with my dishes in it even exists :(

one of the ways i can tell i've become a responsible adult is that when i was a student, i'd leave my dishes for weeks before doing them. now, i do them every couple of days at worst. it's too gross otherwise.

that said i still base what i eat on how little washing up it'll involve. hence pretty much never frying anything.

if i lived alone or with one other person or with people who also did their dishes, i would prob feel pressure to do them, but with three other people who (basically) don't do them, there's not much incentive on my part

or anyone's part obv, since i'm not any different

you start out with good intentions but it's so easy to leave things where they fall on the basis that no one will care and you can just deal with it later (where later = in a month, on the eve of the other housemates' return)

I spent an hour Sunday night scrubbing and cleaning my bathroom stall. FACT.

I've never minded doing dishes. That tomato water floating in dishes in the sink totally grosses me out.

i do dishes and vacuum everyday. then my boyfriend comes home and makes more dishes, and i do them. and then he buys me dinner.

i mean like, if need be, i do dishes when i get home from going out at 4am. i smoke a bowl, put on some lady gaga and clean up the house. and then when i'm done, i stare at my apartment.

yup.

my mom was a cleaning lady.

So all it takes is a bowl and you'll clean? Expect a ring shortly.

i fucking hate that water! if you leave dishes, leave 'em on the sideboard - maybe put water in bowls or whatever to prevent encrustation, i guess, but lakes of gross dishwater <<<<<<<<< mere dirty dishes.

i am good about doing my own dishes. i won't do other peoples' dishes, but my housemates tend to be good about that sort of thing... most of the reason for this is that i don't cook that much, especially in the summer, so.

I'm lucky enough to have a dishwasher, which is amazing, but i still do about half of the dishwashing by hand. and even if I'm feeling too lazy to load the dishwasher, the kitchen sink is in a pantry area, the door of which i've fitted with a curtain, so I can just draw that and the dirty dishes are "away" and i don't have to look at them.

I'm pretty good about dishwashing now. Nothing gets crusty.
