yeah i just don't agree with the standpoint that a movie about sex and abuse, emotional or physical, starring an actress who makes sense for the part, is automatically drivel.

thinking about LL vs. the likes of emma stone and amy adams is that stone and adams are successful actresses, but not "superstars". hard to say what the difference is, exactly, but big celebrities tend to bring a story with them. sometimes the story is obvious (paris hilton is a beautiful but talentless heiress), sometimes less so (what was it that made julia roberts so effortlessly easy to relate to?), but it has to be something the public understands and finds compelling. LL's always had that, even before her film career took off. she was always news, always important relative to whatever else was going on around her.

which makes me think that this isn't really a "squandered talent" story. it's a "bad celebrity" story. question wasn't whether or not lindsey'd be a star (she was and is), but what kind of star she'd be. turns out that she's the cautionary type. and that works, too.

The actress that used to get mentioned a lot as a potential analogue for LiLo was Ann-Margret.

Maybe that was looks-wise more than career-wise, but it seemed like people thought she could fill that niche for the 21st C.

Well, sure, but come on, what are the odds? She's surrounded by the wrong people (and that includes her crazy family). So who's going to lead her on the right path? I mean, shit, for the last half decade ALL she's known for is her partying, drugs, crazy antics, SCRAM bracelet,... Sure Downey Jr revived his career, but as said above, he still acted (and pretty good at that).

that amount of prescription drugs is medically indefensible. if that's a true list and it all came from one doctor, I wouldn't be surprised to see some further action on this.

I couldn't even get my doctor to write me an script for anti-anxiety meds last year when I felt like I was having a nervous breakdown, I dont' know how these hollywood people get legal heroin.
