thanks y'all, i have had a crazy birthday here in Germany- friend's bf Benny baked me a cake with candles and champagne when we showed up at the dance studio this morning (we're working with choreographer from Forsythe Company on a new performance piece this month) and now Martin and I are holed up in a fancy suite overlooking the river in a crumbling old spa town called Bad Ems- tomorrow is all about taking the curative waters at this weird ass 18th century resort hotel- it's been decadent and weird and fun. So sweet of y'all to remember my special day. Kinda can't believe that I have survived to be, gulp, 39 years old. Whoah!

my friends' wedding turned out great! i managed to keep the dancefloor going most of the night once ppl got into full-on party mode but on top of that the ceremony itself was really beautiful and the food was terrific. unfortunately the combination of an open bar + not getting to eat very much proved kind of disastrous; i woke up today w/ one of the most severe hangovers i've ever had, but it was so worth it

...also i went home w/ one of the grooms' friends :x

Congrats. My worst hangover of the last ten years occurred after my best friend's wedding; at least yours had the best kind of ice pack on your head.

What did you play during your set?

ceremony opening: the beatles - 'here comes the sun'
ceremony closing: the cure - 'just like heaven'
dinner hours: sort of whatever i felt like since no one was really paying attention, so fleetwood mac, erasure, nina simone, steely dan
partypartytime: lots of current top 40 but also a good hour or so of '90s dance/pop eg 'rhythm of the night', 'gettin jiggy with it'. 'party in the usa' got a pretty tremendous reception

i also woke up with a hangover today. i get them so infrequently that it always takes me a while to realize why i feel so fucking weird.

i deserved it, though. i pretty much drank three 40z between the hours of 5:45 and 12:30 or so.

also, woah, i ran into friends from HIGH SCHOOL yesterday. i haven't seen anyone from high school (other than two close friends, one of whom went to lolcollege with me) in about five years. one of them is getting married (!) in a few weeks!

So my friend is getting all this action on CL, and I'm sort of tempted to make a posting just to see what sort of responses I get (but probz with little intention of answering). Is this an OK thing to do, "testing the waters"?

I've tried CL a few times and have had some pretty bad experiences (including the last one I posted here about a while back). I haven't given up on it, but I am definitely not as confident about using it for that purpose.
