Poor Tracy. At least you lived with a really nice family while you were alive, old dog.
― accentmonkey, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 16:59 (sixteen years ago) link
Echoing that. Sorry to hear it, sir -- dogs are the best.
Our family dog is getting older and looks it, especially when she limps after first getting up from her bed. I really hope this Xmas wasn't the last one I see her at.

Thanks everybody. Sad morning, but happy memories.
― Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 19:44 (sixteen years ago) link
Sorry Rock.
xpost to Ned: My family's black lab is much the same. Getting much skinnier, grey muzzle, etc. She still pulls on the leash while on walks, but the years are piling up. The recent disappearance of the family cat (put to sleep in old age) has apparently spooked her out a bit, too.

I too am sorry to hear about Tracy. But it sounds like she had a good life.
― rener, Friday, 4 January 2008 11:03 (sixteen years ago) link
Thanks, rener. She did have a good life.
I'm not up to digging a grave, and not sure where on our property we'd put it -- and she was too much a family member to be disposed of as medical waste -- so we're taking her down to the veterinary school in Starkville for cremation later this morning.

Aw, Tracy! I thought she'd make it to 20! What a good girl she was! Hugs, Rock Hardy and Jude.

Our little girl - Abby - is a 5 pound Yorkie who still has a lot of fuss and fight left in her at 13. She keeps us entertained.

Little dogs live so long! Pictures of Abby!

I love puppies, I am such a dog for christmas type.
― I know, right?, Friday, 4 January 2008 15:57 (sixteen years ago) link
I am so much more excited over puppies than I am over human babies. All my molecules do the crazy dance when I see one. Dogs in general, actually. Their souls are right on the surface. My husband is the same way. Whenever we're away from home we make spectacles of ourselves, falling all over complete strangers' dogs, on account of our dog-starvation.
― Beth Parker, Friday, 4 January 2008 16:06 (sixteen years ago) link
Rock - sorry about Tracy. 18 years... what a dog.

my 16 year old cocker was diagnosed with a sarcoma yesterday. the doctor told me that it might not be life-limiting, but he also has bad teeth and heart arrythmia. things aren't looking so great. last year he was a lot more lively, but now he mostly sleeps.
i'm feeling pretty low about this, but am trying to love him as much as i can while he's here and ok.
this is junie: http://i29.tinypic.com/10e54sp.jpg

What a lovely old dog. Sorry to hear he's not well, but it sounds like he's got a good owner looking after him.

dear milk lady: ;_;
I think I love old dogs more than puppies. I'm pretty pumped because the place I'm moving into has a 14 year old kitty named Lizard. She sleeps all day and roams all night, and I work the graveyard shift full time, so I think she and I are gonna be best buds this summer.

he got a haircut especially for the occasion dog day at the sox park is really something to behold; there is a little parade around the field and then they periodically show people's dogs on the big screen. junie didn't make it to the screen, but he did pee in the stadium on his way out. classy!

At my parents' house in Oxford, have discovered a rather sad and lost looking old black lab sitting on the front steps. She has a mobile no. on her tag, but no answer from there, so we've let her into the garden.
― ledge, Sunday, 27 July 2008 12:26 (fifteen years ago) link
She seems quite happy in the garden, blithely strolling through and rooting around in the borders, or rolling on the grass

Following a call to the dog warden, she has been collected by her owner. Didn't seem overly eager to be returning home! Apparently she is nine years old, and the last time she went missing she got on a bus headed for Wantage, 20 miles away!

Dan and Charlie make it out of the gorilla enclosure and into the penguin exhibit, where the penguin's attack Charlie as Dan hurries away. After once again finding he will not be able to make it to the party, he spots a superhero who has been hired by Vicki to fly in, as Emily wanted a superhero.

For what i've read on wiki, I'm gonna guess this was a wacky, mildly raunchy teen-comedy that Disney realized was terrible, so they neutered it and are marketing it as a family movie. But that's just a guess
