yeah. just off to toronto for law school. and while i was born there, i haven't lived in the city since i was 9 mo. and i don't know it from a hole in the wall.

from what i gathered this weekend apartment hunting it is a city that is big and cold and sort of rude. sort of a leave-the-money-on-the-nightstand city?

BUT underneath the business-city shell, there are a handful of lovely neighbourhoods full of vinyl shops, second-hand bookstores, gourmet coffee and scruffy pierced+tatted baristas. if i ever have a moment to breathe outside of case studies and briefings, i am going to have a lot of fun there.

Tape Store, I shall spend the next three weeks practicing my vaguely-perplexed/lost-but-still-cute look!

guys, alfred and i kicked it on saturday and he grew a sweet beard! everyone congratulate him for looking good with a beard, even tho he is 30 and 30 year olds can grow beards

who's being negative? flying solo has its perks. But if you just still want to get laid regularly you have to be rich, powerful, or gorgeous once you hit 40 (forgot to do that).

as someone who spent years in unrequited bromances and other emotionally arid circumstances: blaming a lack of available prospects is a factor, but only to a point. my situation was of my own making, involving closeted fear and feelings of unworthiness. crushing on straight / unavailable guys was an unhealthy pattern for me, but it was *my* pattern -- not the fault of the gay dudes i wasn't interested in, nor the fault of the dudes i longed for.

not saying that there's anything *wrong* with you but you have to be honest with yourself about what your emotional needs are here.

I have actually been much better with positivity and meeting dudes the past few months. I've exchanged numbers with two diff guys since I moved home/started going to Philly a lot, and things have def been on the upswing since the beginning of the year (I am constantly telling my friends that 2010 is My Year of Gay). 1- Morbz, I know so many poor, un-powerful, average-looking gay men over 40 who are in relationships, or have been in relationships recently. i just don't buy what you're selling.

2- elmo's big post is right on.

3- i think that perhaps my perspective has changed a lot in the past year, mostly because i found out more about myself, my sexual needs, and the type of 'scene' which interests me. these things come with time, but pushing in certain directions can also help you find out what does and doesn't work for you. what is certain is that unrequited crushes on straight friends is not going to make you happier, and thusly more attractive to guys who might actually want to sleep with you.

That's been my experience -- it's pheronomal. The more aggressive and coquettish you are, the greater likelihood you'll get laid, and guys will start to smell your confidence.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be such a downer. FWIW I really, really hope Tape Store and rev and corey and I and everyone else all find people. And fast.
