No, because everyone will be at Lloyd Cole.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 27 September 2004 16:38 (nineteen years ago) link

I am so sorry to miss Lloyd, in Glasgow.

the bellefox, Monday, 27 September 2004 16:40 (nineteen years ago) link

Glasgow is sorry too.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 27 September 2004 16:42 (nineteen years ago) link

Lloyd's going to be there before the show ... and I suspect the entire audience will be there as well.

dave225 (Dave225), Monday, 27 September 2004 16:43 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm going to dundee, on the sixteenth. does that help?

RJG (RJG), Monday, 27 September 2004 16:49 (nineteen years ago) link

Is he really, or are you trying to tempt us? I would go to Lloyd if he was cheaper and at the Opry, but he's not.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 27 September 2004 16:53 (nineteen years ago) link

there was a rumour, that lloyd would be at the halt, around the concert.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 27 September 2004 16:54 (nineteen years ago) link

My bank balance would be helped slightly by not going to see Lloyd Cole. Halt-FAP on Tuesday then?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 27 September 2004 16:59 (nineteen years ago) link

I can't find the original message from the Lloyd Cole list - but either Lloyd himself or one of the band posted that they planned to be at the Halt, "as usual" before the show.

xpost -

Halt FAP. (As an out-of-towner .. how might I recognize an ILE crowd?)

dave225 (Dave225), Monday, 27 September 2004 17:02 (nineteen years ago) link

Today I saw a CD called

LLOYD COLE.
THE COMMOTIONS.
THE SINGLES. (I think.)

Excitingly, it includes a DVD.

I will find a Lloyd Cole thread for this too.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 27 September 2004 17:07 (nineteen years ago) link

There are like a billion photos of Ally C and RJG on ILE.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 27 September 2004 17:13 (nineteen years ago) link

I look, like I should be in the movies.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 27 September 2004 19:52 (nineteen years ago) link

I'll come along. I don't think I know where The Halt is. I hope it isn't anything like The Hall.

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 00:42 (nineteen years ago) link

just rememeber: don't look back, like some do in the movies.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 12:12 (nineteen years ago) link

I suppose it is RJG's thread. He must be the one to make herald the new thread.

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 12:26 (nineteen years ago) link

RJG will not be talked to.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:10 (nineteen years ago) link

jane aeternus, Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:49 (nineteen years ago) link

cºzen (Cozen), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:51 (nineteen years ago) link

Cozen, come for pizza. Or just come back.

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:54 (nineteen years ago) link

so do the glasgow folks have any opinions on this http://www.popmatters.com/features/tttp/2robertson.shtml

H (Heruy), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:28 (nineteen years ago) link

We could try somewhere else, maybe?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 30 September 2004 15:51 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm all in favour of Scotland With Style, Hare, mainly because I fancied the woman in the posters. However, I am also in favour of David Shirgley, who made that notice. I don't know if I am in favour of the SECC. What do others think?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 30 September 2004 15:57 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm not in favour of people who write Glasgowian rather than Glaswegian then expect me to take their writing seriously.

I quite like the Armadillo, but I'm not sure about the Science Centre. However if you go up Govan Road heading from Paisley Road Toll towards Govan, there is a point of view where the IMAX, the Science Centre and the stupid tower that doesn't work are immensely phallic-looking.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:07 (nineteen years ago) link

scotland with style: no

david shrigley: yes

secc: no

science centre: why not?

I thought they fixed the stupid tower.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:20 (nineteen years ago) link

I think it broke again.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:25 (nineteen years ago) link

every time they fix it?

I had no idea, that you had such powers.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:27 (nineteen years ago) link

They are think of putting it on a plinth, and installing CCTV, to stop me breaking it.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:29 (nineteen years ago) link

What no pizza? Surely, there is another place?

I like the SECC.

Is "Ae Fond Kiss" good, cozen? It looked kind of schmalzy and cliché-ridden from the trailer. Where have you gone that isn't Glasgow? You should come back, and stop all this other-places nonsense.

Cathy (Cathy), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:47 (nineteen years ago) link

I love you, glasgow.

cºzen (Cozen), Thursday, 30 September 2004 17:29 (nineteen years ago) link

I would like to know about 'Ae Fond Kiss' too, because I thought the trailer looked rubbish and then at the end it said, 'Ken Loach'.

I didn't know Glasgow had an IMAX. I hope it has special 'regional' programming.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:20 (nineteen years ago) link

The Daily Record are giving away a free DVD of Gregory's Girl with Saturday's paper. This is the second best reason to buy the Record (the best being the slim chance that 96 and Madchen may be in the food review section photo again).

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:24 (nineteen years ago) link

Can someone get me one, please? I'll swap it for a Maidenhead Advertiser with a voucher for McDonald's.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:26 (nineteen years ago) link

"slim"

"96"

Mooro (Mooro), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:30 (nineteen years ago) link

I will buy that, for myself. presuming they have it, here, here.

I always cry at endings.

I always cry at ken loach films too, it doesn't mean they're not right.

'ae fond kiss and then we sever...

and to see her was to love her,
to love but her and her forever.

ae fond kiss and then we sever...'

it was my gran's favourite poem, it is poignant for me.
