The Cubs are uniting the North Side. A fag at the little grocery store was talking to me and the cashier about them, he said "Not that I care, but are the Cubs still in the playoffs?" I told him yes and gave a brief status report. He asked a couple questions and finished up with "...not that I care or anything."

Jesse, Saturday, 6 October 2007 18:09 (sixteen years ago) link

*Gag*

Eric, you were completely right to be dubious about a 12 year old rose`. I tried to sip it because you can almost taste that it was pretty nice before it turned vile. The funny thing is that the reason I took a chance and bought it was that it still looked nice and bright in the bottle. But in the glass it looks like a tawny port or something. Oh well, I took a low-dollar gamble and lost.

Though I could go for a glass of wine right now....

Jesse, Sunday, 7 October 2007 03:08 (sixteen years ago) link

You're so drunk.

Jenny, Sunday, 7 October 2007 03:33 (sixteen years ago) link

Jesse, if you've ever got a Zipcar, you should go to the Wine Discount Center on Elston north of North.

I had this tasty one (above) last night, made from the Garganega grape.

Eazy, Sunday, 7 October 2007 03:59 (sixteen years ago) link

I just bought my ticket for MUSIC BoX MASSACRE.

Jenny, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:00 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm not drunk.

You didn't see how I ate before coming over to your place.

OHOH! That reminds me, Courtney and I went to English on LaSalle St near the Anti-Cruelty Society. Their menu is deeee-rightful! They have about a half dozen kinds of sliders for $2-$3.50 (for the very decent filet mignon slider). My favorite was the pulled pork slider with some kind of tasty red cabbage on it.

I had a PIMM'S CUP! (An English drink that is a local speciality in New Orleans). And it was only $4, which is cheap for a cocktail at a nice place, and really, really cheap when you consider that it has Tanqueray's super-premium Ranguefjkre;raklsdf gin in it. Other yum in it was Pimms liquer, soda, mint, and cucumber, garnished with strawberry.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/zqSVvlMyd8EfRl0hauOJ

Tempting things from the menu were

English Crisps waffle fries topped with smoked cheddar, braised shredded pork, scallions, red cabbage and sour cream

Fried Egg BLT two eggs over easy with applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato and served on grilled sourdough

Earl Grey Tea Encrusted Center Cut Filet served with a black currant demi glaze

Forest Mushroom Bisque with goat cheese and chives

Jesse, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:05 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh shit. When is the massacre??? I don't want this to conflict with courtney's halloween party!

Jesse, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:05 (sixteen years ago) link

(heyJENNYcongrats!!)

Fried egg BLT sounds yum.

Eazy, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:06 (sixteen years ago) link

Thanks, Eric! I'm super happy!

RE conflict: It's not going to! Courtney is 110% committed to the MBM so she would not agree to a party w/out checking the date. The MBM is 10/13.

Court's party should be on the weekend before the 31st.

Jenny, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Jesse, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Man. Madonna is a fucking un-witty tool.

Jesse, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Red wine and sleeping pills
Help me get back to your arms
Cheap sex and sad films
Help me get where I belong

I think you're crazy, maybe
I think you're crazy, maybe

Stop sending letters
Letters always get burned
It's not like the movies
They fed us on little white lies

I think you're crazy, maybe

I will see you in the next life

Jesse, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Jenny, I apologize for thinking you were a viral marketer, by the way.

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:19 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm really interested in this interview. I know that it's all supposed to be rehearsed and all that, but that doesn't change the fact that she comes across really poorly.

When I first saw this I cheered for Dave for exposing Madonna for the tool she is.

Jesse, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:24 (sixteen years ago) link

It's okay Rock Hardy. I am constitutionally suspicious as well so I understand the impetuous to think so. Plus I didn't post for awhile because of law school crap so you don't know how I am.

Jenny, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:28 (sixteen years ago) link

The interview reminds me of my way of dealing with co-workers that I share mutual hatred with. We own it and let it out and joke about it, but it does not change the fact that we hate each other, but at some point we grow to like each other despite still honestly hating each other.

There was a girl who worked at Catch who was nuts and she gave me shit and said that I was going to be fired one night (for something she made up). I was super in the weeds and I called her a cunt and she cried. Later she harassed me more and I said "you know when I called you a cunt I didn't mea it--I just didn't have words strong enough for what a fucking worthless person you are" (or something along those lines).

Anyway, one day we were in the elevator and it got stuck and we laughed about how funny it would be if we two got stuck together in an elevator and how our rescuers would find a bloody mess of server guts when they opened the car. And we hung out and had drinks sometimes and conversation often was about how we each thought the other sucked. It was a beautiful George and Martha sort of thing.

Jesse, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:32 (sixteen years ago) link

Jenny, i want to come back to your place cuz i'mgonnafuckyour mouthsofuckinghard

Jesse, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:33 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh and btw, I took the non-Abraham Lincoln pill. The Sonata.

I'm still awake, but my head is full of it and I just now realized that I've been reading the internet with only my left eye for quite some time. The right is shut.

Jesse, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:34 (sixteen years ago) link

This feels like tripping.

OHOHOHOH

I STILL HAVE THOSE SHROOMS I GREW IN NC 4 YEARS AGO IN MY FREEZER!!!

jennyy....i need an intervention to stop this crazy train from happening....

Jesse, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:35 (sixteen years ago) link

OK, so Madonna.

She tries so hard but falls short. She acts crude and abrasive, which is not the problem in itself. She could do good stuff with that. But she doesn't. Her "humor" (or for the new and improved Madonna of today "humour") is that of a sub-charming adolescent.

Jesse, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:44 (sixteen years ago) link

At points Letterman appeared to be controlling the show in order to allow Madonna to dig herself deeper, but she was not sharp enough to do more than make jibes at him and make black dick jokes.

Thanks for bearing with me folks.

Good night.

FOREVER.

Jenny, Sunday, 7 October 2007 13:37 (sixteen years ago) link

Modern Bionic Woman, Retrograde Feminism

So let's assess our new-school bionic babe, keeping in mind Eick's comment that this show is about how "we" feel now that we know women can do anything men can. Apparently "we" feel that women only become powerful through their sexual relationships with men. "We" also feel that even when women are powerful, it's probably because men implanted something inside them that the men continue to own and control.

Jenny, Sunday, 7 October 2007 13:51 (sixteen years ago) link

Wow. I had verbal diarrhea last night. Sorry about that. The Sonata kicked in and I just ignored it, so I was posting in my sleep, in a sense.

Jesse, Sunday, 7 October 2007 14:42 (sixteen years ago) link

I stood at Broadway & Barry this morning and watched all those runners go by.

Congratulations Jenny

Condolences Jeff and people who like the Cubs

I drove back from Michigan today after a weekend wedding tour/reminder of why I don't like the central Lower Peninsula.

horseshoe, Sunday, 7 October 2007 20:22 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm optimistic for next year. Not many people, myself included, expected them to do anywhere near as well as they did this year. I like the young guys on this team and I think next year will be fun.

Jeff, Sunday, 7 October 2007 20:22 (sixteen years ago) link
