I did "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues" and The Killers' "Human" at karaoke a few weeks ago.

I don't see the point of karaoke if you don't know the script -- it's like acting. Staring frozen at the monitor -- like these lame chicks singing "Hot Summer Nights" and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" for the first time -- is beyond offensive.

right? spielberg lady last night was a whole measure behind on her song (i forget what it was) and it was just like 'man, c'mon with this'

yeah but the worst thing about Karaoke is the people who do it all the time and are really good at it. I'd rather see a frozen chick than some Karaoke expert.

(i learned my lesson the hard way after realizing i don't know how the verses of 'careless whisper' go)

picking a karaoke song is prolly like deciding on a tattoo, it has to declare something definite abt you and i'm not ready for that kind of commitment. also i dont want to sing in front of ppl

plax (ico), Thursday, 29 July 2010 22:53 (fourteen years ago) link

that song is hard! i crashed and burned on it at karaoke one time

xp about careless whisper

I miss Bimbs too.

I want "Teardrops" everywhere I go but only W&W singing it.

btw the album on which you'll find it isn't great, alas. But Love Wars is a must, must own.

Exactly like that.

My job is right by the Chi river and I found this spot right on the banks where no one seems to go. It seems like the kind of place I'd sit with a boy and hug each other and watch the ducks and kayakers.

still a bit headache-y from last night but right now very full of delicious mexican food, would like to crash out on my bed 'cept it's covered in all of the detritus i've collected from 2 years in this apt

yeah, back home w/ my parents to nj. accentuating the positives though - still fairly close to the city but also it'll be kind of nice to escape for a bit

the numbing/spicy queen of the conservative band (donna rouge), Friday, 30 July 2010 02:48 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh duh, I knew that, it just slipped my mind. You'll have to come to NYC when I visit next month!
