Guys I have to tell you bout what is probably the gayest moment of my life that occured the other day when my friend Sally parked on a side street so I could run into the liquor store. I was laughing and running to her car w/ two plastic bags of booze in my hands and I felt just like/pretended I was Madonna running down the hall with suitcases in the "Justify My Love" video which made me laugh even harder, and it just looked absolutely ridiculous. She was like half a block away too.

the main prob with that article he doesn't even attempt to name an example of a gay actor who played straight well -- i'm perfectly willing to believe that sean hayes & glee dude suck at their roles -- also the wording - "is he compensating for being gay?" - was prob unfortunate

The headline blurb that gay actors playing straight "never" works is insane, but I am unsurprised that the guy wasn't convinced by Sean Hayes playing a Jack Lemmon/Jerry Orbach role. This is mostly a "media personality" issue, not an acting issue. (I know of that Jonathan Groff cutie but have never seen him in anything, and had no idea he was "openly gay" cuz I don't read many interviews/PR.)

But I will continue to not read Newsweek.

I think "gay" here is more media personality, as someone mentioned above. Rock Hudson was a hardcore homo and he played the man every man wanted to be but couldn't because their parents sent them away to a special sports camp that really did more harm than good, honestly.
