what do we think of fire island

janice (surm), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:05 (thirteen years ago) link

What do we think of having hot friends?

rim this, fuck that (Eric H.), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:05 (thirteen years ago) link

some friends want to plan a trip and i'm just like, that is so cliche, and so gay, and is it really that nice?

janice (surm), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:05 (thirteen years ago) link

i'm really good at having hot friends, it's always been something i've been good at

janice (surm), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:08 (thirteen years ago) link

I don't mind swimming with hot friends at Fire Island.

Filmmaker, Author, Radio Host Stephen Baldwin (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:09 (thirteen years ago) link

right ...

janice (surm), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:09 (thirteen years ago) link

but it's like what else happens there, parties and sex? that about the gist of it?

janice (surm), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:10 (thirteen years ago) link

Among the things the ex has been mentioning in some of his newly emphatic msgs is the fact that I apparently keep particularly hot gay friends. :-/

good luck finding a rental at this time, ramz

"slapsie" (donna rouge), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:14 (thirteen years ago) link

(if ptown is anything to go by - maybe FI is bigger? i dunno)

"slapsie" (donna rouge), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:14 (thirteen years ago) link

we have 1 staked out that i could snatch, but it would be about $400 for me for 4 days, which is kind of a lot considering i don't like the beach or the chelseaburg set that presumably winds up on FI

janice (surm), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:16 (thirteen years ago) link

btw donna i met a friend of your's online. a certain robert, i think he's irish.

yup. that's it, that's my story.

janice (surm), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:36 (thirteen years ago) link

is he a redhead?

"slapsie" (donna rouge), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:43 (thirteen years ago) link

uh huh

janice (surm), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:44 (thirteen years ago) link

hey gayz. kinda crazy here, in a good way. last night the boy and i watched Cape Fear and cuddled until we fell asleep.

also, this AMAZINGLY HOT drummer from one of my favorite bands friended me on the fbook. sarahel is going to be soooo jealous, maybe.

hahahaha - you & your boy are super cute, let me reiterate

sarahel, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:47 (thirteen years ago) link

aw thanks :D

"Slapsie" Maxie Rosenbloom is one of Lee J Cobb's goons in On the Waterfront. Those were true cauliflower ears.

I was on Fire Island for about 36 hours at a friend's share, once. I explored the Meat Rack and the terrible discos.

(which Cape Fear?)

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 19:53 (thirteen years ago) link

the Nick Nolte/Juliette Lewis/De Niro one that Scorcese directed....kind of bad, but i actually think it might be one of De Niro's more underrated performances?

The Portrait of a Lady of BJs (the table is the table), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 20:00 (thirteen years ago) link

don't forget jessica lange!

janice (surm), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 20:02 (thirteen years ago) link

I think both versions are junk, but at least the first one had Mitchum smashing an egg on his chest.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 20:04 (thirteen years ago) link

The good scenes in the remake are De Niro laughing in the movie theater, and the one in the playhouse. Otherwise, Friday the 13th.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 20:05 (thirteen years ago) link

you're a fucking snob, Friday the 13th is awesome.

i am an equal-opportunity trash consumer.

also, goddamn, i am really restraining myself from posting pictures of said drummer here. it is nasty how hot he is.

The Portrait of a Lady of BJs (the table is the table), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 20:07 (thirteen years ago) link

you just discovered I am a snob where horror is concerned?

until Cape Fear, w edidn't know Scorsese could make a bad movie.

don't forget jessica lange!

Too late :)

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 20:25 (thirteen years ago) link

haha, yeah, i knew. i just like a great many 'crappy' horror films.

Another bonus of Facebook: seeing that the jocks and actor-boys I lusted for in high school have gone to seed.

You didn't know about The King of Comedy and After Hours? ;)

I would watch King of Comedy every week for the rest of my life, just for Sandra alone.

Tonight I will be watching Sleepaway Camp and nursing this homemade vegan sausage burger + rustic white bean and cremini mushroom w/ sage-breadcrumb topping casserole thing. Speaking of Juliette I just bought Kalifornia on DVD; I have not seen it since I was about ten and completely forget most of it other than A) that I really liked it and B) Juliette whining.

If Sandra Bernhard had played Rupert Pupkin she'd get my token gay vote.

Turn the Beat Around: A Secret History of Disco by Peter Shapiro is pretty good.

Also, Last Night A DJ Saved My Life by Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton is absolutely, totally essential.
