At the risk of sounding glib, I own my own place and don't have a pet. If I'm out of the apartment ten or twelve hours a day I'd hate leaving a dog alone, not to mention $200 every time I take it to the vet, plus tags, rabies shots, etc.

I have a 3-1/2 year old niece, and same. I sometimes wish the subway had kid-free cars. xxp

this is a dilemma in my life def -- i love kids, i THINK i would love having a kid, but idk, the whole process seems pretty complicated because i don't think i could adopt a kid

i was thinking about this tonight cuz i was eating dinner w my grandmother and she was going thru old family history, who is who's cousin and sister and aunt and shit, and i was thinking like "hmmm, i'm prob not gonna end up contributing anything to the family tree" -- thankfully my brother will prob have 2 kids so it will be all good for the s4rgent family name

if i was related to dr. morbs i would without a doubt procure a child and make him/her spent an inordinate amount of time with uncle morbs

nobody I know of who's even suspiciously "discreet." We don't keep in touch w/ Dad's side of the family tho.

no other confirmed gays in my family. my dad's uncle was a lifelong bachelor, though -- who knows?

statistically speaking there is a good chance that one of my 7 bros will be a gay.

i'd be down w/ being an uncle. i like the idea of having my brothers' kids visit me in nyc and i can take them to the met or to a silent comedy at film forum (if it's still around in like, 2024) or something

My godfather -- my dad's half brother -- also died of AIDS, in 1995. We weren't close though, and as far as I know he caught it whoring in S. Korea when he was in ROTC in the early eighties.

when I attend family parties like Noche Buena and Father's Day, or even smaller things like birthday parties, I am quite literally the only person without a date. It leads to some awkwardness as I've sometimes no one to talk to, especially when the gin hits and I start to inject waspish remarks when The Men talk about their wives and girlfriends.

at my uncle's wake last month one of my great-aunts said something to my parents about my brothers and i finding girlfriends and getting married someday. i just smiled politely

as it is i don't think i have much to talk about w/ extended family (who i hardly see anymore anyhow, since they've all moved down south), so if my brothers get to have kids soon that'd be great with me. my older one recently broke off an engagement tho (and i'm mostly relieved)

oyyy. i had to deal with an abscessed tooth last year, no fun. (and they gave me far weaker painkillers than vicodin)

um, guys, i coaxed a boil to burst this afternoon by applying a warm compress. gross.

i don't think i have any out gay family members. my only surviving grandparent doesn't know that i'm a fag, but everyone else does.

that said, i think one of my younger cousins (a boy) is one of us. he's turning 16 this year, and wants to be a scifi writer, and loves Philip K Dick books that i get him for Xmas. he is awesome.

dentist appt is tomorrow a.m. and i am v eager to get this checked out. stressing a bit because i'm throwing a party this weekend and have put so much planning into it and i want to be in a condition to enjoy it.

It's something I want to do, but only after I'm settled and have basically reached self-actualization. I can see myself at 40 with a child.

My mother's brother was closeted (was married to a woman and had two kids) and died of what I believe was AIDS. My mother was the only person in our family who actually knew (went to gay clubs with him, etc.). I think his experience is what led my mother to be more understanding when I finally came out, and added to her understanding why I didn't come out years before.

On a semi-lighter note, I had a date tonight, but he hasn't messaged me back — which is okay as I kind of just want to sit in tonight and listen to Copland on headphones and drink mint tea.

i'm going out again. four nights in a row. my liver hurts.

Just saw Les 4mours Imaginaires - second film from the current enfant terrible of Quebec cinema, X4vier D0l4n.

His first one, J'ai Tue M4 Mere was sort of a melodramatic gay coming of age piece focused more on the main character's relationship with his mother. First movie was pretty film school, despite taking a bunch of awards at Cannes, and held up mostly due to the fact that Anne Dorval is fucking wondrous as the mother.

New one is more low key, pretty enjoyable and funny in a v. French way. Unrequited bisexual love triangle high on style and light on substance. Awkward and ambitious vs. mannered and restrained, but both are worth a watch - he's a derivative but potentially promising new voice in queer film.

Of course having said this, Morbs & Alfred will probably hate them (due to having actual discerning taste). :P

Oh, and I'm sure there's something politically questionable for tabes to be pissed about. Haha.

Always wary of recommending films (esp queer film) because I don't know shit about the broader scene. Still, if nothing else, D0l4n's pretty cute, albeit supposedly a bit of a dick.
