I decided to go to The Cock the other night to "see what happened". For those of you not in NYC, it is the absolute seediest bar imaginable: the doors are completely black and recessed from the sidewalk, and the only indicator that the place exists is a single neon sign of a rooster, and when you walk in the only thing inside is a bar, a row of benches on the back wall across from the bar, and a single dimly-lit red light shining onto a disco ball. Also a few prominently-placed signs letting you know that there is NO SEXUAL ACTIVITY ALLOWED. But it's the type of place that you can't even really see who's sitting three feet away from you (which I guess makes the guy giving blowjobs in the corner that much more appealing?)

Anyway what "happened" was a nice smallish and youthful 45yo Irish gentlemen with gauges in his ears and short gray hair and an adorable smile. Not sure who looked at who first or whatever, but highlights of the evening (re: early morning) included dancing to Madonna's "Future Lovers" in his apartment and playing lots of Dead Can Dance and then deciding it'd be a good idea to maybe sleep once sunlight started coming in through his curtains. atlanta's great. wish i'd gotten to spend more time there last year. sadly the only times i get to cross the atlantic these days (and for...the foreseeable :/ ) are on press trips.
